About That Iran Nuke Deal . . .
I’m reasonably sure that most TAH readers think the current group of fools and tools in DC helping the POTUS screw things up by-the-numbers Administration’s proposed nuclear deal with Iran is a serious mistake, and should be rejected.
One would expect the Administration’s political foes to oppose the deal. But it’s not only the Administration;s political opponents who have issues. For starters, Alan Dershowitz – one of the few liberals out there who IMO actually seems to have his head screwed on straight when it comes to terrorism – has come out strongly against the deal. (He has some pretty harsh criticism of the POTUS’s efforts; the linked article is IMO definitely worth a read.)
It also seems that two senior Members of Congress from his own party – Sen. Schumer of New York, and Rep. Eliot, also of New York and ranking Minority Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee – have now publicly stated their opposition to the deal.
I just don’t understand that stance. I mean, really: what’s not to like about a deal that gives away the farm to a nation that has declared you an enemy; which the Administration itself acknowledges will provide financial support to international terrorism; and which the Administration refuses to allow to be read by the public?
Further, a lady named “Clinton” has reportedly “cautiously embraced the deal”. And we all know that her judgement – particularly regarding foreign policy – is always “dead on target” and above reproach. I mean: just look at Benghazi, her use of email, and her hiring practices. So what’s not to like?
(For the record: yes, the previous two paragraph are indeed satire and/or sardonicism.)
Schumer’s argument for opposing the deal appears quite well-reasoned. If you’re interested; you can read it here.
I’m thinking this deal is now in serious trouble. And I’m also thinking . . . that’s just too bad. (smile)

Yeah. Too frikkin’ bad.
This clown car administration finally hit a rung so low that even their own enablers are having a hard time supporting them. Good.
Hey Hondo, probably meant Rep. Eliot Engel.
I got sneaking suspicion somehow enough Dem votes will get cobbled together, while giving others (Chuck Schumer, Steve Israel, Eliot Engel) political cover from Jewish lobby/constituents.
There are a lot of people calling it your way. They believe that a poll of Democrats has been taken and they have more than enough numbers to kill opposition to the deal. They believe the Administration has given them the OK to oppose the deal to satisfy their constituents so long as they do not do any arm twisting of any other Dems. See if Schumer and Engle do any arm twisting. If they do, the theory is wrong.
That was my guess… oppose it, but don’t lobby or “arm twist” others to join you.
Yep. It’s done all the time – give a member of Congress “permission” to step off the party plantation occasionally to satisfy the voters back home when it won’t have any impact upon the vote. They probably take turns doing it.
So, I’ll hold any respect for the man until he becomes an active opponent and contributes to actually getting it defeated.
Anything you do now will be enhanced and increased over the next twelve months.
That means that a bad deal/treaty will NOT favor your side and will only make you look stupider than you already do look, especially when things go against you.
HONDO:
Thank you for teaching me a new word to add to my vocabulary, i.e., “SARDONICISM”.
Chucky “get the hell out of my way there is a tv camera” Schumer is doing this for one reason only: politics. He is in line to be leader of the Dems in the Senate and most likely knows there are enough votes to pass this crap anyways so is safe coming out against it. Standard party politics.
Slimy but that is how the voters get fooled by the turds in DC.
I believe that at present, the opposition is a few votes short of stopping the deal. I hope that changes, but the real way to get rid of the deal if it stands is to make it a strong campaign issue. Only vote for a Republican who promises to end the deal right after January 20, 2017. One such candidate is Carly Fiorina. She believes in maintaining a strong military. She says that once takes office her first phone call will be to Bibi Netanyahu to tell him the USA stands with Israel. The second call will be to the Ayatollah. “He probably won’t take my call, but he will get the message.” Unlimited inspections or the US will cut Iran off from any participation in the international banking system. That will destroy Iran’s trade. Fiorina has an amazing ability to store and recall facts. She is so fast with her mouth almost nobody has been able to cut her off. She will eat Clinton alive. Watch some of her TV interviews. Yesterday, she tore up MSNBC’s Chris Matthews. Fiorina puts paid to the Dem charge that the Republicans are engaging in a war on women. 54% of the voters are women and if only 10% of them voted for Clinton just for that reason, we could have that evil bitch in the White House. Fiorina is a woman that even the toughest of men could support simply because she’s the toughest of women. Check her out.

She’s got bigger balls then some of the men in the GOP…
‘She will eat Clinton alive.’ Yes, I think she can. She is clear, concise and able to get to the point quickly. Clinton is slow and deliberate in what she says and how she says it. And I do not believe she is likely to be ‘nice’ to Clinton, because she has nothing to lose.
A feud between WH & Schumer? Chuckie is plotting a rise to party leadership & guess he isn’t taking risk of a public backlash for a Prez who will be gone in 18 months.

The Jewish members have received political cover so they can be against it before they are for it. A no vote when it comes up for approval and a yes vote when the Veto is unstained. Kabuki at its finest.
I believe 0Bama will get his way because the GOP will put up a “fight” only to lose and use it as a campaign issue. Meanwhile Iran gets it’s nukes and weapon systems to deliver them to Israel of course.
0Bama promised he would check Congress before going to the UN and he broke that promise. The Senate should treat this deal as a treaty and require a two thirds vote for approval, of course they are cowards and as said before they want to have another talking point against the Dems.
Meanwhile Russia and China are laughing their collectives asses off at the US with our nincompoop of a leader. The money they will make selling technology to Iran with all that freed money that will be available after the deal signed.
Also, no thanks to our European allies who are more interested in helping their sagging economies making deals with Iran than stopping them from getting a nuke.
Perhaps even more important than any of this nuke stuff are those pesky funds which have previously been frozen. Now that they have easy access to that, who cares what their previous time schedule might have been? The are/have/will continue to develop nuclear power but now have those additional big bucks to ease the process.
The “negotiations” were never, in my view, about nuclear power. It was always about the release of the money and the lifting of sanctions. They already have most of the technology they need, or have access to it for a price. It’s just easier now to bring it all together, secure what they need and ship stuff in and out of the region. All wins.
Anyone else remember when people said
“How could that annoying little troll, starting with almost nothing, wind up doing so much damage and killing so many millions of people?”
Or
“How did the world miss this? he -told- us what he intended in his -book-!”
Sigh…
Here we go again. Mr Chamberlin has the piece of paper he wants. The wierdos will shortly have the means to seek what they truly want.
And the living may well envy the dead….
