Marines’ recruiting website hacked
The Associated Press reports that the Marine Corp’s recruiting website was hacked ostensibly by a group calling themselves the Syrian Electronic Army. Using those photos of phony soldiers holding up cute little signs as propaganda, the hackers tried to attract the troops to join the Assad government in fighting rebels;
Capt. Eric Flanagan wouldn’t say who was responsible for the hacking, but the site was redirected to a message from the Syrian Electronic Army, a hacker group that’s claimed responsibility for disrupting the New York Times website, Twitter and other media sites the group sees as sympathetic to Syria’s rebels.
The message to the Marine Corps was a plea for Americans to fight alongside the Syrian army and not aid the rebels.
So, yeah, you guys who are making those photos are really helping out the situation. Another soldier made a sign telling the others to quit making signs and get back to work, wearing his name tag and showing his face, and the commenters went nuts;
Michael Cavallaro
Moron !!!!! These r one of those brainwashed motherfuckers that would fire on his own ppl…

F*ck you D*ckhead. I served 12 years PROUDLY. If I was serving now and this ass in the Whitehouse was on the verge of starting WWIII for the shit going on in SYRIA, I’d be one of those disgusted by his actions and would REFUSE because it is an UNLAWFUL act.

i hate to say it, but this kid doesn’t understand that his oath was to our constitutional republic, and not just to serve any tyrant who happens to have the big stick at the moment.
Those commenters have probably never served either and the way they cling to their false interpretations of the Constitution, I have to think that they voted for Ron Paul in the last two election primaries. If I had to place a bet, I’d wager they’re some of those Kokesh-huggers in the Oathkeepers.
To lighten the mood a bit, someone sent us this photo of himself to add to the meme;

Uh, yeah, no. And if you tried, I hear the Kansas Gravel Factory is a nice place to visit this time of year. In fact, you might make it someplace to stay for a few years.
Funny how these dipshits were nowhere in sight when we were lobbing Tomahawks at Libya last year….
While I appreciate the guy who showed his face and tried to call out the others, he is still mixing politics and his uniform.
“I did not join Starfleet to fight a war against the Dominion…”
@2–true, and he’ll likely get a good ass-chewing for it, but that’s about it.
“I did not join the KISS ARMY to fight a war against disco!”
@4: No? Then what was the point of you joining? The women?
This internet thing is really getting worse
I did not join the Riders of Rohan to fight for Gondor.
Once upon a time we understood being in the Military meant temporarily giving up so of those freedoms that we were protecting…
@2, actually his comments are non political and are to that point. I do not see him taking a side politically, he is doing what all good NCOs should be doing and telling their troops to cut the shit, scrub the sand out of their nether regions and get back to doing what they are paid to do. Obey all Lawful Orders. There is nothing unlawful about the President deciding it is in the Nations Interest to attack Syrias WMD Stockpiles if he chooses to do so and does with congressional approval.
I do not agree with that action, but…. these idiots trying to turn this into some Oathkeeper Ron Paul idiocy, are either a bunch of posers or have absolutely no fucking idea how the Military works in conjunction with its civillian leadership, and just as important what constitutes a lawful order.
“Those commenters have probably never served either and the way they cling to their false interpretations of the Constitution…”
Obummer gets called a “constitutional scholar” and people use that low bar to decide they’re one, too.
I don’t think the signs are a great idea. That being said, I do understand the sentiment. I understand why another administration cutting bennies for Veterans and kicking out combat weary and experienced soldier ESPECIALLY an administration that ran on the “peace/pull them home” platform is getting this reception.
And furthermore, if Syria isn’t worth calling an emergency session of Congress, then it isn’t as dire as the President seems to think it is.
I didn’t join the People’s Front of Judea…or was that the Judean People’s front?? Or the Judean Popular People’s Front?
Oh well, I hate the Romans as much as anybody.
Yeah Jonn, you really need to check out that guy who made the “get back to work” sign. Total fucking phony. You’ll have a field day.http://milblogging.com/index.php
Sorry, didn’t see the link you posted. Check the guy’s ribbon rack, very out of order. His unit awards are totally backwards as well.
I think I found him in the Alabama National Guard – veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Maybe he is, but that uniform is so dicked up I have a hard time taking him seriously.
@11. BUT—“Congress needs to act on this quickly–yesterday, in fact! It can’t wait. We have evidence. Trust us. We can’t allow this Hitler-like character to use gas as Hitler did even though it’s not like Hitler did. Did we say that Assad is like Hitler?”
Who is that traitor in the bottom pic?!?!?!?!? I will insure that he NEVER finds Valhalla!!
🙂
I did not join Vizzini’s gang to bet against a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line!
I know the troops can’t refuse, but it would be nice if Congress refused…if we are going to have the same level of planning and coordination that we’ve seen over the last 12 years from the civilians who are theoretically charged with the oversight of our occupation and withdrawal plans I would prefer we don’t get started.
With the positive outcomes that we are generating in Iraq and Afghanistan I am not certain we can take too many more such positive outcomes.
@16 Lilyea only goes after veterans that he doesn’t agree with politically and racial minoroties.
Mil site hacked. Focus on facebook bozos instead of foreigners that hacked it.
Sound response, gents.
I’m more embarrassed at our military’s inability to prevent such a thing.
@21- got any proof to back that slander up?
@21: Insipid, is that you?
@21 yawn. You are such a clown. Jonn has said many times that he agrees with these bozos stance that the US should not strike Syria. But he does not agree with them using their uniforms as a political statement. Additionally, I do not see any one other than white SMs in those pictures. Your asinine comment is an utter failure in every sense of the word. Care to try again doofus?
I happen to agree with the dissenters. My oath said nothing about intervening in a civil war where our nation was not at risk of being attacked or directly threatened. I joined to serve our nation and protect it not become a public relations ploy for this Muslim in chief to use to help his Muslim brotherhood homeboys take over another country and make a hypocritical public relations ploy to help the 2014 elections. Our men and women in uniform deserve better than to be used like this for no reason. We are not the world police. Let the UN stand up for a change.
I would not put my face on the web behind a sign, however. If I felt that strongly about it while serving I would wait until we got the call then tell my superior privately I was a conscientious objector and part with the military taking whatever discharge they saw fit and go about my way. Doing it publicly and not having the balls to show your face is cowardice.
@21 – Bill Blake aka Zippy the Pinhead, is that you?
