LTC Dooley fights back

| October 7, 2012

Chief Tango sends us a link to an article at The Blaze which announces that LTC Matthew Dooley is fighting back against Big Army because they fired him from his job at the Joint Forces Staff College at the National Defense University. Their only reason for firing him was the breathless retardation of Spencer Ackerman which we wrote about in May; Ackerman, the idiot, tried to make the point that Dooley was preaching policy to young officers about radical Islam, when he was only teaching them to look at war from an academic standpoint.

After the Ackerman piece, and with malice of forethought, the Army’s living, breathing example of the Peter Principle (employees tend to rise to their personal level of incompetence), chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey, fired Dooley. So now Dooley is taking legal action against Big Army and Martin Dempsey for kowtowing to the popular culture idiots, Ackermann and Schactman.

“Dooley is still serving in the military and not allowed to speak publicly on his case, according to Thompson. But the soldier is hoping to have his negative OER revised and be reinstated in his job as an instructor, according to Thompson, who maintains that the guidelines from the NDU Faculty Handbook were disregarded when Dooley was relieved of his position,” according to FoxNews.com.

Dempsey is a tool, for this, among several other failures this year. Influencing Dooley’s raters for this derogatory OER should cause him to lose his job, since he’s more concerned with appeasing propagandists than he is with the readiness of his officer corps. I hope Dooley sticks it right in Big Army’s ass.

This just sucks for the LTC. Even if he wins his case and the Army has to reinstate him and fix the OER, he will have to wear this scarlet letter for the rest of his career. He might win the battle, but when he’s pitted against the Green Machine, he’s going to lose the war. It’s wrong and it’s total bullshit, but I think they’ll make it so hard for him that he’ll have to get out prematurely, mostly for not being a ‘team player’ and lacking ‘loyalty’. I do hope this works out for him in a positive way, but I have my doubts. Good luck LTC.

Concur with the above, the green machine always wins. I’ve seen officers relieved of duty in a combat zone, the entire command staff given GOMR’s, and then laugh at the reprimands as if they were a joke, because, the GOMR’s didn’t stay in their records. I’ve seen fat female Major’s make LTC, having not taken an APFT in four years, personally witnessing them FAIL that previous APFT, and then get JFCOM’s and Bronze Stars. I’ve had to go on VIP escort convoys because an LTC was too scared to fly five minutes on a bird to the IZ from VBC. I’ve been screamed at by that same LTC for not blindly signing a multi-million dollar sensitive item inventory without eyes on every item. They got pissed because I wouldn’t commit fraud.

Dempsey demonstrates routinely he is unfit to serve any longer. He publically bashes this LTC (an O-10 beating on an O-5, that takes some balls, huh, Marty? I’m sure you’ve forgotten the “praise in public and chew ass in private” thing); telling veterans to shut up, trying to stifle their first amendment rights; using the power and prestige of his office to intimidate a private citizen; and recently flying top cover for a fellow general involved in multiple felonies. Martin Dempsey is a disgrace and embarassment.

I dunno, back in the day (mid ’80’s) watched a guy spend big bucks to get his non-promotion to O-4 overturned (the infamous Bahnsen Board) and go from CW2 to LTC overnight. If LTC Dooley was passed over for promotion to Colonel, he may have a fighting chance to get it back.

Wanna be a colonel in today’s Army? Follow the lead of Dave Lampan (Dempsey’s boy) and defend the indefensible, explain the inexplicable, and make sure that you remove your nose from your boss only when he wants to sit down.

Bobo

He’s probably close to, if not over, 20. A referred report will kill his career, so, at this point he has nothing to lose. If he can make it turn into a center of mass OER, he might have a chance at the next O6 board.

Old Trooper

What is it with the latest batch of 4-star lilly livered politicians running the show? I mean, first Gates was babbling on about diversity and bullshit while covering for Hasan, now this Dempsey prick is acting like he’s more interested in a cushy job with the Obama administration than being the top dog soldier looking out for his troops that he’s supposed to be.

Dooley appears to be one of the few folks actually discussing these difficult issues with some honesty.

Considering uncomfortable realities, and methods for dealing with those realities in a hypothetical setting are exactly what a proper teaching environment should put forth in its’ curriculum. Some of our most violent current enemies are Islamist, calling them such even if not politically correct is accurate and his termination for doing so speaks volumes about the people responsible for prosecuting the war. If we are uncomfortable calling our enemies our enemies and identifying the underlying motivational and inspirational dialogues our enemies use to build a force to prosecute their jihad against us, we have a serious problem with effectively controlling that enemy.

Weakness to the dictums of political correctness should be an automatic disqualifier to hold these command positions.

I wish the LTC the best of luck in pursuing his case.

Back in ’01 I had the pleasure of serving with LTC (then CPT) Dooley at III Corps HQ on Ft. Hood. The job was a crap one (taking VIP’s around Ft Hood), but CPT Dooley actually gave a darn about his LT’s (I.E. us) and made the job bearable and worth doing. His leadership and honesty made an big impact on me as a young LT. The Army would be doing itself an EXTREME disservice to let him go. He was (and is) a damn fine officer. The kind the Army needs to keep around.

Marty Dempsey should go as soon as Romney is innagurated in January. Sorry, Dempsey, you are not as smart as you think. You suck up to Obama.

People need to learn from history. In the 1930’s radical people in Germany, Italy, and Japan starting taking over their countries. The world stayed out of it and even made treaties to try and make peace with them so they would leave them alone. The US was lucky then we had oceans to protect us. But all those thing that were done did nothing to stop these radical people. They took over their countries and continued to try and take over other countries dispite the treaties. These radical Islamic people are just like those folks in the 30s. You cannot appease them. They believe they have an obligation to spread Islam around the world by any means neccessary and will say and do what ever it take. We had to wipe out the radicals in the 40s that started in the 30s in WWII. I hate to say it but the only way to stop these radical Islamist is to wipe them out. LTC Dooley has it correct. Had we done it in the 30’s there would have been no need for WWII we could have stopped them before they created the power to spread. We cannot survive a WWIII so we have to stop them before they have gained the power needed to spread. Fight them now and we avoid WWIII. COver it up as the PC folks wants us to and we will eventually fight a WWIII.
