Monday morning feel good story

| March 30, 2015

Our feel good story this morning comes from Texas;

“When officers arrived, they were told several men had come inside the home to rob them,” stated Garland Police Department Public Information Officer Joe Harn. “During the attempted robbery, shots were exchanged between the robbers and the homeowner.”

No injuries were reported for the individuals who live in the home but police say one of the burglars had been shot.

The two burglars were located in the area and taken into custody. Arrested were 24-year-old Caris Bryant of Dallas, Texas, and 27-year-old Dequalon Barnes of Dallas, Texas. Barnes suffered the gunshot wound and was taken to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where he was treated and released back into police custody.

Garland, Texas is just a little bit safer tonight.

In California, a robbery went very badly for a couple of thieves when they had a pre-arranged sales meeting with their prospective victim;

One suspect met the victim at about 8 a.m. while two others waited in a nearby U-Haul truck.

The two suspects waiting in the truck got out of the vehicle during the meeting and allegedly tried to rob the victim, officials said.

The victim, who was carrying a weapon, fired at the suspects and hit two of them.

A witness said she heard about five gunshots.

A suspect ran to the waiting truck, and in an attempt to flee the scene, ran over another suspect and dragged him, officials said.

Police were questioning a “person of interest” in connection with the alleged robbery.

Then it’s on to Georgia;

According to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release, 20-year-old Drevon McLaurin called 911 at about 6:20 a.m. stating that an intruder was in his home attacking him with a hammer, the sheriff said.

During the struggle, McLaurin, who called 911, shot Brown, the attacker, killing him, Davis said.

McLaurin is being treated at a Macon hospital for head injuries.

Next up is Texas;

The reporting person advised a white man had just attempted to burglarize his vehicle outside of his business as another white man was waiting in a Gold Honda Accord 4 door.

The caller confronted the subject as he ran back toward the Honda Accord and this subject made physical contact with the victim.

The victim produced a handgun and ordered the subjects to freeze. The passenger subject then started to close the door as the other subject started to drive away. The passenger door struck the victim’s arm, causing the victim to discharge a round, striking the suspect in the right calf.

As always, thanks to Chief Tango for the links.
