FBI thwarts school murders
The Washington Times reports that the FBI stopped a woman whose intention was to fire bomb and shoot up a community college to wipe out a number of her classmates;
Amanda Bowden, 19, was taken into custody and accused of threatening to go on a Newtown-style killing spree at Gateway Community College, NBC reported. The reference is to the Dec. 14 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, during which 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed 20 children and six adults, before committing suicide.
“As alleged, this defendant made a series of threats that described in great detail her intention to carry out a suicidal mass murder at a community college in New Havem” said U.S. Attorney David Fein, in the NBC report.
According to NBC;
Bowden claimed to have guns and claimed that she had constructed at least two napalm-based bombs at her home in East Haven, according to [U.S. Attorney David] Fein.
The FBI and New Haven police chief Dean Esserman notified Gateway Community College President Dorsey Kendrick about the threats on Feb. 5, according to a school spokesperson.
“Chief Esserman and GCC security had been contacted by the FBI, and were told that there was no imminent danger as a result of the post, but an investigation was underway,” said Evelyn Gard. “The chief requested that Dr. Kendrick and GCC security keep the matter confidential until the investigation was complete.”
The photo at the NBC link shows her with a revolver – I guess we should get those out of the hands of women, too. Well, unless it’s a single action which is slower to load and fire.

OH NO … I guess here in NYS … mandatory registration of revolvers will be next … oh my poor S&W Model 10 never hurt no one!
Guessing by the length of the cylinder, that revolver she’s holding is a .22. I’m surprised NBC didn’t talk about the super-high velocity-tumbling-death bullets she had in her home.
A single action revolver?
Wait — isn’t a single action gun a Derringer?
Maybe since schools aren’t labeled “Bomb Free Zones” she thought she had a loophole?
Ex-PH2; No, on a single action revolver, you have to pull the hammer back to fire every shot. My Ruger Blackhawk .44 is a single action. A double action you can cock the hammer to fire, or just pull the trigger. But my Ruger LCR doesn’t have an exposed hammer, but it’s still considered a double action.
Thank you, JL. I did not know that.
“constructed at least two napalm-based bombs”
When will Barry and Bite-Me go TV to demand napalm bomb registration?
Don’t hear about female school shooters very often. I blame Panneta. Now that he has proclaimed women are equal enough to be combat arms, some must feel more free to finally be able to shoot up(and firebomb) their classmates.
Napalm napalm sticks like glue……
PMS?
Or “Mad Cow Disease” as we call it around here.
(ducks and quickly moves to cover and concealment)
@3/@5 You’re gonna have to take that girl shootin’, Jonn.
#9, LOL! *low-crawl back to kitchen for another cup of coffee*
What’s next, Federal Napalm Registration? *OOPS* it’s already illegal to possess explosive devices sans permit, hey, according to the left, that problem’s solved, they passed a law banning it! I’m also ready to bet a bottle of good Bourbon that the school she was planning to assault is a “Gun-Free Zone” as well, and according to libs, that’s supposed to halt shootings, too!
The hero(ine) is not the FBI, but the informant who opted not to chalk up the talk to bluster.
A concerned, aware citizen takes responsibility… bet s/he gets their ass sued off by the defendent, just like the folks in the Flying Imams case a few years ago.
You won’t find this on the MSM because she didn’t try to use a scary black rifle.
Police found zip when they searched her home. She’s just a fruitcake.
