Chuck Lyman; stolen valor scam

| March 21, 2014

Chuck Lyman

Dan Noyes, our buddy at KGO-TV in San Francisco sends us a link to his latest report about Chuck Lyman a 53-year-old in the area who spread his lies to scam some well-meaning citizens to invest in a business to provide the government with shipping containers to help bring the troops home. Listening to his victims, he covered all of the services. He claimed to be a SEAL, Special Forces, Army Corps of Engineers, Coast Guard to ensnare investors.

Lyman was able to draw them in, because of his tall tales of military service.

Alden Feldon told Noyes, “He said he had worked in the service and that he was currently employed in the Coast Guard.”

Darlene Stone added, “When I first met him, he brought up Navy SEALs and Special Forces.”

Susan Ferrell said, “I thought it was the Army Corps of Engineers, and he was like an ex-Navy SEAL.”

Lyman’s records that Noyes obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show all of that is not true. He spent six years with the Army National Guard Reserves as a mechanic — “no active duty”.

Yeah, well, they’re all criminals. Like I’ve said, their stolen valor is just a symptom of their sociopath behavior. There’s always something else.

But, thanks to Dan for taking up the torch on the West Coast to out these guys.

Since “tangible benefits” are involved, should not this cocksucker be prosecuted under the new federal SV law?

As for the civilians involved, wise up, you idiots! Some asshole asking for cash up-front on an investment while claiming to be (fill in the blank) should usually turn on the internal red lights, even if you’re dating or friends with the dipstick…

California has its own stolen valor law, but even if convicted that would be a misdemeanor. The meat will the financial fraud itself.

Shipping containers to bring the troops home? I’m trying to get my head around that one and it doesn’t make sense.

Just how were those shipping containers to be used? And I don’t mean to be hard on those well-meaning people, but did it occur to any of them, even vaguely, that the military is quite capable of transporting its own back to CONUS?
