Folks in Israel Will Sleep Better Tonite

| November 17, 2012

In a move that must have led to dancing in the streets of Tel Aviv Washington has  acknowledged that:

The White House says it believes Israel “has the right to defend itself” against attack and that the Israelis will make their own decisions about their “military tactics and operations.”

So this particular story is only the AP via Fox News. Still I can’t  find ANY story, anywhere,  that indicates that our government has officially said that it will actually support Israel.

Also can’t find any stories that suggest the Israelis  are leaving their shelters over this heartfelt show of support so probably not much dancing going on after all.

Oh yeah… It’s all on Israel – not us.

And in a much too familiar move, PotUS is leaving town. Nope, feels no responsibility to stay near the phone and advisors while an ally is under attack. Oh, no, can’t have that. Let’s just make certain that our enemies and those of our allies fully understand that we just don’t care about a few bumps in the road.

Just in case anyone wants to know, the French government is shutting down the roads to the “safe” zone (Pic de Bugarach) ahead of the 12/21/2012 date, so if all-out war erupts, don’t bother going there.

The odds on all-out war erupting are pretty high right now.

I’m really glad Israel won’t have to rely on our national lack of leadership to defend them. I’m pretty sure by now they know not to count on anybody.

Hey, did you see the thank you message from Iraq?

“A top Iraqi diplomat urged Arab states to ‘use the weapon of oil’ against the United States because of its alliance with Israel, raising more questions about the Middle Eastern nation’s allegiance to the country that freed it from a ruthless dictatorship.”

Keep your oil. We have windmills and some cost ineffective solar stuff!

Living in Israel

We go to bed at night with the knowledge that our husbands, sons, and friends stand ready to fight the terrorists. Unlike in the US, everyone here personally knows a soldier, or is friendly with the family of one.

I just spoke with an infantryman this morning who hasn’t received the call to Gaza yet– his unit mainly focuses on the YeSHa front (“West Bank” if you don’t study the regional history). I have another friend in the air force, whose younger brother begins basic training on Monday. One of the alumni at my school just finished his service, and another just began his service as a chaplain– one of his tasks is identifying bodies and notifying families.

I will serve in two years; I will become a citizen next year.

No one is sleeping tonight.

Here’s another thank you from Iraq.

“A Hezbollah commander wanted by the United States has been released from Iraqi custody and flown to Beirut, where one U.S. lawmaker believes he will soon make his way back onto the battlefield.

Lawyer Abdul-Mahdi al-Mitairi said Ali Mussa Daqduq was released on Friday from house arrest in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. The lawyer did not provide further information in an email sent to The Associated Press.

The U.S believes Daqduq was the mastermind of a 2007 raid on an American military base in the Iraqi holy Shiite city of Karbala that killed five U.S. soldiers.

Two Iraqi courts have found Daqduq not guilty and rejected the U.S. request to extradite the Hezbollah militant.”

Here’s my input yesterday regarding @6:

This link (from Fox News’ website) leads to other links to articles about what is going on in the Middle East:

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2012/11/16/liberated-iraq-calls-on-arab-states-to-use-oil-as-weapon-against-us%3ELiberated%20Iraq%20Calls%20on%20Arab%20States%20to%20Use%20Oil%20as%20'Weapon'%20Against%20US%3C/a%3E%3C/b%3E%20%20%3C/li%3E%3Cli%3E%3Cb%3E%3Ca%20href=

I found it particularly interesting that Iraq is threatening to use oil as a wespon against us for siding with Israel over being attacked by Hamas.

My suggestion is that we go back in there, fully loaded with incendiary bombs and set their damn oil wells on fire.

But then, I don’t see things through the distorted lenses in place in WDC. And it would automatically spike the price of oil, and subsequently gasoline, so that means that I would have to impose price limits on both at the commodities markets, which would piss people off at me (and I don’t care), but I’d do it anyway.

Just a question here, nothing else. My sister, when she got married, converted to Judaism because her (long since ex) husband was Jewish. After she got divorced, she stayed in the Jewish faith.

She voted for Bo. Both times.

Am I wrong to want to rub her nose in it?

UpNorth

Ex, probably not. She’ll cite the statement from BO as “proof” that she was right. Ignoring that Baracka seems to be developing a pattern here.
1. Attack on the consulate in Benghazi? Fly off to Vegas, visions of Beyonce in his head.
2. Attack on Israel? Fly off to the Far East, with visions of Susan Rice in his head.

CAs6

“So what are you saying? When you get divorced you turn in your library card? You get a new license? You stop being Jewish? Three thousand years of beautiful tradition, from Moses to Sandy Koufax…”

RS

@ PH2 #8 suffocate her with the guilt trip…. Gene Simmons voted for BO the first time, but then changed his mind, [unless you have been to the Golan Heights you don’t know what the fuck you are talking about, because it is practically indefensible] sorry I was just paraphrasing there.

on another note I’am glad to hear that the Israelis got that Palestinian Commander in an Air Strike…

OWB

All I really want to know is if, as he begins his victory lap around the world, he bowed to the prime minister of Thailand? If not, why not? Does he only bow to dictators and monarchs??

@9, 10, 11 — Well, like all converts to another religion, she’s more orthodox than the orthodox Jews, and last summer took a long trip to Israel right around the time there were warnings that things might heat up a bit. She did what she always does, called me from O’Hare airport and let me know about it, so I asked her if she knew then what was going on over there, and she said yes and she wasn’t worried.

She did send me some pictures of really ancient Roman ruins and parts of Jerusalem after she got back, and I certainly could not begrudge her going. It’s very much like my one vacation trip to England where I spent an entire day at Stonehenge and another at Leeds Castle and shot about 20 rolls of film.

It’s just the massive amount of fun I can get out of pointing out that her candidate has snubbed the Israelis. It would be as if Jack Kennedy had snubbed the Pope — which he didn’t do.

It would certainly get her knickers in a twist.

Here’s how Israel can lose:

Air and naval forces from Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, and Syria deny shipments of supplies to Isreal. Only requires the naval forces of NATO to stand down. Any ship or plane has to go down a long ‘bowling alley’ of enemies to get to Israel.

US 6th Fleet closes the Strait of Gibraltar, but US 5th Fleet must permit PRC and NORK ships through the Suez Canal.
