Colorado Democrats stand firm on magazine ban
According to the Washington Times, Colorado Republicans gave their majority party Democrat colleagues the opportunity to save their jobs in the next election by introducing a bill to walk back the bill that banned normal capacity magazines in the State. Democrats didn’t care that they had cost the State about 800 private sector jobs by forcing magazine manufacturer Magpul to leave the state.
“I understand the folks that voted for [the magazine limit] may not like Magpul or what it stands for or its products; however, I do ask that you consider the folks that are losing their jobs as a result of last year’s bill,” said Republican state Rep. Lori Saine.
Republicans knew going into the hearing that they didn’t have the votes, and ultimately they failed to persuade any of the panel’s Democrats to break ranks.
“I know this is not going to end all the gun violence, but we have to start somewhere,” said Democratic state Rep. Jeanne Labuda. “If we’re the ninth state or the tenth state to do this, it might take a while, but maybe in another 10 years, all 50 states will have some kind of magazine limit, and that’s when the true results will be seen.”
“Maybe”. 800 people didn’t “maybe” lose their jobs, but Democrats, as usual, are banking on a “maybe” to save their own jobs. Just like their “maybe” excuse for allowing fuel prices to rise so “maybe” we’ll find an alternate energy source. Just like their Obamacare “maybes” and their global warming maybes and all of the other maybes that they use as their political platforms.
Meanwhile, with no maybes, thousands of Coloradans were made criminals overnight with the passage of new draconian gun laws. Maybe they shouldn’t have those jobs. Maybe voters should tell them so at the polls. Maybe the world would be a better place with no Democrats at all.
Category: Liberals suck
Well “maybe” I’ll vote for a Democrat next time…NOT and fucking hell no! So stick those maybes up their asses.
As dear Leader would say democrats liberated those people from jobs.
Well the democrats are right, because you know maybe criminals will actually follow the law and not use the evil large capacity magazines…because we all know criminals will not break the law. heck, this magazine law could very well cause criminals to just stop in their tracks and become law abiding citizens. We should all join hands and sing kumbayah.
What about the dozens of existing Gun Control laws that were violated in each and every one of these past mass shootings? What about the involuntary commitment of people giving off warning signs, something every one of these shooters gave off? To me,it’s just further proof that WE CANNOT TRUST OUR GOVERNMENT to effectively enforce the laws that are already in effect!!
Correction, Jon: Nobody was “made a criminal” by the laws. People who possessed hi-capacity magazines as of the date the law went into effect are allowed to keep them. However, they cannot legally transfer them – at least within CO.
The law also specifically states that in any prosecution for violation of the law, the burden is on the prosecution to prove that the defendant did not own the magazine prior to 1 July 2013, it is not on the defendant to show that he did.
All in all it’s a toothless law that was enacted solely for purposes of “feeling good.” We, the voters of CO, let our guard down for one election cycle and let the Dems take both houses of the legislature (as well as the governorship) and this is what we got. Hopefully the voters will wake up and put the R’s back in the state house, though there will be no repeal of the law until we also elect a R governor, and unfortunately the R party is in turmoil here (as it is, pretty much, nationwide.)
You’re all looking at this wrong. Passing laws is the solution to our problems!
But this law is too weak–it deals only with magazines. Murderers can try “one shot, one kill,” or use knives, axes, bricks, automobiles, or even their bare hands–they will find a way around this clever legislative remedy. Here’s how we can end murder once and for all:
MAKE MURDER ILLEGAL! That way, it will not matter which instrument criminals were going to use. They will ALL suddenly be illegal to use in a murder! Passing laws is the solution, and this bold, sweeping law will bring us safety.
UP NEXT: My plan to make transportation cheaper by passing a law repealing the law of gravity!
Cordially,
Pat
I don’t know about all fifty states, but in your case we’ll see the results all right.
Good luck with your pot revenue plan. Have fun with your end-stage terminal Calinoma.
Do you guys have any idea how annoyed the dummycraps were in Illinois when they were told that they HAD to have a concealed carry law?
And much like LA/SF controls CA, NYC controls NY, Chicago controls IL, Denver/Boulder controls CO.
Good luck getting that changed anytime soon.
@#8- so annoyed they introduced a gun registration bill.

there’s times i wish we could just kick those fools out of the state.
The fact that Republicans in that state gave their Democrat colleagues the opportunity to save their jobs in the next election was a dumb-fuggin’ ass idea, especially when it comes to pro-gun advocacy issues.
The damage to that state has already been done. No new law is going to fix it.
Those Democrats will wish they had those high cap mags when the hangings start.
Yep, the stoopid is strong with this bunch. Did they not hear the thunderous rejection of their bull during the 3 historic recalls? Do they not see it in the plummeting polls for Udall and Hickenlooper?
This week we found out that Lang Sias is running against Evie Hudak’s mini-me replacement. He’s a Navy and Air Guard pilot who only lost the first time by a few hundred votes. That isn’t going to happen again.
BTW, the Dems are also smarting from the sweep of education reform candidates who were elected to school boards across the state in a landslide last fall. The union goons just had a conniption during a board meeting for our district where the board accepted the early resignation of the superintendent, saying that she was forced out. The truth is that she’s a union hack, responsible for bringing in Common Core and InBloom, both of which were soundly rejected. Her supporters, mostly teachers, proceeded to have one hell of a public temper tantrum. Yeah, that’s who I want teaching my kids (Thank God mine are all adults now and my future grandchildren will be homeschooled).
Here they are in all their spoiled, nasty glory:

Change is coming. The Dems can hide their heads in their lousy laws, but they will be yanked out come November. If not, you can never underestimate the hoards that have come here from the left coasts, we’ll be following Magpul into Wyoming.
Has anyone seen the article on the “New York-legal AR15? NO JOKE, it looks like a paintball gun, is still a fully functional AR15 sans flash suppressor, and is easily modified back via a new shoulder stock and pistol grip, liberals are such a bunch of loons!!
