Martin Milner passes
The sad news comes to us that actor Martin Milner, best known for his portrayal of officer Pete Malloy in the Jack Webb series “Adam 12” has passed at the age of 84.
Of course, Milner enlisted in the Army during the Korean War like most of his generation, but before he’d enlisted in 1952, he’d already appeared in movies as a Marine in “The Sands of Iwo Jima” (1949) and as a sailor in “Operation Pacific” (1951).
In the Army he was assigned to Fort Ord, California, working in Special Services and making training films, where he met fellow soldier, Clint Eastwood, who reportedly encouraged him to pursue a career in film.

Rest in Peace Martin Milner.
RIP, Sir.
I also see that Judy Carne, the Sock-It-To-Me gal from Laugh-In, passed on 3 September.
Time marches on.
RIP, Mr. Milner.
Rest in peace, Martin.
rest well…. Sir
“1-Adam-12, 1-Adam-12, see the man….”
Rest in Peace, all of these icons are leaving us…
Rest in peace, Mr. Milner. I watched a bunch of Adam-12 last year. I had about 30 episodes on the DVD at one time but finally erased them after watching them all (kept the one with Mark Harmon as an inept rookie). Great show, and its spin-off, Emergency, is also outstanding. Got an episode on now. MeTV hasn’t aired Dragnet, the show that launched Adam-12.
Despite the turmoil of the era, Adam-12 portrayed police as hardworking men (and later women) who weren’t always perfect but who got the job done as efficiently as possible. Even so, the show wasn’t afraid to address excessive use of force and corruption in some episodes. Martin Milner, along with Kent McCord and William Boyett, fit his role perfectly.
ADAM-12 and Dragnet are both on COZI TV.
Me TV as well if you get that one. It’s over the air I think.
Met him a couple of times in San Diego. He was a helluva fly fisherman and all ’round nice guy. Tight lines, Marty.
I was just watching him in the very first series episode of Columbo last night.
I loved Adam 12 when I was a kid, just like Emergency!
RIP, sir.
In my list of favorite TV shows growing up, “Adam-12” was right there in the top five.
Rest in Peace, Mr. Milner.
“The incidents you have seen are true. The names were changed to protect the innocent”. RIP Martin Milner.

Navy vet Dean Jones of the “Love Bug”, “Ensign O’Toole”, “That Darn Cat!”, and other films (predominately Disney) passed at age 84 last week.
The old myth of actors dying in threes seems to be holding up! Jones, Milner , Carne
I’m surprised that nobody has mentioned Mr. Milner’s earlier work in the classic TV show, “Route 66″…
According to one of Clint Eastwood’s biography’s, there was a whole clique of draftee Hollywood actors and would-be actors who hung out and networked at the Fort Ord post swimming pool in the early fifties’.
Clint Eastwood sat out the Korean War as an instructor at the Post pool which apparently was enough action for him at the time.
Adam-12?
Adam-12?
Adam-12 is no longer in service……
RIP Mr. Milner.
Adam 12 is 10-7….returned to station
He was also in the classic film of “Mister Roberts” as a shore patrol officer with a pretty decent southern ‘Bama accent.
I wish I could’ve been in a team with Martin Milner and Clint Eastwood, how badass would that have been?
