Just When You Think They Can’t Get ANY Stupider . . . .

| January 23, 2015

. . . you read something like this.

Seven months after federal officials fired CGI Federal for its botched work on Obamacare website Healthcare.gov, the IRS awarded the same company a $4.5 million IT contract for its new Obamacare tax program.

The Daily Caller today has an article with more details. It’s worthwhile – if depressing and infuriating – reading.

It will be so damn nice to see the current      band of clueless idiots      DC clown krewe      Administration end. Maybe then we’ll see adult leadership again.

The stupidity of the modern liberal knows no bounds…

TheChief

I wonder who the major stock holders/owners are? I’d be willing to bet that they’re government liberals working on these programs.

ChipNASA

Somehow I think that All Points Logistics is involved.

Green Thumb

You beat me to it.

I need to get up earlier to hang in/out here!

A Proud Infidel®™

Maybe FirsTech is involved as well?

I’m not reading about this again. I had my fill yesterday, and between it and the other craptacular BS coming out of DC, I just needed some time off. Thus my light commenting.

If my situation permitted, I’d just take some personal gear, a rifle, and head off into the woods and spend my remaining days out there.

I am so done with this federal government, and the rat bastard spineless cocksuckers in the GOP have already turned their backs on those who elected them. I’m done with it all.

I’ve reached the point where I probably won’t vote again, because there’s pretty much no one I can trust in an elected office. No one.

2/17 Air Cav

I have been there. I will be there again. You will vote again. You may never be happy about it, but you will vote again. And welcome to the club.

Poetrooper

Tim, Air Cav is right. You will suck it up and vote for our rat bastards because the rat bastards on the other side are infinitely worse, as the past six years have shown. And by not voting you’re giving the libs two more votes: the one for them that your non-vote didn’t cancel on the Dem side and one less to count for our side. It doesn’t take a whole lot of that to give them a huge victory.

It’s far better to be governed by rat bastards who at least share SOME of your beliefs than to be ruled by rat bastard, liberal elitists who share NONE of your beliefs.

Casey

Poetrooper, I’d like to add that change may come, but -given DC- it will move slowly. It’s not like we can blow up the Death Star and fade to a happy ending. 🙂

I applied for a job with CGI late last year. I found it ironic that the position didn’t offer healthcare coverage, and provided a stipend instead.

OldSarge57

A lot of companies are starting to do that. Why? Because then you HAVE to sign up for Obamacare and they are off the hook. At least they offered some money towards it. From what I had read recently they want the same deal with Retired Tricare. Would not be surprised if Dependent Tricare tries to go the same route.

MustangCryppie

Please God NO!

CPARS? How does this happen? Clearly the acquisition folks at HHS didn’t do their jobs in regards to rating CGI Federal in CPARS. Either that or the source selection team at IRS didn’t do theirs. Or both.

On the flip side, the failed healthcare.gov contract was just one of many contracts across many agencies that CGI Federal has.

Frankly CGI Federal is just Stanley Associates. I worked a program that was staffed mostly by Stanley employees until CGI bought them out. I wasn’t impressed with Stanley Associates’ work. And it didn’t improve after being purchased by Canadians.

Anyone remember the relationship between Obama and Stanley Associates? They had to fire a couple folks for accessing Senator Obama’s passport application files during his Presidential campaign. Curious that two years later the company would be bought out by a Canadian company and a friend of Michelle Obama would be hired as a senior vice president? Not that Mrs. Whitley isn’t qualified, but it is curious that she would jump ship from a vice president position and a huge corp. like Unisys, for the same position at a smaller consulting firm like CGI Federal.

OSC(SW) Retired

Indeed.

It isn’t likely that they would have those same contracts as Stanley, and after the debacle with healthcare.gov there should have been a serious red ass entered into FAPIIS and IRS should have been able to see that. In fact, shit like this is exactly why FAPIIS exists. IRS should have made a non-responsibility or not qualified determination fairly easily on this one if HHS had made a correct entry into FAPIIS via CPARS regarding the termination for cause on the previous contract.

Sometimes watching the government at work is like watching a calf learn about electric fences. Sometimes the lesson is learned at the first encounter, other times….well not so much.

Veritas Omnia Vincit…Being raised on a farm that made me laugh. Also the article stated “CGI is a $10.5 billion Montreal-based company” I think contracts for the American government paid for with American tax dollars should go to American companies first when available. I understand the lowest bidder stuff and that we are indeed in a diverse world economy and no longer supply all our own needs but if there are IT companies available for this work in the U.S. they should be used first. Just my thoughts.

Poetrooper

VOV, when we lived in the sandy Florida Panhandle I had to string a hot wire around the base of the fence to keep the dogs from digging out. It worked but the problem was, the damned charger used a lot of energy and my electric bill went way up.

So I tried turning it off at irregular intervals to save money. It took those dogs about a week to pick up on when that wire was off and once again they were canine roto-rooters. My vet told me they could hear the electricity passing through the wire.

I never thought about it till this morning, but my dogs were smarter than these damned liberal Democrats.

Actually, both parties right now remind me of how my sheep learned to deal with temporary electric mesh fences. A bit of a story, and I hope you will bear with me while I set the scene: So when we first got our sheep, our land was still littered with old, badly maintained barbed wire fencing from the previous owners. We’d been told electric mesh fencing should work fine for sheep, so we invested in some of that, figuring then we’d be able to replace the barbed wire fencing with field fence at our leisure. (This was our first mistake: taking advice from people unfamiliar with this peculiar breed of sheep about them, and assuming that border fences could be left in a crappy condition indefinitely while this newfangled other solution was tried.) So we put a flock of probably 20 or so sheep in there; ram, ewes, and some lambs, not newborns, but not yet hoggets either. And at first it seemed to be working just great. For the first few weeks we were pretty well sold on this solution. Then they started getting out somehow, and we couldn’t figure out how; my husband had to be at his day job (except for weekends), which meant that whenever I realized they were out, I’d be running all over our small acreage and up and down the neighbors’ places, trying to chase a small, hardy, durable breed of sheep that are used to slippery, rocky terrain and can run along steep inclines with no problem. I, on the other hand, usually only manage to move fast when my life is in danger or I am supremely ticked off, and while Red Bull may give you wings, Scottish sheep mostly left me limping at ‘top speed’, shaking my fist and crying and cursing. I usually got them in – eventually – but we couldn’t figure out how in the name of Sam Hill they were getting out in the first place. Then one day I was in the kitchen looking out through the window while sipping my morning coffee, and I… Read more »

Thank you all for the great electric fence stories, I grew up in a small New England town with lots of dairy cows and we saw a few of those calves needing a 2nd or third lesson to avoid the wire…

The funny thing was calves often made an odd moo that sounded a lot like “oowwww” which is what my younger brother sounded like when he hit the fence the first time…

GDContractor

Count your blessings. The contract could have gone to FirsTech Solutions Inc. of Bethesda, MD. Or, worse, All Points Logistics. I heard Phildo is using the right font now, maybe. Word on the street is that CGI took Elaine Ricci out of the picture.

It’s called banging your head against a brick wall. It’s fascinating to watch, but it’s just as well it doesn’t happen to you.

OWB

OK, what’s the problem, Hondo? They did exactly what they were supposed to do, so why shouldn’t they be rewarded for having done it so well by being paid to continue to do it some more?

The aim of this crowd is to break anything which works efficiently, to spend large amounts of money to build stuff which can never work, and to get sane people to run around pulling out their hair in frustration. Of course, they are all living large on our dime while they destroy anything they see which they don’t like, or just cause they want to.

David

Come now to Texas, where a company awarded a $110 million contract openly hired a consultant on the state approval board. When appraised with the other 51 contenders they came in at something like 35th place – and won the contract on a no-bid basis, I guess because their performance in the appraisal was so strong? Bear in mind there are NO statewide position held by Democrats here, so this is an entirely Republican baby. Both parties are the same, plutocracies with populist advertising and driven entirely by self interest.

JBS

During contract bidding, “Weren’t you the guys that screwed up the whole Obamacare thing last time?” “No, that wasn’t us. Just someone that looked like us.” “Oh, okay Here’s some money then.”
