Saturday morning feel good stories
Chief Tango sends us links this morning to perk up your cold Saturday morning. the first is from California, where John Jasmer, let into his house Melanie Piette who claimed she needed to inspect his gas lines;
Piette allowed another man inside, identified as Michael Felsch, 38, deputies said.
The two attempted to rob Jasmer, deputies said, Felsch threatening Jasmer with an unidentified weapon and threatening to harm him if he didn’t hand over money.
Jasmer had a gun close to where he was sitting, and he fired at Felsch, striking him in the torso several times, deputies said. Felsch and Piette ran away, deputies said.
The police arrived at the wrong address at first, and had to jerk around and decypher the cryptic directions they had to the house from the dispatcher. Luckily, the homeowner was able to take matters into his own hands.
Felsch is in custody at the local hospital, but Piette is still on the loose. Mr. Jasmer has sufficient range time, but he needs a larger caliber hand gun. It’s harder to run with a couple of 230 grain bullets in your torso.
The next story also comes from the West Coast, this one from Washington State;
A female resident called 911 at 2:30 a.m. Friday, reporting an intruder inside her home at 8011 Savary Drive, Pasco police said.
The male homeowner fired multiple rounds at the alleged intruder inside the home, police said. When police arrived, they learned that the alleged intruder was dead.
Pasco police are investigating. No arrests have occurred in this death investigation, police said.

“It’s harder to run with a couple of 230 grain bullets in your torso.”
Yep, as I tell folks around me “if you get hit in the torso by a .45 round, you’re having a very bad day”.
If you have to use a .38/.39, whatever it takes (h/t Mr. Mom); please get a defensive round in +P, that will at least give you a fighting chance. I have seen too many stories where a .38 was used and the bad guy either ran away, after being hit several times, or they made it to the hospital before being caught by the cops. The mom down in Georgia, that hit the bad guy 5 out of 6 shots and he was still able to get in his car and drive a block down the road before crashing into a tree. What if they would have hit an innocent on the road? We have to think about others out there, so make sure you use a big enough caliber so the bad guy doesn’t go too far. Think of it as a public service.
.45ACP, because its just silly to fire more than once.
I guess the alleged perp is now allegedly died?
Uh, dead, not died.
NEED. ANOTHER. COFFEE.
That video,…gripping stuff. Explains the article in a whole new light. Truly Pulitzer type work there.
Speaking of feel good stories-team USA beat the Roosians 3-2 in a shoot out in Olympic hockey.
HEY I live in the Tri-Cities, one of which is Pasco! I gotta start taking the paper again.
News article from the Tri City Herald on Pasco shooting.

Hmm I was thinking that area in the video looked familiar. Yep its right off road 68 in Pasco behind the Walmart a few blocks.
I’m in the Tri-Cities too.
Pasco is usually where the shootings happen over here.
@2……..yep, nothing better than a 45 for close in work. Mine is vintage 1944. Brought it back from the Nam. During that period they got a bad rep. Most we’re holdovers from WWII. Turned out the barrels were wornout. New barrel solved the problem.
@8 Nigel Hey my man, I am in Kennewick! What a small, small world. Never lived in Pasco. I came here in ’79 on a transfer in the old GTE Telephone Company, from Durham, North Carolina. I retired from Verizon.
Hit Jonn up for my email address if you want and do that sorta thing.
Man am I surprised.
@10 Nigel, Post back when you see my comment okay!
@9 3/17 air cav First, thank you. Air Cav rocks! Kudos.
As to the .45, man…I wish I had an original from that era. I use a Glock Model 30. The short combat barrel for easier concealed carry. You are right too. As long as a guy does his range time, two center mass is HARD to walk away from. (My motto, if they ARE STILL standing after two center mass then they ain’t movin’ much! If need be then it’s one to the melon. You have to be sure ya know.) When it comes to home, hearth and family, I am no badass killer type by any means, but it will not be my family or me. WE will be FIRST! My grandfather said (who shot and killed an intruder when he was in his 80’s with his 12 gauge side by side) “there’s a only a gonna be one story told…mine”.
Air Cav, who was the maker of the slabside? Some of the makers of 45s are very collectable and command high prices.I have one that might be a collectable someday. A SigMauser M2 in 45 caliber.
@13…….it’s a Colt. Belonged to a helo pilot that did not make it back.
Gun Broker and Guns America have some WWII-era .45s for sale, if you’re interested. I’ve been thinking about picking up a Remington-Rand version (they were only made from 1942-1945) because of the connection to my hometown and the fact that I used one when I shot on a pistol team for a while.
I’m confused.
I thought homeowners in California weren’t allowed to shoot intruders.
Did I miss something?
@16 PH2 – Well, this Calif homeowner is armed (S&W 40 cal), and dangerous, and ready to fire.
@16 Ex I am not sure of CA laws on gun ownership besides the 2nd Amendment. Well except for the San Francisco type areas where they all crap their pants if they see one of those scary, black thingies that make loud noises. Then…you have the OldSargeUSARs who will own, carry and defend themselves and theirs no matter what. I say good for them too!
@10 and 11. Yeah it is a small world. I am in Richland. Been here all 24 almost 25 years of my life. I’m a civilian, thought about enlisting back in 2007 but didn’t because I saw they weren’t gonna let us win.
At the moment I’m jobless. I’m good with technical stuff such as cars ( I went to the local college in CBC for the automotive program for 2 years and got my associates in automotive technology) and I am self taught with computers and can build one from parts if anyone wants. And recently found out I can do some house electrical, replacing a basic outlet or switch.
I have lurked here for a few years, I think about 3?
My family that did serve was my maternal grandpa in the 101st Airborne 506th regiment, MP. He was in Japan then ended up in over in Korea. I think grandpa served from 1947 to 1951, never had a chance to talk about it with him and he didn’t want to talk about it.
On the topic of nice .45s, I wish I could find one made by Singer and had a job to pay for it.
@19 Nigel Glad you got your degree. Automotive Tech is an always needed trade. Plus being computer savvy helps a lot too. All the best Nigel in the job hunt. 😀
