McKeon to White House; put up or shut up

| November 1, 2012

ROS sends us a link to our buddy, Gateway Pundit, who reports that Buck McKeon chairman of the House Armed Services Committee is telling the President to prove that he ordered the military to protect Americans at the Benghazi consulate and that somehow someone besides his staff fumbled;

I find it implausible that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Commander of U.S. Africa Command, and the Commander of U.S. European Command would have ignored a direct order from the Commander in Chief. Therefore, could you please clarify:

•To whom did you issue this first directive and how was this directive communicated to the military and other agencies – verbally or in writing?
• At any time on September 11, 2012, did you specifically direct the military to move available assets into Libya to ensure the safety of U.S. personnel in Benghazi? If so, which assets did you order to Libya?
• At any time on September 11, 2012, other than ISR assets, did you provide the authority for the military to take any and all necessary measures to secure U.S. personnel, including specifically the authority to enter Libyan airspace?

It goes on so you should read the whole thing.

In relation to Benghazi, I thought I’d give you some insight into the types of crap that ends up in my inbox. This clown sends me an email almost everyday, and there’s about a hundred bloggers on the CC list, as if we’re interested in what the untrained ape has to say, but this what we’re up against in the election;

Nothing is more pathetic than ignorant republicans and tea party idiots playing Monday morning quarterback and 2nd guessing Obama’s foreign policy and military decisions – especially when they only know about 2 percent of the facts on the timeline of events surrounding the Benghazi tragedy 7 weeks ago.

Listening to Mitt Romney prattle about foreign policy and middle east diplomacy is like listening to Newt Gingrich for marital advice. Romney has hired 24 foreign policy advisors – 17 of them worked for George w. Bush during his disgraceful 8 year presidency. Romney could not find Egypt, Syria or Libya on a world map if his life depended on it. Mitt Romney could not attain President Obama’s knowledge of foreign policy if Romney lived to the age of 500.

Obama got Osama because George W. Bush and Dick Cheney couldn’t close a screen door.

I guess he forgot about the “Monday morning quarterbacking” that went on during the Bush Administration, like Harry Reid, Wesley Clark and Jon Soltz on MSNBC every night calling the “surge” a failure in Iraq before the troops had even been partially deployed. And, oh, by the way, seven weeks after 9-11-2001, the Taliban had already been removed from the seat of power in Afghanistan. Obama hasn’t even closed down any terrorist camps in Libya.

Here’s the troll’s email address. I’ve asked him to remove me from his email list, and he hasn’t so maybe you can convince him that it was a bad idea; John Rebstock jrebstock@comcast.net.

Partisan hack making political hay. Yawn…

There is one sure thing that we all know: if the US military had received ANY sort of order to protect and secure the Americans in Benghazi, it would have been done, with enthusiasm. Period. The fact that it did not happen is proof positive that no such order was given. Anything else follows from there. How hard is that?

Hondo

Not seeing an e-mail address in the article, Jonn.

Twist

I agree with Medic on this one. If the Military was ordered to go in and get our fellow Americans out then they would have done one of two thing:

1. Gotten them out.
2. Died trying to get them out.

It reminds me about a Larry King interview in the early 90s about the Black Hawk Down fight that I’m going to paraphrase here.

King asks something to the effect of; so you kept going going in and trying to rescue the Rangers and each time you took casualties, lost vehicles, and ran out of ammo yet you kept going in, why? The service member being interviewed replied with a four word answer “because they where there”.

Obama is like many other politicians, telling untruths or misrepresentations as fact and adding stern rhetoric to make the lie seem more truthful. The problem with presidents is that there is a much larger paper trail, voice mail/email/electronic communication trail, than is associated with your run of the mill local hack politician.

Presidential misrepresentations are much harder to hide….for those on the fence with a few days left consider these things and make a decision based on whether the man has done what he promised or not. Is this the hope and change you expected? If not, time to forget party and vote against the people who don’t tell the truth or don’t fulfill their promises.

Well, at first glance this seemed like a good start. Then, in the ending paragraph of the letter it’s kinda like answer us if you feel like it, can get around to it, or just have anything you want to share with us. What about a “We demand that you respond with details within 48 hours.” Or 12 hours. Or immediately.

This would have been good coming from the newsie interviewer his god Barack. Now with Sandy and the news of urban dwellers acting like they’ve never lived a day without a government handout (raiding the trash? really?), this is meaningless.
