In traitorous pieces of shit news today, Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood murderer, will ask for a change of venue for his trial says the Associated Press;
It’s unclear if the judge, Col. Tara Osborn, will rule on Hasan’s motion to plead guilty to lesser murder charges that don’t carry the death penalty. Prosecutors will proceed with the trial even if Osborn accepts those pleas, which are not part of any deal.
Ya know for someone who has admitted that he’s guilty and has offered to plead as such, he’s sure stretching out his ultimate fate.
In other POS news, Breanna Manning is expected to explain to the judge how s/he smuggled classified information out of his workplace in Iraq to forward it to the Wikileaks folks says Associated Press;
Pfc. Bradley Manning will answer questions Thursday from the judge who is considering whether to accept his offer to plead guilty to some charges.
Manning’s only public explanation for giving classified material to WikiLeaks can be found in logs of an online chat with a confidant-turned-government informant. In those chats, Manning wrote that he engineered the leak because “information should be free” and he wanted “people to see the truth.”
Even if a judge accepts his guilty plea, prosecutors can still pursue more serious charges against Manning. One charge is aiding the enemy, which carries a potential life sentence.
Yeah, s/he probably won’t admit that it was because his/her sweetie pie left him/her.

BP alert! All this bs just boggles the mind. Whatever happened to “GUILTY” and get the punishment over with? I am so sick and tired of the shenanigans of these POS. String ’em up already.
brat: IMO the Army is moving carefully here to ensure (1) it gets the death penalty for Hassan, and (2) there aren’t any grounds for appeal for either. Unfortunately, that means both can play the system – for a while, anyway. But they’ll eventually run out of cards to play.
Yeah, that sucks. But having either or both convictions overturned on appeal and one/both getting a new trial (or a reduction in sentence to something that allows their eventual release) would suck much worse.
Is it possible for Hassan to get the electric chair? That way they could sit Manning on his lap and the government could get what is known as a “twofer”….
MGySgtRet.: not sure, but I think the Federal government, including the military, uses the needle these days. Perhaps one of our JAG-types who are regular TAH readers knows the definitive answer and can enlighten us.

I’d personally be OK with either hanging or the chair as alternate means, too. However, I personally don’t think Hassan deserves the dignified end accorded by a traditional military firing squad. IMO he forfeited all right to that measure of dignity when he turned against his brothers- and sisters-in-arms.
Execution like the common criminal and traitor he admits he is seems to me more apropos for him.

According to AR 190-55, execution is by lethal injection.

What really grinds my ass is that the US Government is pussyfooting around on this while any and every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine accused of any offense against muslims is rushed to trial!
Hasan and manning in THUNDERDOME, two assholes enter the survivor gets fed to the fishes.
I also believe that before the death penalty is imposed on a service-member, and after it goes through all the appeal processes and legal reviews, the execution order has to be vetted through the White House for final approval.
Maybe that changed?

Jonn, the last one was 50+ years ago. Lots has changes with respect to how the death penalty is carried out since then. And AR 190-55 indicates lethal injection is now the method.
I’d personally prefer to see him hung; second preference would be the chair. But I can live with him getting the needle.
