Tuesday morning feel good story

| February 3, 2015

This morning’s feel good story comes from Alabama;

According to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office release, a homeowner in the 5000 block of Little Turtle Drive confronted a suspect breaking into his car around 1:30 a.m.

A second suspect shot at the homeowner, who was armed and returned fire. The suspects then fled south on Alabama Highway 119 in a dark sedan.

The homeowner was uninjured and it is unknown if the suspects were injured or not, but investigators believe the sedan was hit by gunfire.

The suspects remain at large, and the investigation is ongoing.

Range time for the homeowner. Too many people are getting away and you know they haven’t learned their lesson. Thanks to Chief Tango for the link.

The Party of Hell No!

OK, another stupid quote from law enforcement – from the News outlet: “AL.com’s Martin Reed reports Sheriff’s Capt. Ken Burchfield said there has not been a “crime spree,” and many of the vehicle break-in reports involved unlocked vehicles.”

What the hell does that mean? Is it not a crime spree when people who are not the owners of these cars go into unlocked cars and remove personal items? Isn’t stealing – taking someone else’s stuff – rather than taking someone else’s stuff in an unlocked car as compared to a locked car?

This is a problem in America – police see stealing as a victim less crime (Especially if your car is unlocked, obviously.) – to be taken care of by insurance and insurance companies, or by citizens having to replace items vs citizens who don’t like people stealing their stuff; and really don’t want to pay for increased insurance premiums, or having to pay twice for their stuff. As long as police continue to have this attitude more guns will be purchased, more criminals will be shot and a significant number of those criminals will receive capital punishment for attempted robbery without an arrest, police investigation, indictment, trial or conviction. Don’t tell the elites we have already returned to the days of the wild west.

You touched upon one of my many pet peeves: treating crime victims as culprits. In some places, the law requires a vehicle driver to lock his vehicle when he exits it. And forget about leaving keys in an unlocked car: you are regarded the guilty party. In fact, this is not only against the law in many places but it is grounds for your insurance company to tell you it isn’t paying a dime if your vehicle is stolen. But the pinnacle of this crazy mountain is that if you leave your keys in your vehicle and it is stolen and the thief hurts someone or breaks something while driving it, it could be your ass answering a civil suit for negligence! Maybe I’ll get on board with this shit just as soon as banks are blamed for keeping large amounts of cash on their premises–in wide-open vaults, or doctors are blamed for keeping drugs, needles, and syringes in their offices.
