Tosh.0 gets around to Stolen Valor vids
According to Breitbart, the Comedy Central Channel’s Daniel Tosh talks about the recent spate of Stolen Valor videos, many of which we’ve featured here. Tosh’s show, if you haven’t watched, usually makes fun of folks that do stupid stuff that ends up on YouTube.
In the comments of the Breibart article, Tosh takes a beating from folks who don’t appreciate his humor. But I think the segment makes fun of valor thieves, he doesn’t defend them, but your mileage may vary;
“Stolen valor — sure technically it’s still a felony, but I say those impostors are still heroes. Fake boobs don’t make me any less horny than real ones. They’re out there risking possible embarrassment just to get a free appetizer or a chick’s number. That’s courage in my book. What are the real soldiers fighting for, if not for our freedom to impersonate them? Haven’t you ever heard of dressing for the job you want?”
The Navy Times gets it;
“Air Force shirt, Army hat and a Marine wallet … f*** you, Navy, nobody wants to pretend to be a sailor!”
“See it was laundry day, he had nothing else to wear. … He didn’t even realize he was wearing a matching hat, shirt and pants until he received a free coffee at Starbucks.”

Maybe he’ll do a “redemption” segment on Yetman or Starbucks guy, or even SGM Cornelius Davis – now that would be funny. By the way I talked to Bulldog and Scotty yesterday and none of us think Tosh meant to disparage us – that his target was the phonies. I mean, the Golden Chicken Heart, FFS.
Category: Phony soldiers
Tosh isn’t for everyone. But I have to admit this was pretty funny.
I can agree. I personally think Tosh is great. He knows he is offending people, but in this case – he is only going after the Stolen Valor thieves.
He did his thing on this topic. I claim he did it well.
“Stolen Valor!” Lol. The part about chasing around a homeless guy forcing him to take his clothes off was pretty funny, as well. I think he’s making fun of those who steal valor, but also poking fun at the ones who go to extreme lengths to get attention for calling them out. Both are pretty annoying. Over all, he appears to be throwing more shade toward the peeps so I don’t mind it.
Was he making fun of the posers or the people that were calling them out?
Tosh was making fun of the posers. But his humor is raw, and for those that never seen Tosh it can seem that he is defending them. He is not.
If you watch Tosh, you’ll recognize pretty quickly that sarcasm is his native language. He was ripping the posers a new ass, in his own abrasive way.
As long as he’s on our side, I’m ok with him.
Golden Chicken Heart medal? I’d love to see some people wearing that.
No, Tosh is not for everyone, but I get what he’s going on about. Unfortunately, without a TV (SO uncivilized!), I can’t watch his show. And more attention on the real problem is fine with me.
Seems like humor to me, too.
I watched it and I thought it was hilarious. Some people might have to watch it more than once to understand. Plus, if you haven’t watched Tosh.0 before, you might not understand his humor. He definitely is making fun of the valor thieves, not us.
This is what he does pretty much all the time on his show. Even the people he does “web redemptions” on that come on his show he makes fun of. He must be doing something right because he’s had a show for a lot of years.
As many videos as there are out there already, I’m only surprised he didn’t hit on this before now.
Never heard of Tosh. He didn’t make me laugh but the Rev War skit made me chuckle. Of course, this is coming from a guy who thinks the word celery is a laugh riot.
Discount Jon Stewart.
Apples and oranges. Completely different TV show formats and comedic styles.
I was kinda disappointed at the fact that so many people commenting on Breitbart have their satire button broken. In my eyes tosh was killing with the “Going to all lengths to get a free appetizer…” Made the posers look even more patetic.
Some of the comments on Breitbart made us look humorless and, I’ll just say it, like idiots. Will Rogers would have been lost of them.
We’ve (veterans and support) been turning into yet another Perpetually Outraged outfit over the years.
Where does the Golden Chicken Heart medal rate on the phony awards order of precedence?
Now that was pretty funny! Never saw the guy before, so have no understanding of his brand of humor. Was that required?
Watch the video where Tosh competes in every single Olympic event in record time. This will give you a better idea of his brand of humor.
My point was that things are either funny or they are not – I don’t need to know a comedian’s bio to decide if a bit is humorous. This bit was funny to me.
That is all.
Oh it isn’t a bio, just another one of his skits.
I was rolling with laughter watching this. His words in the quotes above could be misconstrued without hearing his sarcastic delivery. Kudos, Daniel Tosh.
I wonder how the non-CPO, crappy pilot, soon to be disbarred lawyer would fare in a Tosh Web redemption?
I was wondering that myself, DITTO with every other member of The Dutch Rudder Gang!
Tosh is a funny guy. Watching his show is like watching a fight between stripper midgets, you feel kinda dirty even watching it but you just know something funny is going to happen.
I think its funny that Jonn, BUlldog and Scotty had to talk come to a consensus on if it was funny or not. Tosh did what he gets paid to do.
Left us amused while thinking what the f*** was that all about.
I think he’s really shitting on the posers, but I would also see a bit of a tweak to those who openly confront posers in public as well.
He does ask if there’s a law about soldiers slapping the shit out of civilians. That’s the same point that’s been raised here. It’s one thing to make a liar internet famous and quite another to get publicly in someone’s face. I am not certain I’m a fan of that aspect of exposure. As with all things it’s a great idea until somebody dies.
A poser could assault or seriously injure/kill a soldier confronting them or worse one of these soldiers when shoving these posers around could initiate a fall where the poser strikes his head and dies and now the soldier’s life is ruined for exposing a liar.
No piece of shit poser is worth going to jail for, for assaulting them or whatever. It’s still against the law to assault someone for lying…and not all posers are going to be crybabies who run away. Some might be high self-esteem narcissists with a firearm.
Use caution in public, many people thinking they were doing something good are in jail today for something that escalated into violence.
Yes, and when you are rustling bushes, wear eyepro!
That should go without saying GDC
Eyepro doesn’t work without also wearing the requisite PT Belt
NOTHING works when you don’t have the correct PT belt, ask ANY CSM!
Interesting you should bring up the “hit their head in a fall” point, VOV.
Something similar apparently happened before to someone that’s fairly well-known before. Google the guys name plus “bar fight” for his side of the story.
Frankly, IMO he was lucky not to end up in jail.
Sounds like he was a lucky turd….here in Mass we have a dad in jail for killing a guy by punching him regarding a hockey practice for a youth team…larger hockey dad hits smaller hockey dad coach who falls and dies…two families ruined over much ado about nothing.
I understand the contempt for these liars, and I probably sound like somebody’s old Nana telling them to use caution and avoid a physical confrontation.
But I would truly be saddened to find out a soldier was going to jail over killing a shitbag accidentally while offering a tune-up session…or worse a soldier stabbed or shot for confronting one of these shitbags.
They just aren’t worth getting injured or jailed over, public shame that avoids physical contact and confrontation, I understand and Internet fame is a perfect outcome for these assholes…
just my $0.02 YMMV as it should.
This is a standard Tosh.0 bit.
He is clearly making fun of the Posers and how rediculous they are … he is like us … just reporting what he sees on the interwebs.
I like this … he is reaching a different market and spreading the word about “Stolen Valor”.
Speaking of Stolen Valor and a certain non-CPO… it looks like he has another telephonic conference on April 27th with the state bar to discuss his status:
http://apps.statebarcourt.ca.gov/dockets/dockets.aspx
Just enter his name and click on the two links that appear – you can see the status of the State Bar’s actions…
Good news. I hope he has enough minutes on his Trac phone.
… no I don’t.
Whats really funny is that the State BAR investigator (Erin) and the Judge hearing his case (Lucy) are females. I believe the Judge is Hispanic to boot.
Perhaps they have some of the insulting messages he sent female attornies?.
Karma.
I love it when Karma bites back with a vengeance.
Tosh isn’t for everybody, but he punches in all directions and doesn’t pull any of them. I thought this bit was pretty funny and hit the right targets.
That was hilarious. “I fought in the Revolutionary war”
He’s clearly calling them out as chicken shit and doing it very humorously.
Seriously…it’s a joke, not a dick. Don’t take it so hard.
