You’ll put your eye out
Those firearms experts at CNN are on the job again. Reporting from the Ukraine, where there is real violence, real snipers, real casualties, they headline their coverage with a photo of a BB gun sniper. The folks at Professional Soldiers noticed it first.
You’d think after a while the media would learn, but hey, it has a scope on it and someone is pointing it menacingly, so it must a sniper. I guess we’re just lucky it’s not a Nerf gun – those are scary looking, too.

Could it be a German RWS Air Rifle cause I have one of these!!!!

Also….

This would be much more funny if we had a montage of every time someone said “You’ll Shoot Your a Eye Out” linked to the story.
How did you guys tell it was a BB gun, anyways? I mean, the barrel is really thin, but other than that I don’t know what I’m looking for.
Pellet gun, most likely .177. Surprised the “media” didn’t call it an AK-47 automatic assault weapon. Asshats
@ Farflung,
You can tell it’s a BB gun by the hinge pin just forward of the “snipers” thumb in the center of the stock. Also the placement of the rear sight is a dead giveaway. Plus if you look at the thickness of the barrel as compared to his thumb or finger you’ll see it’s very thin. It’s a BB gun.
And if “fired” it will make a very “windy” noise and not a BANG! That in itself should be a dead giveaway even for a CNN reporter……
“even for a CNN reporter.” Brick versus CNN reporter. Instruction to both: “Don’t say a damned thing and don’t move!” Brick wins–again.
What a bunch of dip shits.
Meanwhile, the sniper’s spotter, the guy in the background wearing the helmet seems to be taking his job very seriously. CNN does have some entertainment value…on the comedy side but none on the meaningful reporting side. Any six year old who has an “assault” “magnum” scary looking Daisy could tell the difference.
So…a lazy assed photographer couldn’t find an AK47 anywhere, so they took the photo op they had. That’s funny. If they all changed over to pellet guns, you would hear a lot of loud YELPS and OWIES as the folks duck and cover coming from the market. The resulting whelps, stings and possible embedded .177s would be a trauma docs wetdream. But hey, if the guy is good enough, he could, “put an eye out!” 😀
BUT,… Butbutbutbutbut,.. WHAT IF that gun could suddenly be equipped with a 30 clip assault magazine,…. yeah, WHAT THEN?!
It’s something I can easily see some liberal media bedwetting “expert” saying on CNN, MSDNC,…
@5 – this particular gun is probably what they call a spring ation gun- you “break” the gun by pulling the barrel downward (it makes a “V) profile) and closing it again.
Typically they shoot a .177” pellet, which is a tad larger than a BB in diameter. Many guns fire both BBs and pellets interchangeably. These guns are quiet, surprisingly accurate (a competition bullseye is literally only a tiny bit larger than the head of a pin!) but very low powered and have an effective range of 10 meters. There used to be a sport called mini-sniping in which you shot at 9mm cases at 30 meters, which essentially duplicated the target size of a human body at 1000 meters. “Ow” is indeed the normal response to being hit – unless your are sniping for cockroaches.
@11 David and all…
Years ago I bought the RWS Diana model an dit is a .177 and have a velocity of about 1,000 fps+. I have headshot at least three large (15 to 20 lb+) ground hogs over the last three years in my back yard after they dug a basket ball sized hole under my deck and nested there. BOOM HEADSHOT is the response and then much blood. I was shooting the flat and also pointed tip pellets.
They also make this in a .22 caliber as well and I’m sure that they can sting someone’s ass pretty riki tik.
Kill someone…..not very likely but I’m certain a headshot isn’t going to bounce off bare skull.
Believe it or not, when I first got my rifle, I used to put a quarter taped to a phone book in a closet in the basement and shoot it from 40 or 50 feet away and after two or three good hits I could pierce it.
I really wanted to try these…(armor piercing? Really?)

/don’t bring a BB gun to a military style uprising
Maybe they can get that old Iraqi woman to hold up the bullets (complete with shell casing) someone “fired” through her house.
Surprised our resident anti-gun dipshits Joe the rock climbing socialist and vwpussy haven’t chimed in yet, whining about “the chilluns!”
@10 Proud…now you’ve done it. You put the thoughts out there in the universe. Next we’ll be seeing Pelosi or Boxer at a press conference with a .177 rifle, shaking the shit out of it to show everybody how many awful, scary BBs it holds. Then, next on the 2nd Amendment, gun grabbers agenda…scary black BB guns that hold HUNDREDS of deadly, you’ll put your eye out, “ROUNDS”. 😀 You gotta love these liberal f@cktards eh?
You guys crack me up sometimes! Either that or the pain med midday dose is kicking in. 😀
So Ralphie Parker is all grown up and fighting Black Bart in the Ukraine??

@16 ChipNASA yea, his dad will be flying up out of the basement having wrestled with the furnace again…wanting to know…how could this happen to us and our little Ralphie. “Oh wow is me!!”
Then the fuse will blow…”NOBODY MOVE!”
@17 Sparks
” Sons of Bitches! Bumpuses! “
I have Benjamin and a Gamo. They are as powerful as my .22 at 1100 fps.
Now I am a bb sniper from way back. My sisters ass used to be my target of opportunity. I had a Daisy pump that could put a hole thru both sides of a heavy duty galv steel trash can, you know the kind my dad used to swipe from the army.
One pump was enough not to break the skin but leave one hell of a welt.
@18 ChipNASA “Those words are still hanging in the air somewhere over Cleveland”.
@19 Enigma4you…speaking of your sister’s ass 😀 (your phrase, not mine), I almost put my brother’s eye out. He had a BB lodged under the skin for a couple of years, till momma finally had the old doc open and retrieve it. Good times, good times! 😀
Sorry Enigma4you, I just couldn’t leave that curve ball hanging over the plate like that! No harm, no foul I hope. I am sure your sis’ is a lovely woman.
Well, CNN has been known to do stories from Atlanta while claiming they are in a hot spot half way across the world, so it’s not out of bounds to consider that they may have staged it from Atlanta and figured no one would notice that it’s an air rifle instead of a real sniper rifle.
@22 Old Trooper So I guess sometimes…”embedded” means embedded in the safety of the home office. Now that’s high class, in the danger zone, journalism there.
My sisters ass was a very large target at that. She and her friend would go for a walk in the woods, I would get in before them and hide along the trail. Let them pass and fire for effect.
Some days it was a BB gun. others bottle rockets or fire crackers
@13 Sparky, I haven’t seen Joe The Rock-Climbing Asswipe post in a long, long time. Does he just sneak in when I’m not looking, or has he crawled back into his hole?
@24 Enigma4you Way to play Army my man. My favorite “play game” as a kid. I shot a killed more “Germans” than Patton’s whole 3RD Army! 😀
Hell, Sparks, when I was a yard ape in the seventies,my playmates and I wiped out the entire German, Japanese, and Italian Armies in my backyard, and after lunch, we COMPLETELY wiped the VC and NVA off the face of the Earth all by ourselves!!
As for pellet rifles, I bought a Gamo .177 cal for my wife a few years ago to do justice to the squirrels raiding her garden. it’s rated at 1200fps with the right pellets, and I’ve even dispatched an opossum with it. My only regret about that purchase is not spending the extra few bucks and getting it in .22 cal!! Our neighbor did just that, and he can do away with a squirrel in one shot, with the .177, you usually need a follow-up shot!
@27 Proud you and I were “young” American heros, snipers and out right killers from way back when! Back before PC told us oh no, you can’t play Army and kill people! Fuck ’em, we killed ’em all. 😀
.22’s are varmit hunting caliber.
If he is close enough could greatly discourage police encroachment.
Low signature would make it challenging to spot him.
CNN? CaMon, they have quit the news business while retaining their highly skillful propaganda business. Only time will tell ho profitable propaganda is. If liberal talk radio is any indicator, not very.
@26 & 27 When I was that age in the early 90s in rural California, my little sister and I would meet up with the neighbor kids in the the neighbors’ pasture and do the same thing. By God, those little spring-operated BB guns taught us difference between cover and concealment right quick! The first time I came home crying about a welt on my face, Mom told me that next time I better duck behind a rock instead of a scrub oak bush, and that I was less likely to face return fire if I made my first shot count. So many fond memories, so many lessons learned…
@28, Sparks, Yeah, played “Cops and Robbers” as well as “Cowboys and Indians” during recess, too. Remember pointing your finger and yelling *BANG!*? Kids get suspended or thrown out these days for that!
On another thought, maybe that IS a protestor with a pellet rifle, and he’s trying to shoot a squirrel for dinner?
@32 Proud “Yeah, played “Cops and Robbers” as well as “Cowboys and Indians” during recess, too. Remember pointing your finger and yelling *BANG!*? Kids get suspended or thrown out these days for that!”
I am with you there Proud. Killed a lot gangs of robbers and whole tribes of Indians. At school recess no less. You’re right…nowadays they would have the kids, their parents, a psychologist and the faculty in a meeting to discuss little Johnny’s, “disturbingly violent and discriminatory” behavior. Then two weeks expulsion and a local news article about the “finger goes BANG!” business. What the heck is the world coming to I ask?
It’s political correctness, a social and spiritual SUICIDE for any culture or civilization!
@35 Proud It’s true…it’s true. Well said.
