Shinseki facing another subpoena
CNN reports that Congress is contemplating a subpoena summoning Secretary Eric Shinseki to explain to them the failures of his department in regards to their treatment of veterans, you know their whole raison d’être;
The Shinseki subpoena will cover e-mails that allegedly discussed the destruction of a secret list, first reported by CNN, of veterans waiting for care at a Phoenix VA hospital.
The panel agreed to issue the subpoena in a voice vote Thursday morning.
Shinseki is accustomed to Congressional subpoenas. The first time I saw him in person was when I sat behind him while he explained why he bought the first load of berets from China to the House Small Business Committee when they threatened to subpoena his ass.
Meanwhile, at the White House, they’re circling the wagons around him;
“The President remains confident in Secretary Shinseki’s ability to lead the department and take appropriate action,” Carney said, repeating the White House response this week to two veterans groups’ calls for Shinseki’s ouster.
I don’t what there is about him that gives the president any confidence in his abilities because he hasn’t demonstrated a measure of ability to lead anything. He’s an incompetent boob.
Thanks to ANCCPT for the link.

I think you’ve answered your own question. This administration glorifies incompetence. Which is why folks like Eric Holder and Lois Lerner still have jobs.
Lebben, I disagree about Holder. There’s nothing incompetent about that man. Unethical, politically motivated, and partisan as the day is long, but not incompetent. He’s doing the job he’s there to do: Provide legal fire support for the Obama administration, and he’s very very good at it. Too bad we don’t have a media willing to push. All it would take is one good leak…..
Holder was hired by Bush, Jr.
He worked as acting attorney general until the position was filled by John Ashcroft. He then went into private practice, went to work for the Obama campaign in 07 and was President Obama’s nominee for AG, and confirmed by the Democratic controlled senate in 09. A temporary Bush administration official as a placeholder, not a hire.
“The Pope may launch his Interdict
The Union, it’s Decree;
But the bubble is blown
And the bubble is pricked
By us and such as we.
Remember the battle and stand aside
While thrones and powers confess
That the King of all the children of Pride
Is the Press, the Press, THE PRESS!”
–Kipling
All one has to do is be a good little Sparkle Pony and toe the party line to stay as part of B. Hussein 0bama & Company, the only ones fired have been those dissenting with the jug-eared wannabe Emperor, honesty and competence ARE NOT required!!
It reminds me of Soviet Russia where adherence to party dogma was held in higher esteem than actual competence at a given task.
All Shinseki has to do is give everyone a new hat and everything will be okay.
Mandate a Shinseki beret
The kind U find in a Chinese hat store
A Shinseki beret
And when it is worn, they still won’t do no more
A Shinseki beret
I think that works, yeah
Of COURSE he retains the full confidence of the White House. He’s an incompetent, politically reliable hack who does as he’d told. That line and the line about ‘I serve at the pleasure of the President’ line drive me insane. If you suck at your job (Caring for the nation’s veterans) badly enough that our Veterans organizations are calling for your removal and the People’s House is calling for answers due to pressure from the People, you Sir, need to do the honorable thing and at least offer your resignation. But because this is Shinseki, and it’s the Obama administration, of course that’s not how it’s going to go down.
Carney said, “The President remains confident in Secretary Shinseki’s ability to lead the department and take appropriate action”. That statement is disingenuous. If the WH is confident, it cannot be confident about Shinseki with respect to those things. If the WH is talking about those things then they cannot be confident at all.
Boys and girls, we need to write letters and express our outrage at the shabby treatment of our veterans. For sure, the White House can find someone more capable than Mr. Shinseki.
Shinsucky and bodaprez both have their nuts in bodaprez’s wife’s purse. You all ought to know that by now. Nothing will change until the regime changes.
Have said it before and will continue to say it: He is doing exactly what he was hired to do – as are all the others. Rewards are handed out to those who cause the most damage. Whether through incompetence or deliberate design is irrelevant. As long as money is wasted and those pesky old people and veterans are at least vilified, killed when possible, marginalized frequently, and ignored the rest of the time, everything is good.
“The President remains confident in Secretary Shinseki’s ability to lead the department and take appropriate action,” Carney said,”
Anyone else NOT surprised by that response.
Guess it depends on your definition of “appropriate.”
