Phony Marine cuffs Ft Jackson soldier for no reason

| October 17, 2013

Paul_Derrick

You may have seen this video somewhere on the internet of a supposed former Marine, sheriff’s deputy who was arresting a female Fort Jackson soldier at a Buffalo Wild Wings outside the Army post. The deputy’s name is Paul Derrick and according to a link sent to us by Joshua and he drives prisoners from place to place, so he’s not a real cop. But for some unknown reason, after talking with the soldier, Derrick went to his car and came back in the restaurant with his badge, gun and handcuffs and cuffed the woman for no reason;

Well, the sheriff, Leon Lott, apologized;

“I wish I could strangle him,” Richland County Leon Lott said of his ex-deputy, 14-year-employee Paul Derrick.

Unfortunately, said Lott, that would be improper, so “I will do everything I can to make sure he never works in law enforcement again.”

Lott fired Derrick, 49, on Tuesday.

It also seems that Derrick’s claim that he’s a former Marine was false, too;

Although Derrick told the woman during the incident he was a Marine, Lott said there was nothing in Derrick’s record to indicate he had ever been a Marine.

Derrick is a retired Columbia firefighter who works for the sheriff’s office as “a paddy wagon driver” transporting prisoners, Lott said. Although Derrick had some disciplinary problems in his past, none approached the severity of this incident, Lott said.

That’s a real smooth line he’s got there for picking up women in bars. But, I wouldn’t recommend it.

This dude is a real piece of shit…

B Woodman

sounds like grounds for civil and/or criminal trial for false arrest, kidnapping, assault and probably a half-a-dozen other charges.
So, Mr Smooth Pick-Up Line, why don’t you make it easier on yourself and give the young lady all that you ever had, all that you now have, and all that you will have. It shouldn’t amount to much, just a few dollars and some change.

NHSparky

Here’s hoping his future career options include fryolators and ditch digging.

Old Tanker

Unbelievable…

ByrdMan

He should have told her he was a douche. That would have at least been the truth.

Ex-PH2

There are people in various places claiming to be cops and forcing people into their cars as an excuse to rob and assault them.

You do have the right to ask for ID and if the ‘cop’ won’t show it to you, you call 911.

It almost looked like Lott was about to rip that woman’s arms out of their sockets. Something is definitely wrong with him. And what was his reason for doing what he did? She turned him down, or something?

LebbenB

PH-2, Leon Lott is the sheriff of Richland County, SC not the douchenozzle in the video. That fucknugget’s name is Paul Derrick.

I’m surprised that Lott acted so fast. He was sheriff when I was stationed at FJSC back in the mid-90s and I always thought he was a “head buried in the sand” type when it came to dealing with the (then) growing gang problem in Columbia/Richland County. I suppose it’s a different story when something REALLY important happens – Like something that could damage his chances of re-election.

Jonathan Nathan

He didn’t react quickly. He actually defended Derrick for a full week before he realized that the video was forcing his hand.

Ex-PH2

@7 – I saw my incorrect name use after I hit the submit button. My bad. Not enough caffeine. Apologies to Sheriff Lott.

OWB

Maybe he will also get to register as a sex offender? (If this was the result of her refusing a sexual encounter with him, why not?)

crucible

I saw this yesterday and am still pissed off about it. It’s a good thing I don’t go out to bars because had I been there and saw him abuse that woman and throw in the “Marine” thing on top of it (I’m a former Marine), I’d probably would have been arrested myself for beating him into tomorrow.

I salute the local law enforcement types for seeing the video and acting accordingly as well as this guys reporting structure for taking the first step.

Beretverde

With a sheriff blasting one of his own so quickly, speaks volumes. This is bad. I wonder what would have happened WITHOUT the cell phone video?

Tom Huxton

Good thing the soldier was not a Woman Marine. She would have braided his nuts around his own neck.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Doesn’t he know that you don’t bring out the handcuffs until after the 4th date? Otherwise you scare them away….

How is this guy not facing serious felony charges at this time?

streetsweeper

He will loose his POST certification (has to be state certified peace officer even for prisoner escort). Once the State of SC POST board hands him a dishonorable discharge and he will be forever barred from law enforcement. It will be immediate suspension of POST I suspect, he’ll have one hell of a time fighting it in court if he even tries.

There is a complete 10 minute version of the video available, too. I wasted a FOIA but, oh well. Thank you Sheriff Lott for your quick action in this matter! Now I don’t have to wait ten weeks for a FOIA. *whew*

streetsweeper

He will be, VOV. Between the city, county, state and maybe US Army, he may have scored a felony beef for assault and attempted kidnapping of a federal employee.

A Proud Infidel

If he was a Prisoner Transporter, then his fellow inmates will immediately know him the moment he gets there. SQUEEAL real good for Bubba & Thor, Derrick!

OWB

Does anyone happen to know if he has made bail?

USMCE8Ret

Illegal arrest, unlawful detention/false imprisonment, assault, impersonating a police officer… just for starters.

Ex-PH2

I found the 10 minute video and watched it. It was like watching a 320 off-duty Chicago cop beat the crap out of a bartender one-third his size because she wouldn’t sell him any more booze.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKJebBcZGKQ

If this doesn’t just piss you off, you’re not human.

Mark

He needs to be charged and given his day in court. And to have all of his “Lapses” entered into the official record.

Then I hope he would be found guilty and do time in “General” Population

That Guy

The fact that he stood there for so long doing that makes me question the crowd there.
When did being a sheriff’s deputy grant someone permission to openly abuse power like that? Carrying a firearm while drinking? I’d be locked away for that. Arresting someone without any legal justification? And inflicting physical harm on a woman who, to hear it told, was just disinterested in him (and with good reason, apparently)?

brian

kind of makes me wonder if there’s any un-filmed arestees floating around the area…

A Proud Infidel

Every time I see that video, it makes me wish I could have been there to give that sniveling, pathetic, wannabe excuse of a man a lesson in PAIN that he would never forget!! I just wish for some of the personnel in whatever jail he’s in to show some of the meanest inmates there this video, and leave them alone with him afterward!! Hopefully there are Vets among that Jail’s staff that will do that!

Abusers really make my blood boil!

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

BTW …. If I was the guy in the crowd, the corrections officer would have been arrested by me and 3 or 4 volunteers.

As a citizen and former FED LEO I would have clearly articulated no probable cause, false arrest, unlawful imprisonment and most shockingly the abusive language and handcuff touture (illegal to manipulate cuffs or cuffed subject) that occured.

This guy is a POS!

The soldier has a “color of law”, civil rights lawsuit packaged and ready to proceed.

The Sherrif should settle out of court for say 5 to 20 million dollars.

OWB

Have tried calling the Columbia PD several times today to determine his status. No luck so far.

Ex-PH2

This is the raw surveillance video of the off-duty Chicago cop beating a female bartender about 1/3 his size.

http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=video+of+chicago+cop+beating+bartender&FORM=VIRE4#view=detail&mid=8CC75493856455554C438CC75493856455554C43

The Chicago cop was suspended and fired, and then charged with assault. The bartender sued him and won a judgment against him, although he beat her so badly she couldn’t remember it.

There are cops who do this everywhere, and now there are also people posing as cops, shaking people down, threatening them, and robbing them at gunpoint.

Ex-PH2

I want to know what happens with this. The way he was physically handling the woman, he could have dislocated both of her arms. She was obviously in extreme pain, and I think the people with her were concerned that if they actually stepped in, he’d do worse things to her.

However, I’d like to know why it took the real cops longer than the video ran to respond to a distress call.

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

He was a corrections officer: he did not have the authority and real police officer skills to handle the situation that he caused and escalated.

The moves he put on her are excluded from all LE training because they can cause positional asphyxiation (suffocation by body position) and permanant nerve damage in the arms and hands.

This guy was operating way out of the box on everything.

That is why HE was arrested on scene!

OWB

Well, PH, for starters, they cannot respond until someone calls them. And depending upon what they were told, it might or might not have sounded like a life threatening situation.

In any case, this disgusting waste of oxygen has obviously used this tactic previously. There is no telling how many victims there are out there, and how many assaults he has committed.

Only a very thorough investigation is acceptable here. Multiple felony charges, at all levels, are in order. No deals.

Send him to Gitmo – he knew he was assaulting a soldier, or so he claims. Looked like terrorism to me.

streetsweeper

I wouldn’t belittle the city cops response time, that car(s) may been tied up on something else and got loose ASAP. People are correct being concerned with whether or not this man has done this in the past. If any number of potential victims can and do come forward, it could be far worse than just this soldier making him a serial rapist/stalker. 😉

JMPMASTR

Actually he is a certified LEO, Deputies have arrest powers, which makes it worse for him in two ways. One criminally miss using your arrest powers leads to losing your LEO certification permanently, Two it opens you up to USC 1983 which has both a criminal and civil component so he can be sued civilly and prosecuted Federally not a good combination.

Ex-PH2

ACtually, #31, Derrick was not a deputy. He was a paddy wagon driver, someone who transports prisoners from one place to another. And anyway, now he’s an ex-employee and he can be sued.

There are local sheriffs in Kendall County, Illinois who are now under investigation for improperly strip searching women. Six to date. By improper, it was done by men, not by female officers.

CI Roller Dude

when I used to train new coppers, I’d suggest that they not drink and have: a gun, badge or handcuffs with them. If they’re stupid drunks, then to a buddy to keep them from doing stupid shit.
I’d guess this deputy could have used this advice. When off duty, call 911 and be a good witness.

ArmyVet

I wonder if this guy was drunk. Looks like she may get some money. $$

A Proud Infidel

My one happy thought about this: In the jails he’ll end up going to, his life will be hell. One, his/its fellow inmates will know what he did in no time, and life will suck for him. Two, this video has made its rounds about the internet, so if he gets out on bail, there’s a big chance of him having a rendezvous with someone like me who would enjoy giving him a painful wall-to-wall counseling!!

Karma’s a bitch when she bites back!!

NHSparky

CI–I’m just wondering why a guy who only serves as a paddy wagon driver is even entitled to carry a gun and cuffs off duty.

Even the badge might be pushing it.

Ex-PH2

Looks like this slime-on-legs has company. How about a US air marshall getting busted for doing something disgusting on a plane? Well, you guys read this.

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/10/17/21015649-federal-air-marshal-arrested-accused-of-taking-pictures-up-womens-skirts?lite&gt1=43001

I think that the screening process for law enforcement people and their little helpers like Derrick needs to be a bit more careful.

Just An Old Dog

What should happen to pieces of shit like this.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jagvYIMJyzU
