“Do SOMETHING”, NY!!!

| January 14, 2013

Well, Andrew Cuomo and his legislature in New York will be the first to DO SOMETHING! on gun control after the Sandy hook shooting. When I say “do something” I mean “do something stupid and useless”. A link to NBC sent to us by Old Trooper explains just how eager Liberals are to do anything to appear to voters as if they have good intentions;

The tentative agreement would further restrict New York’s ban on assault weapons and limit the size of magazines to seven bullets, rather than the current 10. Other elements, pushed by Republicans, would refine a mental health law to make it easier to confine people determined to be a threat to themselves or others.

Senate Republicans also have included a further crackdown on illegal gun trafficking into New York, the people said. Most New York City gun crimes involve weapons illegally brought into the state, state and city officials say.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity because the proposal had not been discussed among rank and file legislators. They say the tentative deal was struck over the weekend and will be debated behind closed doors Monday in the Senate and Assembly.

Yup, three rounds will make a huge difference – it wouldn’t have stopped William Spengler, the Webster, NY shooter who shot four firefighters, killing two. Four is less than seven. The only people who will benefit are the magazine manufacturers who will have to pound out new magazines for the folks who bought their guns when the limit was 10. And the funny part is that this is the best that gun grabbers could get. And they worked it out over a weekend. A whole weekend!

How do you “further restrict” a ban? Albany’s proctologists must be working overtime helping the legislators who spent all weekend pulling things out of their ass.

limit the size of magazines to seven bullets, rather than the current 10.

Meaning my .45 would be illegal in NY. Funny, it doesn’t LOOK like an “assault rifle”…

That post shows CT state law maker proposing that CT restrict ALL weapons to one round. ONE ROUND.

It does more than that, unless TSO can weigh in and clarify this paragaph:

E. POSSESSION OF AN ASSAULT WEAPON ON PROPERTY OWNED OR IMMEDIATELY
CONTROLLED BY THE PERSON, OR WHILE ON THE PREMISES OF A LICENSED
GUNSMITH FOR THE PURPOSE OF LAWFUL REPAIR, OR WHILE ENGAGED IN THE LEGAL
USE OF THE ASSAULT WEAPON AT A DULY LICENSED FIRING RANGE, OR WHILE
TRAVELING TO OR FROM THESE LOCATIONS, BY A PERSON WHO LAWFULLY POSSESSED
SUCH WEAPON PRIOR TO JANUARY FIRST, TWO THOUSAND FOURTEEN AND WHO, PRIOR
TO APRIL FIRST, TWO THOUSAND FOURTEEN:
1. RENDERS THE ASSAULT WEAPON PERMANENTLY INOPERABLE; OR
2. SURRENDERS THE ASSAULT WEAPON TO THE APPROPRIATE LAW ENFORCEMENT
AGENCY AS PROVIDED FOR IN SUBPARAGRAPH (F) OF PARAGRAPH ONE OF SUBDIVI
SION A OF THIS SECTION.

That seems to call for mandatory turn in or destruction.

Wait, let’s hear it again.. “Most New York City gun crimes involve weapons illegally brought into the state, state and city officials say.”

Twist

It’s already started. Scrolling through the interwebs there are already conspiracy theorists claiming Sandy Hook was a hoax. I wonder what Duff’s take on it is.

This state is so backasswards it is unreal. My father went to renew his rifle permit in the city and was told that my grandfthers old lever action .22 had to be retrofitted to accept fewer rounds. Because we all know that a little hand me down plinker is the most dangerous weapon around. No one mentioned anything to any gun owners or voters, the rule was changed without a word spoken. Im ashamed to say i am from this state/city. I for one will not ve going anywhere to turn in my guns. I hae served my country and my city honorably and will not be treated like a criminal or be led to victimization.

If I could move out of NY, I’d do it tomorrow. Too many family ties and responsibilities prevent us moving to Wyoming or other “good” state.

Gov. Cuomo, like his extremely leftist father Mario, are in a place where California-like laws and thinking are the norm. This state makes me sick to my stomach.

I’m truly worried about our country.

“Unlawful to posess a “assault weapon” on school grounds…” umm sure because that would have stopped the shooting in Conneticut as that asshole surely would have heeded that restriction….

People get the government/amount of tyranny they allow. Folks will have to come to terms with a few facts: The voting population seems willing to hand their lives over to the elite ruling class. NY will pave the way for more facsism. Mass-exodus of the state by those who value their freedom will be the only answer. Sucks. Pretty state, lots to offer; governed by fools. Fools are re-elected. Vicious cycle. Sorry NY folks. Get out while you can.

Speaking of people for whom I have zero respect, obama said today that he will not negotiate raising the debt ceiling, punctuating that bravado by saying next that, “We are not a deadbeat nation.”

Bwahahahahahahaha.

As Otter said in Animal House “this calls for someone to make a really stupid, futile gesture and we’re just the guys to do it…………”

Look, it’s clear that rationality has no place in discussions with the gun grabbers and tyrants-in-training. Facts, truth, and even the Constitution don’t matter to the rabble in $1,500 suits so, my question is, why bother?

I can see six-shooters becoming a new fashion statement. Just remember to tie down the leg holster.

When I was in ROTC, I was in charge of a marksmanship range. Long story short, there was a negligent discharge in the van. As I was the cadet in charge, I could see my career flash before my eyes as soon as I heard the shot.

When I stood before my BN Commander, I was prepared to get torn a new one. My lecture consisted of three sentences;

“First rule of leadership, cadet; everything is your fault. Don’t make a bunch of new rules, make sure the ones you have in place are enforced. Will this ever happen again?”

“No sir.”

“Good. Good luck next week.” (referring to the next marksmanship lab.)

That was a leadership lesson I will never forget. I wish those in power could understand those simple principles.

Corrected quote for comment 11:

Otter: Dead! Bluto’s right. Psychotic… but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons, but that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part!

Bluto: We’re just the guys to do it.

I got it off the internet, so you know that it’s true.

The conspiracy theorist’s started running with Sandy Hook twelve hours after and been non-stop ever since. Sort of makes me wonder just how much of this crap is coming from the left fringe groups associated with Obama and his merry crew. Some legislator’s down here are yapping about more gun control now, too. Seems one of our Congress critters stepped on his willy last week and is trying to walk it back….lol.

FourteenSierra@16, thank you for that source of information. Was that from the Gettysburg Address?

2/17 Air Cav

@16. That was funny. Reminds me of a great quote I saw on George Washington’s blog. I want to get it right so I’ll go revisit and get back to you. That George says the drandest things sometimes.

Which GW? GW Shrub? Or THE GW, first President?

Yep, do something, even if it’s wrong.

The magazine on my 100 year old Lee Enfield would be illegal.

Ex-PH2

The wail from the (guess which) side of the road was “Do something! Do something!”

I was busy keeping the zombie apocalypse at bay, so when one of the chicken-brained nubbinses grabbed at my left headlight and cried tearfully “Do something!” again, I said, “Do SOMETHING?!?!?!?” Then I laughed, and shouted “Oh, do it yourselves, you impotent sloths! You let this happen. You get yourselves out of it! I’m busy! Bye! See ya!”

And I drove happily away, into the rising sun as the zombie army crept out of the woodline and started rounding up the quivering herds of twitterpated nubbinses.

End of Chapter One.

Woodman–shrub? Dude, Molly Ivins is still dead. Let it die with her, man.

Cuomo asks, “At what point do you say, `No more innocent loss of life’?”

Golly. I never thought of that. All the NY government ever had to do to end murders was to no more innocent loss of life. This is brilliant! But why stop there? How about, saying no more rapes, burglaries, arsons, robberies, and any other felonies? The legislature could pass a joint resolution and Cuomo could stand up at a press conference and wave it. You see, the biggest problems often have simple solutions.

NHSparky

Air Cav–brilliant. If men didn’t have penises, there’d be no more rapes, right?

Or maybe not in the public school system, but you get my point.
