Ron Paul refugees protest The Fed

| November 22, 2008

A group of about 50 refugees from the Ron Paul movement gathered across the street from the Federal Reserve Building on Constitution Avenue in DC at about 1 this afternoon. I don’t know what their plan was exactly, but I only stuck around for about a half hour while some guy named Jason played music.

As near as I can tell these folks want to return to gold and throw away our paper money because the Fed is “printing money” to get us out of debt. They get that idea from half-assed listening to CNBC which says the Fed is “in effect” printing money by making money cheaper to borrow between banks when they lower the over-night Fed interest rates. Of course, those of us who try to explain that to them are just sheep. you can tell how smart these folks are because they think their mighty numbers will convince the government to close the Fed;

There were almost more police than protesters;

The reason I went is because Kokesh was there. He’s found a little pond in the Ron Paul refugee movement where he can be a big fish. I got the tip off to the protest at his blog yesterday where complained that it was going to be lame because they couldn’t get a permit to set up on the Fed’s side of the street. Well, he was right that it was lame, but i think if they’d held it in the Oval Office it’d have been lame.

Kokesh MC’d the event, but after listening to Jason for a half-hour with no indication as to when the speechifying was going to start, I left along with a good portion of the crowd who weren’t so dedicated to stand in the freezing cold (wind chill was 22 degrees) to listen to Jason sing about how we don’t care as much as he does.

Here’s a video that shows the whole crowd;

That’s Griff the Stiff interviewing Elvis.

Now remember, FOX is biased and only presents the conservative view.

Hrrmmm…

Too bad Elvis was involved. The actual concept, though, has some validity.

A reasoned case can be made the absence of a ‘metal’ standard opened a window best left shut. Tomes have written about the issue.

Thanks for going.

RP is the man! Sorry to see his movement fall on hard times and lame support. He was the ONLY voice of reason through the campaign. The only one who you can go back to his comments and see the truth. The others all left you with statements you eventually see through.
Good luck with the new president. I will respect him about as much as you libs respected my Presiedent, George W. Bush.
