Million Vets March
The March on DC today, to take back our memorials kicked off on a drizzly morning when some veterans took down the barricades around the World War II memorial as well as some of the others. Our buddy, The Sniper, was there;
From Fox News;
“Veterans have proven they are not timid and we will not be timid and calling out any that use military as pawns,” [former Governor Sarah] Palin told the crowd assembled at the Million Vet March on Memorials. “We can only be America, home of the free, if we are America, home of the brave.”
Protesters shouting “U.S.A.” and “Tear down these walls” are putting the blame squarely on President Obama and Democratic congressional leaders.
From Twitchy, some folks carried the barricades to pile up in front of the White House;
From DC local News;
Bruce Wing and his wife traveled from Atlanta to support the veterans.
“The shutting down of these memorials, if one looks at right and wrong, that’s clearly wrong,” he says.

@49: She has a son that serves, so I think you may have to revise your statement; unless you think that military moms have no right to speak?
@51. “But could we please get someone better than Sarah Palin to be “representing” us and speaking.” First, who did you have in mind? John “Jungle Stroll w/ Camerman” Kerry is too busy. Second, Sarah Palin is not representing us. What she does–and does very well–is articulate strong support for Veterans and active military. The fact that SOME people, notably the left, do not like her, is tough shit.
Somebody needs to find the name of that Segway’ed double amputee; his money should never work again in any bar in the country.
Between him, and the female senior with the “closed” sign, the optics of this sucker went from ‘bad” to ‘absolutely disgusting’ for Sotero.
@51
She has a son, who did serve for 2 years as an 11B at Wainwright and although he did deploy to Iraq, I have heard the kid was a total shitbag. Ok so he is a vet, not his mom. She doesnt rate.
@52. How about Allen West. I’d follow him through hell with 2 cans of gasoline. I dont think she articulates well her “love” for veterans well. I believe she uses us as a political podium for her to get recognition for herself and her own message. I am by no means a leftist, I just see the forest through the trees when it comes to the likes of Palin, another self-serving member of the politician class getting themselves attention.
@ #54: You will never get a line up of speakers that everyone wants to hear. Some of us have even been to quite a few of these things, and have not stood still to hear any of the speakers yet. There are always ways to avoid them, and the crowds who do wish to hear them.
Good suggestion of Allen West, though. I would at least try to hear him speak. 😉
OK. Son shit bag or not. Sarah Palin as a former Gov and Commander in Chief of all state controlled Armed Forces IS much more qualified than most and most certainly invited to weigh in. Further, for those less informed, as the Gov and CinC in Alaska, she had SITAWARE on mil issues real world and training that other GOV’s could only wish for.
So KMRAA!
BTW. Nice job in DC.
I hope the scuffle did not include and Vets. If I faced off with LE in a similar sit, I would have told them to go to hell in a manner that would have had them looking forward to the journey.
We must take the high road. That is what is expected of us. The concept of loyal decent does not permit or allow Jackassery!
One other thing: Sarah is friggin’ smokin’ hot … All round kick ass American Woman!
@56: Every time I hear the phrase “we must take the high road”, we might as well start waving the white flag. They expect us to take the high road, so that they can beat us up for it. I hear that same thing come out of every establishment republican’s mouth and then they continue to get thrashed by the opposition while they are chanting it. Same with the phrase “we’re better than that”.
I’m not advocating starting the frackas, but backing down to thugs isn’t part of the equation, either. We show restraint as long as they do.
OT. I agree with you. When I say high road, I am speaking of the behavior on scene. Nothing good happens when a Vet is scuffling, stairing down a LEO or purposely yelling in his ear … Just as an example. So you do agree, she is hot?
@54.
“I believe she uses us as a political podium for her to get recognition for herself and her own message.” If she says something in support of Vets, she is self-serving. And if she says nothing, I suppose that would be evidence she doesn’t care. What would you have her do? Let me guess, just go away, right? She is a citizen. She is a prominent citizen. She, if you know anything about her at all, is a decent human being who speaks for many of the unrepresented class (i.e., the middle class). What is “her own message”? I understand it to be America first, traditional values, and love of country. What, precisely is your beef against her?
@59: I agree that we should not start the pushing and shoving, or getting in the face of LE, but we should hold the line, so to speak. Military bearing and all that.
Yes, Sarahliscious is definitely hawt (I have met her, before, and I can tell you that she is as hawt in person as she is in pictures).
I have long held the belief that if the Left (including, necessarily Big Media) hates somebody or something, then that someone or something is worth my time learning about. And Sarah Palin is despised by the Left. Why? Here’s a good piece from 2011 that poses that quesry and attempts to answer it.

Quesry? I guess that’s the son of question and query. More Joe.
OT. You and I agree. Hold the line respectfully.
The focus of the media:

Rules for today’s rally include US flags only.
You know, they can shove their Old Glory-only rule right up their own keesters. Last time I looked, the 1st Amendment was still intact, and if anyone thinks that Big Media will suddenly portray Vets’ rallies fairly because the Stars and Bars or Don’t Tread on Me flags are absent, he is greatly mistaken. Individuals are free to tell anyone with an unhelpful sign or flag to go screw himself and groups can boo and catcall the bearer into shame BUT to start dictating BY RULE who can carry what, well, I can’t buy that.
I think that’s fair AirCav.
When someone organizes a rally, they make the rules. It’s our choice whether to participate in the rally or not. These are ad hoc affairs without permits, so not a lot of resources are going into them. If it’s a permitted event, I have no issues with security enforcing published rules.
Freedom cuts both ways.
This reminded me of the Bonus Army marches on D.C. during the 1930’s.
