Micheal Hastings dead in car crash

| June 20, 2013

Yeah, folks, I’m not hard of reading, I know the little prick, Michael Hastings, who sank the McCrystal staff died in a fiery car crash the other day. It’s sad, but it’s certainly no great loss for the journalistic community, like the journalistic community is making it out to be. People die in car crashes all of the time. People younger than this 33-year-old. In the McCrystal story in Rolling Stone magazine was just the doing the work for the Obama Administration, giving them an excuse to fire the General who had criticized the Obama Administration for half-assing the “surge” in Afghanistan.

Don’t forget that Hastings also penned the completely fictitious article about “The Men Who Stare at Senators” when some halfwitted Texas National Guard LTC, Michael Holmes, accused Brigadier General William Caldwell of trying to get his staff to use mind control on visiting Senators because Holmes wanted to get back at Caldwell for ruining his extra-marital relationship with a female O-5 and Holmes’ plans to turn his military job into a civilian endeavor.

Yeah that was Hastings, eager to turn on the military establishment for a glimpse at fame, not;

“Hard-charging, unabashedly opinionated, Hastings was original and at times abrasive,” Rolling Stone, where he was a contributing editor, said in an obituary. “He had little patience for flacks and spinmeisters and will be remembered for his enthusiastic breaches of the conventions of access journalism.”

It is in honor of Hastings and his article on the McCrystal staff that we continue to call the Vice President Joe Bite Me, so let that be his legacy.

I feel for his family and all those who loved him. Losing anyone you care about is a shitty thing.

That said I won’t be missing him. Hastings was a political hatchet man who slandered the reputation, and sabotaged the career, of a good man and seriously hurt our war fighting effort as a result. The McCrystal fiasco was a serious loss to JSOC and probably to the military as a whole.

Darkwater

Another journalist bites the dust, for whatever reason, & the MSM is in full-throated garment rending. They will tote up the daily kill numbers of the faceless American military to try to make a political point, but somehow one of their journalist buddies gets special treatment for days, as if he were more beloved of God.

“Every man’s death diminishes me,” as John Donne famously said, & so each death is tragic in its own way. If only the press would acknowledge that the Soldiers, Marines, Sailors & Airmen are worthy of their note, at least as much as a journalist who depended on their protection while he sought to denigrate their mission in search of a byline & Pulitzer Prize.

His death while tragic just proves that SGT KARMA will always be there to remind all the little fuck-ups in the world that in the end everyone must pay the piper!

Car crash? When is the media going to read off a list of names of people who have died in car crashes?

Ex-PH2

Hmm…. so that’s why the mourning doves were making so much noise yesterday.

“…I know the little prick, Michael Hastings, who sank the McCrystal staff…”

That’s one of the things I love about you, Jonn. We never have to guess how you feel about something!

OWB

Whatever. No more impact on my life than any other victim of a vehicular accident. (Except that this one will be writing no more hatchet pieces as a means to infamy.)

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Karma is indeed a harsh mistress, when she calls you better have your house in order. As Mr. Hastings has discovered a disordered house is a bad idea on Karma day.

Everybody dies, it’s just a matter of when, how you will be remembered is also in your hands. Mr. Hastings apparently will be missed by some and be of no consequence to others as it is for all of us.

Andy

Nobody deserves to die, but as a fellow journalist who wasn’t very fond of his hachetry, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a hit. He messed up the life of a pretty awesome (and powerful) dude.

I read in an article that the conspiracy theorists are already at work. Some person close by the accident said that it sounded like a bomb going off, engine suddenly on fire and parts everywhere.

Maybe the battery exploded?

Sparks

#3 Thank you for that. You said it far better than I.

With regards to McCrystal, he should have know better than to make the statements he did around Hastings… McCrystal’s mouth was his own worst enemy. I’m not saying I disagreed with anything he said, just that he should have kept those comments closer to his vest.

Honestly I have no feelings toward Hastings either way other than to wish he had put as much effort into exposing the current administration as he did McCrystal’s personal point of views….

So he died in “a fiery crash”. Just a foretaste of what he will face in the next life. Karma is karma.

A Proud Infidel & Patriot

Very true, Roger, he needed to get used to burning. I can only speculate that he probably caused the crash, I see him as the kind of person with a “To hell with you, ME FIRST!!” attitude in life, he was obviously trying to do a hatchet job on GEN McCrystal from the beginning!

High-speed car crash at 0425 hrs? I’d be shocked, shocked if alcohol was a factor here.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

The tin foil hats at Info Wars are already convinced that Obama had him killed….

Their “expert” explaining how a C class Mercedes just doesn’t explode has apparently never seen a high speed impact at 4:25 am after a vehicle crosses a median and ruptures a fuel tank….

Where do they find these people?

Anywhere you see people posting while wearing tinfoil hats!

How is it sad, again? Hastings enjoyed trading favors and money for written assassinations of Americans.

Shed a tear for Getty photog Chris Hondros, who was a good and honorable man and photojournalist, killed in Libya back in 2011. We spent some time under fire together in the shitty Dora neighborhood of Baghdad during the Surge- he died alongside Restrepo filmmaker and photographer Tim Hetherington in Misrata.

Will shed none for Hastings, though do acknowledge his family’s personal loss and will not engage in the lefty tactic of exulting in the death of another, no matter what I thought of his methods or values.
