All weekend, I listened to Fox news folks complaining that the Petraeus sex scandal was sucking the air out of the Benghazi investigation, that the media was more interested in the lascivious details of the salacious extra-curricular activities of the CIA director than in the death of four Americans. Well, admitting there’s a problem is only half of the battle;
Of course, this morning, everyone is wrapped up in the details of “when the President knew” about the Petraeus affair and the White House is not being forthcoming with those details. Yeah, that’s for a reason – because the White House is taking advantage of the media’s focus on L’affaire Petraeus and how easily they’re distracted by the sight of a pair of comely Lebanese twins and the possibility that they’re easy. The Obama White House is going to leak out slowly details of the investigation to keep the media fixated on the scandal.
The UK’s Telegraph, in announcing the salivating press’ dream come true that Obama is finally going to throw them some crumbs in a press conference this morning on the subject, admits that it’s just a distraction;
The widening probe into Petraeus’s extramarital affair has raised questions about the US commander in Afghanistan, distracting from talks over a looming budget crisis and efforts to fill high-level positions in Obama’s second term.
Well, at least as we’re going over the financial cliff we’ll have some entertainment.

Man it seems this President did not know when anything happens in his administration. Was not informed of the Fast and Furious gun running, did not know till 6 hours later about the attack in Benghazi and now the petraus scandal.

All cyber-webs come back to Jill Kelley, a civilian, Tampa socialite with the attributes and influence to get the FBI to investigate anonymous, private emails she didn’t like.
A question to ask is whether or not an “ordinairy” citizen could have had such an investigation initiated, with no real evidence of criminal misconduct.
A revealation in the matter is that the FBI conducts tens of thousands of searches of private email accounts every year, and don’t need a warrant to read them. What I wanna know from the likes of Liberals is do you have liars and cheats as friends, spouses? If you do, then I understand why you voted for Obama, again.
If you would not accept lack of trustworthiness, lying and cheating in your spouse or choice of friends, then how is it that you continue to give the Pied Piper a pass on his behaviors and still vote for him to be the Commander in chief, and not call him out?
Why? Why are you avoiding the hard questions and not demanding the truth?
Considering:
-the Khawham family immigrated during a time of social upheaval (hide your agents in large immigration influx)
-the “volunteer” status, number of parties and invitees, and choice of military base
-the officers involved (both ISAF commanders and from MacDill)
-the type of inappropriate email exchanges and the marital status of the officers and the potential for blackmail
-the odd personal favors provided by the officers
-the admitted passing of classified information from General Allen to Jill Kelley(Khawham)
-the alleged physical exchange between Jill and Gen Petraeus
Not surprised if this turns out to be a spy ring that went bad because the agents tried to use their pawns for personal gain (sister’s custody hearing).
The true question is how much of a distraction was this to the war effort and how many of us were injured or killed because two guys wanted to play patty-cake with another man’s wife?
so let me get this straight, when the President of the United States uses his position to hide an affair he has, and lies under oath, we’re told to Move On (and we’re still dealing with that crappy website)
But when we have a General show poor judgement, we can’t stop looking at it? Worse than that we seem to have completely forgotten the fiscal cliff, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, and oh yeah AFGHANISTAN

Speaking of the financial cliff, the general populace in the Eurozone are grossly unhappy and have staged protests from Greece to Spain and Portugal, all the up to Belgium, halting air and rail transportation, etc., etc., etc. Think it can’t happen here? Think again. The CTA transit workers shut down the entire transit system when Jane Byrne was elected mayor.

@WOTN, the prevailing attitude towards the Bill of Rights has been that of denigration since the passing of the Patriot Act….warrantless searches of personal papers are a daily occurrence under the previous and current administration. It’s as if people did not understand Ben Franklin when he said, “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
I have always been far more concerned about a police state than an external terrorism threat. The drug “war”, the GWOT, all have implications to our internal liberties and the slow systemic march to disarming the populace and controlling the herd.
Those implications should be of far more concern than the ambition of a couple of immoral sluts and the j3rkoffs cheating on their wives by fornicating with them…but we do so love shiny objects, especially when they cover boobies….
At best the Kelly woman is a high end tag chaser…at worst…I am thinking that maybe Patraeus had someone watching his back and as soon as he knew things were about to get really bad decided to get it out in the open.

I see your point Ex-PH2, but I personally do not compare two things in cases like these in terms of which is the lesser evil.
I feel a lowly private would get their privates stomped on for the kind of shenanigans these generals are engaging in. Being so sloppy and careless that the person you are having an affair with has easy access to classified material and taking them home does not sit well with me, and this has nothing to do with political affiliation.
As for Broadwell and others, they will have the last laugh all the way to the bank. Just imagine the kinds of offers she must be getting now from the tabloids. She is probably working on her own autobiography as we speak, and mulling exclusive television interviews.

My thoughts exactly. When did the upper reaches of our military become the aristocracy? Living lavishly at taxpayer expense – General Ward. Petraeus also supposedly took Paula Broadwell on a nice trip to Paris at our expense.
Vince Flynn did an interview lately and said that he had a 2 hour lunch with Petraeus that Petraeus requested. He had an interesting view of his personality. He also said that the entourage he traveled with was quite a bit larger than either Presidents Clinton or Bush.

Is this what these generals are doing while good men and women are risking and giving their lives for their country?
Maybe I was naive and thought that military brass conducted themselves with more dignity and honor than the politicians that populate the rest of government. I guess I was wrong.
I’m sure their are good decent people as well, but their faces are plastered all over the media.
No matter how solid the tree looks, if the core is rotten, it will eventually come down. We’re hearing about all of this now, after the affair is exposed, but how long has it been going on?
Petreaus didn’t make “a mistake.” Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and that is what he has become: corrupted.
Ex-PH2: I’d say defrauding the government out of $50+ million is a much more serious matter than having an affair. But that’s just me.
