Damn, I Can Hardly Believe It!
Former President Carter: U.S. “Slow” In Preparing For Ebola
He said that yesterday. So that means that Jimmy the Clueless has been correct on a substantive issue twice!
There’s your proof that a stopped clock really is right twice a day . . . .

Is Hell freezing over?
i’m starting to believe it might be
Nah, Hell can’t be freezing over. The Cubs aren’t in the World Series yet.
But the Royals and Orioles are in the ALCS. (smile)
Looks like 28 years of rally caps finally paid off for the Royals.
Hey rb, pass me an ice cube!
Well, you know he’s gotta get something right from time to time. I mean, after all, he got us to use the metric system….no, that didn’t happen.
Um…oh! The introduction of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar Coin!
No…no…that didn’t go over very well either….
THE HOSTAGE RES….no…..not that…..
Killer rabbits.
Ssshrubbery?
Gave away the Panama Canal.
That did happen.
I still despise that sumbitch. His whole-scale reduction in forces, especially in training time and resources, (which affected maintenance) led directly to the deaths of two of my friends.
Not only that, but they endangered the nation. Flight hours were substantially cut, therefor less training was accomplished. That could have been a problem if we’d had to go to war, a real possibility in those days.
It was a requirement in out community (P-3, ASW) that every flight crew qualify every year with live torpedoes. Each crew was required to locate, track, fix & engage a target on the range. That meant 12 MK-46 torpedoes/squadron. Not a big deal until Carter’s bean counters started “saving” the nation.
By 1978, only 2 aircrew were permitted to use live warshots. Heck, we weren’t even given live practice rounds. My then squadron had to draw 2 crew numbers out of a hat to see which crews got to do the real deal. The other 10 crews had to qualify using the simulator. Not even airborne simulation, mind you, but the ground based 14B44 system. Effed up as a soup sandwich.
Can you imagine training bomber crews only in simulators, maybe once every few years getting to actually fly a practice mission and drop ordnance on a range? Tank crews? Infantry having to point and say “Bang?”
Similar shit happened under Clinton, and now under president mom-jeans. These guys never learn, our enemies become emboldened, we don’t have sufficient resources to support every mission tasked and thus become strained to the breaking point. It’s the fallacy of the “Peace-Dividend”.
There ain’t no such thing. All that these leftists are doing is endangering our nation in order to use those “savings” to expand welfare and pander to the lazy and ignorant, the freeloaders.
Sorry for the long rant. I’m under the weather and it’s apparently time for more coffee. 🙂
AW1 Tim: agreed. I rather dislike the man myself.
And yeah – the Army did a lot of simulated stuff during the late 1970s through 1981 (Carter’s last budget year) because of his damnfool defense policies. He’s also the idiot who made foodstamps a free entitlement vice requiring at least a partial, token payment for same.
And the current welfare folks forget that food stamps were supposed to be “supplemental”. They were never designed to feed your family and free up cash for smokes and 30-racks. They were supposed to add to your food budget.
Don’t get all excited people..Jimmy has been reading our comments and then parroting them for the papers and cameras. That’s all it is.
I’m almost sure that TAH is bookmarked on his iphone and he just picks some of OUR comments when pressed to give his own.
He was a better engineer than leader/politician. His energy policy was actually not too bad. Just sayin.
Yeah, other than creating DOE (abject mistake), raising the Federal gasoline tax by about 1/3 (idiocy), encouraging “green energy” and environmental whackjobs by endorsing solar publicly through installing essentially useless solar panels on the White House (foolish waste, bad example, bad politics), and failing to endorse the safety and use of nuclear energy after TMI (unbelievable idiocy from someone trained in nuclear engineering), his energy policies were “spot on”.
I hope the sarcasm in that last clause is self-evident. Based on what I’ve seen during my lifetime, I’m not particularly impressed with Carter’s engineering acumen.
Lemme guess, you either weren’t around, or don’t remember 1978-79 very well, do you?
I was around in ’78-’79, as far as remembering…well it was the ’70s. I just happen to think the strategic oil reserves was a pretty good idea, mostly because it provided me with income (a job). I do not recall what his policies were regarding nuclear safety, but there were a lot of nukes under construction during his term. I admit, I never saw him working at any of the ones I was employed at. I know nothing about solar panels at the white house, but I have never been there either. He had some pretty brilliant people on his staff that went on to bigger and better things. As far as taxes are concerned, I remember having a discussion with a friend of mine in 1979 when the price of gas went to $0.78 per gallon. Our conclusion was that gas will soon be $2.50 per gallon, and people will still pay for it. As far as Jimmy goes, I did not care for him at all. I see the president’s job as maintaing a strong national defense & protecting the constitution of the United States. I really am not prepared to debate the merits & failures of JC’s energy policies with an intellectual heavyweight that uses words like “acumen”, since I am transcribing all this on my phone-thing.
SaraSnipe: the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve was the result of the 1973-1974 Oil Crisis during the Nixon Administration; enabling legislation was passed in 1975, during the Ford Administration. The fact that construction of SPR facilities began under Carter was a historical accident.
Don’t give Carter any credit for the SPR. Carter had nothing to do with it; he simply happened to be sitting in the Oval Office when operations began. Nixon and Ford are responsible for it.
I also wouldn’t give Carter any credit for the nuclear plants under construction during his Administration. Construction of a nuclear plant takes literally years – as did approval for same in the 1960s and 1970s. Any under construction during the Carter Administration were planned and approved years prior to him becoming President.
And you might want to see the list here (sortable by date) of US nuclear commercial power plant projects that were cancelled. By my count, only 8 began construction during the Carter Administration – and over 30 were cancelled and closed out uncompleted during his Administration.
Damn, now I have to look up what it was that brought me to make my statement, and the validity of it. CRS.
In other news, democraps in general are turning their backs – in HERDS, mind you – on nancy pelosi.
Before you get all excited, that is in Congress, not the voting democraps.
Here’s another item: bodaprez goes ‘home’ to Chicago for a fundraiser dinner. 25 whole people show up for it, plus a few ‘fans’ showing up at his residence. Hillary (the one who did not climb Mt. Everest) on the other hand, got 950 peeps at her fundraiser dinner in Chitown.
Is there a message in that? It used to be between 1,000 and 1500 in attendance at these moneybag doings.
Anyone think maybe people are coming out of their comas? I live in hope.
Oh dear sweet baby Jesus I hope so…
Nope. Because anyone who thinks Cankles will be any better than Bodaprez is smoking some heavy shit.
Not sure about that, NHSparky. She at least has a backbone and knows her azz from a hole in the ground.
No way in hell I’d have voted for either. But I do believe H. Clintoon would have done a better job so far that the current Occupant, 1600 Pa Ave, Wash DC.
I it better to have an opponent who is spineless or actively belligerent? She has never done anything to indicate she is anything other than hostile to the military. To be excessively polite, I don’t see her as an improvement.
I do not agree with her politics, and would not vote for her.
That said: H. Clintoon may not be the military’s friend, but IMO she is also not an utter fool. She is also not naive regarding how the real world works.
Spineless, foolish, and naive is a bad combination in someone who has control of the US military. IMO, yes – even H. Clintoon would be an improvement over what we have today.
So basically, she’s the smartest window-licker on the short bus. Not exactly a rousing endorsement.
Hondo, you have set a low bar : )
And you may rest assured the Hillary will do her level bst to live down to it
Elections are coming up soon. So Democraps will say anything to get that vote. They be right back to sticking their noses up Obama ass when the elections are done
Carter should stop implying and just come out and say it, “Hah, I didn’t have the worst administration ever. Take that history buffs.”
Like a stopped watch or random H&I fires.
Carter is still a scumbag. There’s not a commiescum tyrant he’s met that the scumbag hasn’t fallen on his knees in front of and offered his mouth for service.
Lets not forget that Carter the Scumbag was instrumental in Chavez’s takeover of Venezuela through voter fraud and manipulation.
Why the hell is Carter running his mouth so much all of a sudden? The man is politically non-relevant for a long time, and suddenly he starts blabbing.
That’s Clinton’s job, not Carter.
Can’t tell if he’s like a dick or a turtle at this point, though. Either way, he pops out whenever he feels like.
