Dan Bongino at the Maryland pro-gun rally

| February 8, 2013

Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent, talks to a rally of Guns Across America in Annapolis, MD the other day while Governor O’Malley was testifying to the Senate about his plan to disarm his state. I guess the point you should take away from this video is that Bongino says that in his 16 years as an agent, he never investigated a crime that had been committed with a legally acquired and owned gun.

But you should watch the whole video. But those who need to watch it, won’t.

His speech reminds me of a TV News interview of a BATF Agent with 20+ years service that I watched in the late 80s when the left was on another anti-gun screech to ban semi-autos (Uzi, Mac 10,…) The BATF Agent was asked “What is the most common illegal automatic weapon on the streets?” the agent responded “Stolen US Government firearms.” The reporter’s lower jaw them made a crater in the sidewalk, probably because his response was the opposite of what the reporter’s bosses wanted!

The Bonginos are solid guys, it’s ashame he ran in Maryland where he didn’t have much of a chance. Come up to PA Dan and we will put you in office!

Doc Bailey

Very concise and thoughtful.

That rally was pretty awesome. We had over 3000 people show up to speak in opposition to the law they were looking to pass in the the MD senate. We shut down the state house for the first time in 13 years because the fire marshal declared the building was above its occupancy. There were still a thousand people outside trying to get in. The news reports “hundred of activists were there to testify”. Ahhhh, the combination of Maryland, news media, and politicians, is enough to drive one crazy.

@2: As someone who lives in Maryland, I disagree. It’s not a shame that he ran. It’s a shame that he lost. 😀

@5 – True. Hopefully something good will come of all this gun control BS and help him in the next election.

ChipNASA

@2,
I voted for him for exactly this reason.
Secret Service, service, solid brain, moderate and conservative.
Too bad I have to live in the People’s Republic of Maryland.

So, in effect, the State is looking to pass a law to supersede the 2nd Amendment? Does nobody know what the phrase “shall not be infringed” means?

Old Trooper

@8: Ah, you’re completely out of touch. That was written by old white guys and has no meaning in modern times.

Common Sense

Just about to leave for Denver’s rally. The national one started at 10 but we have two other groups gathering from noon to 4pm.

Should be fun!

David

So Maryland’s guv thinks state law will supersede the Bill of Rights – wow, don’t they teach crooked lawyers ANYTHING in law school any more?

Common Sense

Back from the Denver rally. Probably 200-300 people there, kind of disappointing, it just wasn’t well organized, plus, it’s hard for people on a workday.

But the crowd was enthusiastic and the speakers were pretty good. One of the reps was from El Paso county and told us that their commissioners voted to reject and national or state laws that infringed on our 2nd Amendment rights. We’ve also had most of our sheriffs come out against gun control.

I did get a list of the major reps that are FOR gun control so I will add them to my letter writing campaign. The Dems have proposed some really bad gun control laws that MUST be defeated. Things like making the retailer and manufacturer criminally responsible if someone commits a crime with one of their guns. Ridiculous! Plus the usual 10 round magazine limit and universal background checks.

The Left Coasters that have infiltrated our state have turned us blue and I’ve seriously considered moving to Wyoming, where the West is still free.
