Shinseki Hot Seat News

| May 30, 2014

According to CNN, the President says that he’s going to have a “serious conversation” with Department of Veterans’ Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki about whether or not he can continue in his job. I wonder why they haven’t had this “serious conversation” last week…or the week before.

Shinseki talked to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans and told them that now, because of the VA OIG’s report, he’s going head-hunting at the Phoenix VA hospital;

Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki says he’s initiated the removal of senior leaders of the Phoenix VA medical center. He made the remarks in an address at an annual conference for the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans in Washington.

You know, because he didn’t know about it before. In the Army, we would have said that this is a result of the “command climate”, in other words, people were acting with the same attitude that the commander projected. If the commander didn’t care about something, no one else did, either.

Shinseki was only concerned with numbers, so all of his subordinates acted in a way that pleased Shinseki. So manipulating the numbers was their only focus. I’m sure the folks across the country in the VA hospitals that are under the gun now are shocked that Shinseki is tossing them under the bus, because they were only doing what he expected of them.

My only concern is who will replace him. I’m pretty sure that there is no one in the wings who is capable of straightening the agency out. Coby sent us this link to News Leader where the editorial board thinks Jim Webb would be a good choice, but I’m no fan of Jim Webb. He sent me a copy of his latest book to review and I can’t summon the intestinal fortitude to slag through the thing – because I just don’t like Jim Webb. Although, Webb would be forced to abandon his Senate seat which would be good.

Barry O’Reefer (da Ghettofabulous One) doesn’t have the balls of a wombat to make that nomination. Plus, Mattis would be kicking so muck ass that he’s be needing a knee and hip replacement within 6 months of being sworn in…

UpNorth

“(H)e’s be needing a knee and hip replacement within 6 months of being sworn in”. Well, as long as he didn’t depend on the VA for the procedure. 🙂

Combat Historian

“…Although, Webb would be forced to abandon his Senate seat which would be good…”

Webb has already given up his senate seat; the seat was filled by Tim Kaine, the personification of a lefty idiot obamao bootlicker…

Guess GEN Beret will soon announce that he needs to spend more time with his family.

Dana

Maybe we can all get a new Beret and feel good “ourselves”.

Smaj

The entire culture within the VA and VHA needs to change and that won’t happen by merely changing the top guy. No question, that feckless loser Shinseki should have been fired weeks ago. The congress must enact changes so the next VA secretary can hire quality, dedicated people and fire the vast amounts of deadwood who aren’t there to help vets. The AFGE needs to be reined in, too. Unless this happens there will be more “shocking” stories of VA ineptitude in coming years.

The toughest issue for the WH bright boys and girls is whether Beret Boy should resign or be fired. Either way, the investigation–which The Emperor said he would await to be concluded before taking action–is not concluded. If The Emperor wants to appear to be tough and sincere, he’ll shitcan Shitseki. If he wants to continue to be the meterosexual, Mom-jeans wearing, can’t-throw-a-baseball candy ass, he’ll allow Beret Boy to resign. Tough call.

You have two incompetent CEOs who are going to have a ‘long, serious talk’ with each other? And you expect something to come out of this, right?

Guys, guys, guys!! You have two idiots doing another beer drinking meet in the Rose Garden. Have you forgotten that little episode? What are you thinking? Do you REALLY expect anything at all to come out of a ‘serious conversatio’ between a political dilettante whose days on the job are now numbered, and an incompetent ex-Army officer who has a permanent look of bewilderment pasted on his face?

The only way you can straighten out this mess is to dismiss all the sandcrabs in the DVA who NEVER had any military service, replace them with ex-Navy PNs and YNs from the Navy back in my day, and tell those people they have 12 months to get the paperwork mess straightened out, nothing gets thrown away, and nobody gets put on wait lists, period.

And if Shitsucker doesn’t step down and go home, then yes, he shoudl be fired.

Sparks

Ex I never thought of that but you are correct. If they replaced them with the clerks I knew in the Army and Air Force with orders to get it straight, it would be a lot better in a much shorter time.

“Shinseki talked to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans and told them that now, because of the VA OIG’s report, he’s going head-hunting at the Phoenix VA hospital”

Meanwhile, at the Phoenix VA, it’s all like, “Hey straighten up your desk! Throw those candy bars out! Get rid of the computer games! Shinseki is a comin’ and he ain’t gettin’ my head. I’m gonna look like the model of efficiency here! Hey YOU sir, next in line, come on up sir, would you mind filling out this short survey on you personal experience with me? It’ll help a lot and I’ll push you right through to see a doctor!

HMCS(FMF) ret

And what? Promoting each one of the incompetent SOB’s to be his personal assistant (aka coffee bytch) in DC? Shitstain doesn’t have the courage or balls to fix the system, and Barry doesn’t give a flying hooha about fixing it, just protecting his peeps (government employee unions).

And who takes it in the pooper in the end? The vets (as usual)…

I agree with the smaj above… and this issue is going to be used as my subject for my MBA capstone paper for school – and I’ll have my recommendations on how to fix this mess. (BTW – will be done with school in 3 months!!!)

NHSparky

Pretty much every employee in DVA needs to have a, “Come to Jesus” meeting ASAP. The culture there needs changed as well as a whole shitload of managers.

Green Thumb

He is headhunting is just Phoenix?

That list needs to grow. Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, Montana, New Mexico, Illinois and so forth.

Both VHA and VBA sides of the house.

Call Willie Clark, the Western Area (All Western States) Director at his publicly available but “unlisted” office phone and tell him what you think. That is if he is at his desk….

Willy Clark 602-627-2746

Sparks

Green Thumb Question for you. Are the federal workers in the DVA system, you know the usual ass hats the vet has to see in the process of intake, unionized?

Arby

One suggestion I have seen is for 0bama to appoint Mitt Romney as the head of the VA. But, 0bama’s ego is too big for that to happen…

OWB

And he is gone.

Who is Sloan?

Resignation even. Fat-fingered phone’s small keyboard.

Scotty

The word id that Shinseki just submitted his resignation .. ( Unconfirmed )

OWB

Dare we actually believe what the OIC says just this one time? He himself says that he accepted the resignation. On TV. In real time. Still, we usually can’t believe anything coming out from between his teeth.
