Everyone wants a CIB

Poser tattoo2

Everyone on God’s green Earth has been sending us this 5 year-old video. It’s one of those reality tattoo programs (which I can’t seem to watch) about a Marine who gets a Combat Infantry Badge tattooed on his tramp space. I have trouble believing that a Marine would want that, although I do understand the attraction to the Army badge.

Love the Category “Dumbass Bullshit.” Love it.

A guy getting a tramp stamp? Regardless of his branch, getting a tattoo of ANYTHING there is a bad idea. Unless the tattoo read, “Exit Only.”

TSO

I have one with 2 stars on my schlong.

ghp95134

TSO …. so’s you could pull rank?

(^__^)

ConcernedCitizen

Brings a new meaning to the term ‘ring-knocker.’

Hondo

Pics or it didn’t happen . . . .

Drc

What the hell really?!? For one that tattoo is the worst CIB tattoo ever!

Scotty

I wonder if he gives reach around’s too ?

MSGRetired

Scotty, I think he is hoping for a reach around considering the placement of his CIB !

Sparks

Mistakes. The tattoo guy says, “a badge he earned” NOT. Guy says, “I’m getting it for my buddy who didn’t make it back”. Buddy was a Marine as well. He should have gotten a portrait of R. Lee Ermey on his back instead. OR, this is a thought, how about a nice tattoo of the Marine Eagle, Globe and Anchor to honor the Marines and your fallen comrade!

Hondo

So, he’s a Marine who got an Army CIB tattoo to “honor” a Marine buddy who “didn’t make it back”. And he got said tattoo right over his butt.

Oh-kay . . . .

I’m really not getting this guys…but I’m old. Why not a CAR? What Marine would want Army stuff other than EOD, Basic Airborne, etc. Certainly not a CIB. This is just really weird. Even his son is wearing an ARMY t-shirt.

Hondo

Doesn’t make any sense to me either, 1AirCav69. But combine whiskey, youth, dollars, and a tattoo parlor, and you can get some truly foolish behavior. (smile)

1AirCav69

Hondo…duh, yep I remember something like that in Phoenix City. Thanks for reminding me. 🙂

Green Thumb

Phenix City.

Old school.

Because the Marine CAR is just a ribbon, and comparing it to the CIB, which one looks cooler?

2/16

The CIB is only available to Infantrymen… or at least it was now I hear they let 18 series MOS become eligible if they are satisfactorily serving in an Infantry role. No disrespect intended toward the CAR but it is open to any Marine of any MOS. I doesn’t make sense to me though why a Marine would want it other than the fact that the CAR is a ribbon and you really can’t do much of a design with it. Either way this guy did not earn the CIB nor did his friend.

1AirCav69

Yep the CIB is cooler than just a ribbon but since I have a CIB would I put a CAR on my windshield or rear window that many Marines and Sailors sport here? I wouldn’t because I never earned it. I just never met a Marine yet that would have Army stuff he didn’t earn, let alone a tattoo of it. Oh, well, different strokes so to speak.

Alexander

Horse shit.

CWORet

Because a big ol’ CAR tramp stamp would be just as ghay, Hondo. Ima disown this wierd derbil.

Just An Old Dog

I never knew of a single Marine that would even dream about getting another services award tattooed on them. The only exception would be prior service guys who already had them.

LanceCooley

My thoughts exactly.

David

hell, my son-in-law is a Marine who won’t even wear a Ranger-Up shirt because the word Ranger is associated with the Army.

Hayabusa

There is so much concentrated FAIL here it is hard to know where to begin.

It’s not even a well-executed tattoo, as far as tattoos go.

One of the things I always appreciated about the Corps was how it kept our uniforms “clean”.

No extra patches to tell folk what unit we were in, had been in, etc. Nothing superfluous. Just the basics. Imo, it made those awards that are worn that much more meaningful.

I had the good fortune to pull some short bit of minor schooling at an Army base, once upon a time. There was this young snuffy, fresh out of Army basic with a stack o’ rack of ribbons and such. I asked him how the hell he’d gotten all that bangle. According to him, other than his multitude of various marksmanship stuffs, he was wearing the awards to which the unit he was assigned were entitled.

Honestly, I felt a bit embarrassed for the kid.

As to a USMC simulacrum of the Army’s CIB…

Not sure I can agree on that. I never got close to anything that would cause me to receive a CAR. Those who have might well feel different. If so, I’d be inclined to defer to them ones, but…

In the USMC, infantry know they are infantry. Not infantry know they are not infantry.

By rights of custom and tradition long standing, infantry have the rightful prerogative to declare their infantryness to any and all for any and all reasons/occasions.

A special thing to put on their uniform to designate themselves as infantry isn’t necessary, since grunts tend to wear their infantryness in the expression of their face and the cast of their eye, as well as the bearing of their body.

PS. I will be sooo glad when this “one team, one fight” thing wears off and we get back to traditional casual contentiousness between the branches. Should be soon, what with the up-comming budget battles as our “betters” castrate our military just prior to a desperate need for a healthy and powerful military, again, as per long standing tradition.

First of all you don’t get a bunch of free awards in the Army. And the marines actually have more ribbons than we do. Every marine I run into calls himself infantry. oh I qualified on an m16 in boot tramp so now i’m a rifleman, what a joke. Also any tab or badge you get in the Army is hard earned. The only reason you don’t have unit insignia and Infantry related items, is so that you don’t offend the POG’s and have uniformity with all of your counterparts. If the marines are so scary why did the first battle of Fallujah come at a loss and even after the fact the marines didn’t dare patrol the city for 8 months? And why did my unit have to Spear head the 2nd Battle of Fallujah? we had our own areas to worry about but we responded to the marines request to help. marines are not navy seals even though they would like to believe such. All you guys ever talk about is boot camp, boo hoo. Infantry OSUT aint Disney land. only a F#cking cherry talks about some dumbass recruit training. In fact you spend more time on a boat than in the field and firing your weapon. In my unit we were always in the field and qualifying all the time. I don’t have a huge stack of medals, the Infantry is purely thank less and because of all the Hollywood commercials y’all have, makes it even more thankless. By the way the CIB is harder to achieve than a CAR. Maybe you should read all the AAR’s of Fallujah, even the Marine AAR has my unit Spear Heading the assault. I don’t mean offence to actual Combat marine Infantry. But anybody that down plays the Army Infantry doesn’t have a clue about being a grunt and is a total loser. And the fact that you are calling out our current military only adds to the proof that you are a douche bag. You are a turd. The Army Infantry is a hell of fighting force, so why… Read more »

So a marine with a Army CIB tat and wearing a UK 40 commando royal marine T-shirt. A poster child for joint and multi-national ops.

What is that word over it?
