Corporal Paul Cusack saving the world
2/75th Ranger’s Corporal Paul Cusack is to be awarded the Soldier’s Medal for his actions at the Boston Marathon bombing last April according to MyNorthwest;
Corporal Paul Cusack, with the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment had just finished the 26.2 mile race. Instead of finding safety, he ran toward the trouble.
“He was right there at the scene, immediately after the blast,” said Joseph Piek, JBLM spokesman. “He, himself, ran into the blast area, not knowing whether there were going to be secondary blasts.”
Cpl. Cusack found several people lying in the street and on the sidewalk at the second explosion site.
“And he immediately started helping some of the victims, he assessed and triaged their injuries and evacuated people from the immediate scene as quickly as he possibly could,” said Piek.
Corporal Cusack will be awarded his Soldier’s Medal this evening.
Cusack wasn’t the only soldier there that day to run towards the sounds of danger.

Well done, Corporal Cusack. The recognition is well deserved.
Well done to the Corporal.
I assume he is not Infantry (I know all Rangers are not Infantry but just curious).
They don’t give his age either but he looks ‘older’ than a
‘typical’ Army Ranger Corporal.
@2- Running makes you age faster, that’s why I walk.
Hate to be picky on a thread like this, but everyone is calling him “Corporal” when he’s wearing Specialist (SPC) rank. With that aside, he did what real men and Warriors do when the shit hits the fan, they’re the ones who keep their heads on and do what’s right. KUDOS!
@4 he probably got a lateral promotion and put into some type of leadership role, like a team leader or something. He’s still an E-4, but an NCO instead of a specialist. I’m guessing the picture got taken before the promotion.
and that is how your properly execute the menuver called RANGERING THE FUCK UP!!!
So that’s why I look young for my age TheCloser.
I was watching a Discovery channel documentary on RASP (Ranger Assessment program to weed out those wanting to go to Ranger Battalions) not too long ago. The honor grad was actually a 34 year old guy.
I have much props to these older guys succeeding in one of the toughest, if not the toughest, infantry organizations in the world.
Way to go CPL.
BTW anyone know how many soldier’s medals were awarded to MA ARNG who were on duty at the event.
I just remember the video of the two tearing down the barricades to get at the casualties.
