Defense motion recesses Hasan trial

| August 7, 2013

I guess the lawyers assigned to advise Hasan while he represents himself in court don’t like the idea that Hasan is driving his train to the needle. From WFAA8 in Dallas;

The standby defense attorneys for Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan during his court martial asked the judge Wednesday to let them take over or reduce their role, arguing they are only assisting his attempt to be sentenced to death for the 2009 massacre on post.

“It became clear during his opening statements; his goal is to remove impediments to the death penalty and he is working towards a death penalty,” said Col. Kris Poppe during the second day of testimony in the case.

“You honor, I object,” Hasan replied. “That’s a twist to the facts.”

Judge Col. Tara Osborn cleared the courtroom to have an ex parte hearing since there’s a potential for privileged information to be shared. She then recessed the trial until 9 a.m. Thursday.

So the trial is delayed another day. The prosecution had twelve more witnesses scheduled for today who got dicked over. Too bad Hasan won’t do us all a favor and make a break for it on his way to his personal chopper chauffeur so his guard detail has an excuse to put the final bullet in him.

The dog went one way, the pony went another, and we haven’t seen the monkey in days…

Just An Old Dog

I’m for a kindler, gentler sentence. Since Hasan is disabled I say we have him live out his days on a work release program. On a 500 acre pig farm/ pork processesing plant.

Smitty

love it old dog

Ex-PH2

Make a break for it? But he doesn’t have a racing wheelchair. How could he make a break for it.

How about this: put a gag order on him, period, for starters. Then sentence him to life in solitary, no outdoor access, only tiny window slit to see daylight through, nothing to read except the King James bible, and no one to talk to. Three meals per day, consisting of oatmeal or grits, water and no seasoning. This is considerably kinder than what the AQs and the Taliban do to their prisoners.

As I understand it, if someone is completely isolated, eventually he’ll start hallucinating. One can only hope.

So, in all honesty, if this is the way the Army treats murderers over the way they treat the victims, I could honestly see a rogue SM doing some recon and setting up a sniper position to take him out before he further makes a mockery of the UCMJ. That SM, if caught, will then be entitled to the life of luxury that never would have been afforded them if they continued honorable service.

I just don’t get the whole beard thing…WTF??!! Isn’t he still on active duty? Isn’t he still drawing a paycheck? He’s in a uniform, but they can’t MAKE him shave?

Are you kidding me?

Hondo

Coop: no, the Army can’t force him to shave. Or anyone else who adamantly refuses and is willing to take the consequences, for that matter.

However, I believe Army regulations do allow a prisoner in confinement who refuses to shave to be forcibly shaved to appear in court. As I understand it, the prisoner is forcibly restrained as required, then shaved by one of the detail. Why the judge here hasn’t ordered that is IMO a damn good question.

Personally, I’d recommend using clippers or scissors, then an electric razor. If the shaving detail uses a blade, Hassan might squirm around and cut himself up in a play for sympathy.

After shaving him, I’d then recommend they use Magic Shave – just to be sure. Also, that way the process should last a few days.

I guess theoretically they could also restrain him and use tweezers – though the courts might have a problem with it as abuse. That would also take a while – but would also last a while too. (smile)

@7
Give him a NAIR body shower.
I know some firefighters who busted in the NOOBS by putting in a can of nair in their boots before a call. From what I hear, it’s pretty funny to see the hairless new guys afterwards.
/I hear it burns a touch. 😀

Hondo

ChipNASA: that’s why I suggested Magic Shave. Reputedly a few guys have actually tried Nair on their face. The results reportedly weren’t pretty – and I don’t want to see Hassan have any excuse to claim abuse.

Chemical depilation is less effective and produces more unsightly redness and bumps than something like a bikini wax. I recommend the scissors, then the wax.

2/17 Air Cav

The terrorist bastard objected to the back-up lawyer’s statement to the court? Man, but for having to look at that scum, I’d love to be there to listen to some of the exchanges in person. What a fiasco.

USMCE8Ret

@5 – A rogue shooter couldn’t get to him. They’ve put barriers up and keep him out of view when transporting him…for that very reason.

@10 – How ’bout just the wax, then douse his face with alcohol – repeat?

CBSenior

I heard a hand grenade is a great hair remover.

Just An Old Dog

I’m sure the beard thing is just another compromise that was pushed down by the current administration in order not to offend his Islamic beliefs. Like the Koranimals would hate us any more if we forced a “believer” to shave his beard.
I understand a lot of factions of Islam also require shaving of the pubic area.
Since he cant do that for himself I saw we send in Nurse Cratchet with a blowtorch and some needle nose pliers.

DefendUSA

More mockery from the judge…I’m having another sham-wow! moment. JHC,I cannot believe this shit is for realz.

Green Thumb

This clown is angling for martyrdom and jerking around the Army as he is making it happen.

We have wasted entirely to much time and energy on this maggot.

Ex-PH2

Blowtorch. Works every time.

NR Pax

Hondo, I used Nair once for an inspection. It worked, but you notice I used the phrase “once”.

Common Sense

Too bad the cop who got him wasn’t a better shot. The delays in this case are a travesty. The creep who kidnapped and assaulted those 3 women has already been sentenced and his house razed and that was only a couple of months ago!

On the other hand, I’ve heard that those composite, 3D-printed guns are getting pretty good.

NavCWORet

I wonder what he’d do if they took the death penalty off the table and instead told him they’d seek life without parole in a military prison.

Ex-PH2

Oh, Jonn, I got the joke!

I was just doing the ‘uh-what?’ in return.

Just An Old Dog

Ex-PH2

He REALLY wants to die, you see.

http://news.msn.com/crime-justice/lawyer-hasan-intent-on-getting-death-sentence

I say disappoint him. Make him live in solitary until he dries up and blows away.

DaveO

For Major Hasan to be executed requires the POTUS to sign off on the death warrant.

Many of Hasan’s fans are also fans of PVT Manning and Snowden. And they contribute cash and time to Prognazi causes. Obama’s not going to do anything to Hasan unless it profits Obama.

NavCWORet

He doesn’t have the balls, one way or the other. It will drag out until Obama has left office and will drop into the lap of his successor.

A Proud Infidel

As for the beard, how about a lit road flare?

Barry's Speech Coach

Traitors ought to hang.

SFC D

I still say the Army should drop the charges and let Texas handle it. Quick conviction, 1appeal, tall tree and a short rope. Inshallah, bitch.

Roger in Republic

Shoot. Shovel. Shut up!

USMCE8Ret

@26 – Not before Barry gives both Hasan and Manning a Presidential pardon before he leaves office.

JP

@31: That’s not happening, as much as you want it to.

NHSparky

Uh, JP–I don’t think anyone here “wants” it to happen. But NOBODY here is putting the possibility of a pardon past Obumbles.

Frankly, the ones he dishes out in 2017 are going to be infuriating enough without those two assclowns on the list.
