Sudan worried about Obama

| December 8, 2008

The Washington Post writes this morning that the Sudan isn’t feeling the hope and change the way the rest of the world is feeling it;

In the Sudanese capital of Khartoum these days, political elites are bracing for what they expect will be a major shift in U.S. policy toward a government the United States has blamed for orchestrating a violent campaign against civilians in the western Darfur region.

“Compared to the Republicans, the Democrats, I think they are hawks,” said Ghazi Suleiman, a human rights lawyer and member of the Southern People’s Liberation Movement, which has a fragile power-sharing agreement with the ruling party. “I know Obama’s appointees. And I know their policy towards Sudan. Everybody here knows it. The policy is very aggressive and very harsh. I think we really will miss the judgments of George W. Bush.”

I believe that, I really do. The Democrats are hawks when it comes to things that don’t affect our national security. Clinton pretty much ignored things like bin Laden’s actual attacks on US interests, but focused on things like Bosnia and Kosovo. He was all about feeding Somalians, but as soon as our involvement in Somalia became a national security problem (ie…our commitment to a mission), he fled.

So, those guys in Zimbabwe, the Sudan, etc…they’d all better look out because taking them down will be in the front seat while bin Laden gets time to rebuild, refit, retrain his posse and Obama focuses on making us feel good about ourselves again.

I do wonder if Obama really cares about Sudan. But we will soon see though. His actions are critical. I do happen to find The Emma Academy Project a very noble project. It seem that helping the children of Sudan learn will be a very good idea for peace in Sudan.
