Bloomberg ad sends opposite message

| July 31, 2014

The Bloomberg group Everytown for Gun Safety made this video to make the issue of restricting domestic violence about guns, but it seems to have the opposite effect. A woman is being stalked by her ex-whatever so she calls the police and before the police arrive, he takes the child and shoots the woman. From FoxNY;

New York News

Of course, if the stalker had a hammer or a screwdriver or a heavy vase, the police still wouldn’t have arrived in time to rescue the woman, so the ad seems to advocate for women to arm themselves. Well, to a rational person, anyway.

I love when the morons reinforce our point for us.

The problem is; they’re too stupid to know it. It’s all about emotion with them, not logic, not common sense. So, they put out an ad hoping to put a fabricated fear of firearms into people. I know many people that have that fabricated fear in them. They get all sandy va-jayjay when they even see a firearm, but it depends on who has it. We are conditioned to not think twice about it if the person is in uniform and has any type of badge on i.e. cops/security guards. That’s the conditioning that we have to work against.

He was outside pounding on the door and yelling and she is on the phone. So far, no gun. Tick tock. Forget that he kicks the door in and enters the home. Still no gun. Tick tock. Forget that he walks over and grabs the child. No gun yet. Tick tock. Finally, a gun appears and it’s in his hand.

Female Overvoice: Don’t do what this woman did. She had a lot of time to retrieve a gun–if only she had one. Instead, she called for help that could not get to her in time. She could have protected herself. She could have protected her child. But she had no gun. When the police arrived, they found her dead and the child gone. Don’t let this happen to you. Buy a gun. And buy it today.

Agree completely that that the voice over would be a great follow-up to this commercial.

Lets run down the list of what the anti-gun crew say you should do rather than owning a gun:

1. Get a restraining order – Check she did that, doesn’t appear to have help as he’s at the door anyway.

2. Retreat into home – Check, but he’s pounding on the door and in fact kicks it in.

3. Call 911 for help – Check, she’s on the phone with them as me kicks in the door.

So, she follow all their steps, help was too far away, and at when it was all said and done, NONE of them actually protected her. So based on this the anti-gun crowd appear to be saying: being a sheep and cowering in your home doesn’t work, restraining orders don’t work, 911 won’t help because they are too far away.

So based on all this I would say they have done a great job of illustrating why it owning a firearm for self defense is sometimes the only solution. Thanks nanny Bloomberg for making our point for us.

Great commercial…for our side. The woman on the street interview was a hoot. “If this is actually happening then we need to raise awareness”. Love that liberal answer to everything they don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground about. “Raise awareness”, to what? Domestic violence, Check, been done. Guns in criminals hands, Check, been done. Unscrewing liberal heads and giving a thorough toilet brush scrubbing, Uncheck, still waiting on that one. (Sincerely waiting too.)
Bloomberg is an ass hat hypocrite walking around with personal security. The other issue is, had my mother been that woman, she was no shrinking violet. We kids would have been behind her, running to the neighbors and she would have knifed, clubbed, skilleted, whatever it took and died trying to keep someone like that away. Father or no father. Ex or no ex.
So I think, first, stop the ass holes on the street from interviews for a “straw poll”. Most are pretty ill informed, especially in large metro areas where they live in just their little protected corner of the city. Plus it makes the reporting station look stupid. Next, raise awareness if they want, that an armed woman would be alive with her child safe in that scenario. Then show a commercial about the speed of a round headed down range, versus a LEO headed out of the cafeteria to his squad car for a domestic call, half a burgh away.
The results should convince a lot of folks.

Sparks

Addendum to above. Were I living in a big metro area like Chicago, DC, NYC, etc, and was unarmed and in a situation like that. I wouldn’t call 9/11 and say there’s a guy kicking in my door. I would call and say there’s a police officer down out front and has been apparently shot. Then they’ll be there at light speed.

White kid, white mom, white stalker… where’s that racial diversity Nanny Bloomberg? Did you lose your your laminated racial quota quick reference?

The Other Whitey

Dontcha know it’s raaaaacist to depict any crime being committed by somebody who isn’t white?

Old Trooper

No, he didn’t lose his racial quota card. On the contrary, he’s using it to perfection by showing that only white males are evil and use guns.

Ex-PH2

He hasn’t been to Chicago, has he? No, I didn’t think so.

nbcguy54

The NRA couldn’t have done any better. Wow.

I especially like the part where the 911 operator asks the victim if she has a restraining order. The part we didn’t hear was the operator telling the victim to quickly make a hat out of the RO and put it on because we all know that ROs have a mystical ability to ward off evil via it’s invisible protective electron inducing protective shield. They’re bullet-proof too.

Thanks Bloomingidiotberg for helping to show the importance of arming honest, law-abiding citizens.

All else aside about this backfired commercial for gun grabbing, let’s say everything that we saw in that commercial occurred but he had no gun because he was unable to legally obtain a gun of any sort. So, he pounds, bangs on the door, kicks it in and, once inside, pulls a knife, a hammer, a box cutter, or piano wire from his pocket. Does that make everything okay? But if she has a gun–even one of Biden’s shotguns, and knows how to use it, she wins–and the state Victim’s Assistance Fund will probably pay for replacing the brain-spattered walls, carpet and furniture.

Ex-PH2

How about this instead: he did not have a legally obtained gun. Instead, he got one off the street during a drug deal, and carried that in addition to a box cutter, knife or whatever.

She, on the other hand, had a legally obtained loaded gun, plus a state permit, 911 speed dial and phone on speaker, a self-defense course from Krav Maga, and shot him in some part of his lower extremities just as he broke through the door.

Hint: don’t splatter his brains. It’s messy. Splatter his personal anatomy. 🙂 And put him in jail for many, many years.

There, that’s much better. Isn’t it?

The Other Whitey

I dunno, Ex. That’s a pretty small target on a guy like that (or a guy like Bloomberg for that matter). This situation may not be the best setting for trick shots! 🙂

nbcguy54

That’s why I use frangible rounds in the “home defense” pistol. Don’t want bullet holes in my walls…

Sparks

nbcguy54…Roger That Sir! No through and through rounds.

James in Gulf Breeze

+1 – my first 2 are always frangible when I carry

David

I respectfully disagree – when push comes to shove, no trick bullets. I want a bullet that is 100% reliable. Something like a 250 grain SWC at around 900 fps, .44 or .45 caliber. Too, I live in my own house with brick walls.

B Woodman

“And put him in jail for many, many years.”
And WHY in the name of poor taxpayers, should we pay upwards of $50K per year to house this limp-dick for life, instead of spending maybe $1k for burial in a cardboard coffin in the mud marsh corner of the dump.

http://3gbwir1ummda16xrhf4do9d21bsx.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/themes/everytown/assets/everytown-mass-shooting-analysis.pdf That link takes you to their study on mass shootings which is what they call any homicide where 2 or more are victimized. They draw the same conclusion as you did Jonn but I don’t think they realize it either. They point out that 1% of all homicides are mass shootings and 70% of mass shooting are domestic violence homicides. To put that 1% in perspective there were just about 9000 firearm homicides among the total 12650 homicides in 2012 (last full UCR report issued by the FBI). So 1% means that 90 people were killed by mass shooting. While that is extremely tragic, it’s interesting to note that 40 people were killed by dogs in 2012. Meaning you are only about twice as likely to die in a mass shooting as you are to die being chewed to death by dogs. Had those mass shooting victims been armed maybe half could have saved themselves making mass shooting an even more irrelevant talking point in the gun control debate. Bloomberg was right about one thing, cutting the sugar intake and reducing the body weight of americans to cut death from heart disease and obesity would save far more lives than eliminating all murders. Murder by all means was less than 13,000. Stairs killed twice that number, and suicide killed three times as many as murder. The big killer though is being a fatty and/or a smoker Heart Disease and Cancer killed over a million people…saving just 1 out of 10 chubby smokers would save 6 times as many people as eliminating all the murder in the nation. Murder is a horrible crime, mass shootings even more so but the reality is most murders are the result of crime or drunken/drug fueled arguments and that makes is relatively avoidable for most of us. If the liberals are sincere when they say things like, “If it saves one life it’s worth it” (we know they are not sincere or even honest) they would be pressing to make stair case safety and body weight a priority because both of those things affect… Read more »

VOV, thank you for your insight yet again. Well said.

2/17 Air Cav.

From time to time I have followed up on the purported stats that the libs and man-hating types like to throw around and the numbers are all over the place. It’s outlandish and the stats are wholly suspect but widely used and re-used. That definition thingy is no small part of it. {‘Oh, you say that your sister dated him three years ago? That qualifies as domestic violence.’) I kid you not.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Agreed, most of those stats are some wienies interpretation of the wrong set of data. All of the data is available at the FBI site free of charge. Their UCR site is a wealth of information on violent crime.

That site indicates we are safer now than 20 years ago, and it indicates that murder by firearm is a very unlikely event for most people. As I said it is tragic when it happens, and when it’s a domestic violence thing it’s even more tragic.

I found the best way to even up with a woman who no longer wants you is fucking her friends…

Doc Savage

Nice job Bloomberg…..watching that video, the first message I took away??

Get a gun, do NOT count on the police to get there in time, or you WILL be a dead.

“This message brought to you by the liberal institute to promote victimization and nanny state reliance”

OWB

Their message seems to be, “All white women deserve to die.” What? That wasn’t what they meant to say?

Once again proving that the real “war on women” comes from the left.

E-6 type, 1 ea

The NRA needs to hijack this video, and add a trailer that says “Don’t be a victim. This message brought to you by the NRA.” Then run that bitch during the Super Bowl.

Hondo

As the old saying goes: “When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.”

It’s not the job of the police to protects you; the SCOTUS has held exactly that. Rather, they enforce the law and investigate crimes.

Self-defense is a personal responsibility.

Pinto Nag

It’s not about a gun, on either side of that commerical. Do you know how many deadly weapons are in an average home? Things that are sharp, things that are heavy, things that are caustic, things that are toxic. Self defense is a mindset, not a tool.

Bloomberg, let me make a point about your stupid, dithering, cowering woman commerical. If I could have gotten my hands on a PENCIL in that situation, the cops would have stepped over that puke once they arrived, and would have had to question ME to find out what happened. I’m female, 5’6″, overweight, and 51 years old, and the saddest day of a perps life would be to confront me in my own home. I’m a gun owner, and yes, the gun certainly would be what I would go for — if I had time. If not…I’d improvise. And I’m one vicious bitch when you threaten me, and NOBODY thinks more of my life than ME.

Ex-PH2

I’m with PN on this. There is SO much stuff in the household that can be used for self defense, which is never mentioned. Just a spray can of cooking spray and a long barreled butane lighter will act as a blowtorch.

What is it with Bloomberg and his idiotic notions about women, anyway? Does he do this because he’s really a scared widdo girl deep down inside? He’s afraid of his own shadow, for pete’s sake. What a dipstick.

nbcguy54

“Do you know how many deadly weapons are in an average home?”

Never mind deadly weapons in the home. I wonder home many deadly weapons are hidden in Chief Shipley’s hair!

Pinto Nag

007 Hair. Licensed to Kill.

Heh.

Nag, since you’re in Montana, could we perhaps set up a meeting between you and Walsh?

Heh…

Only if the tickets sold in anticipation of the resulting frakus were used for my legal fees, PT. 😉

Well, I for one agree that guns should be banned in order to prevent stalker ex-husbands from killing their wives. I mean, just imagine if, say, OJ Simpson had had access to firearms? Why, Nicole Brown Simpson might be dead! She certainly owes her life to the fact that OJ didn’t have a gun; just ask her, she’ll tell you.

Bloomberg’s group is only portraying women in the most sexist manner possible being inept, meek, and incapable for doing anything but making stupid faces when it comes to the protection of not only themselves but their familiy.

Leave it to Libtards to once again intentionally negatively stereotype to get emotional responses.

Locking people from commenting on their trash propaganda is their calling card. If this were Republicans putting out such trash the media would be all over the anti women message clearly displayed here. How many women on are Bloomberg’s security teams? I bet zero.

nbcguy54

“Bloomberg’s group is only portraying women in the most sexist manner possible being inept, meek, and incapable for doing anything but making stupid faces when it comes to the protection of not only themselves but their familiy”

Too bad that yankee bastards didn’t have an opportunity to meet my mom – all 5 feet nothing of her. My dad was a trucker and always gone during the week. I remember once as a kid waking up in the middle of the night to the sounds of gunfire. Some neighbor kids were trying to egg and TP the house and mom was chasing them down the street with a single shot .410 shotgun, getting off about 1 shot every 10 seconds. Not bad for running in slippers and a nightgown – I’ll never forget it. Thank god she was a bad shot or that would be a whole ‘nuther story. Another sight I’ll never forget is her threatening to kick a one B.J. Johnson’s ass for being a lying sack of shit (look up his name and fake SEAL on google). He was my little sister’s karate instructor for a while.

Nope – this sterotyping of poor defenseless females doesn’t work in my neighborhood and I wish more folks would quit buying into it. A pissed off or a cornered mama bear can whoop some ass.
