Jarome Neil; saving the world
ROS sends us a link to an article about a foiled jewelry robbery in Seattle during which 12-year Army veteran, Jarome Neil, tackled the fleeing malignant tumor of humanity;
On the northwest corner of Seventh Avenue and Stewart Street, directly across from the federal courthouse, the robber turned and fired three shots at the pursuing doorman, said Jarome Neil, a 12-year Army veteran, who ducked when he heard the shots.
Neil joined several other men who tackled and held the suspect.
A man wearing a white chef’s shirt emerged from nearby Hotel Max and grabbed the robber in a bear hug from behind, Neil said.
Merlyn Parker, a 38-year-old Real Change newspaper vendor, grabbed the robber’s arm and shoulder.
“I got him in a headlock,” Neil said, “and took him to the ground and put my knee on his neck.”
But, generally, the media would rather report that some disadvantaged jewelry borrower going about his own business was abused, assaulted and other wise disheveled by a crazed veteran. But here’s the video of the take down;

Well done. Hope the asshole thief broke his jaw (or something else) when he hit the ground.
What a nice way to begin the week! I love the what-the-hell-just-happened look on his face. That and a hint of relief that the po-po arrived and 600 pounds of good citizens are off his back.
Very well done! Definitely a nice way to start off the week! Hooah, Jerome Neil! I loved hearing the perp crying….hehe!
Why do I see a lawsuit coming?
Not only Mr. Neil but hats off to all the people willing to do something and not just watch this dirtbag run off!!
Outstanding!
God Bless America. This sort of thing happen in NYC all the time. The bad guy rarely gets away. I have conducted the habeous grabbous several times as a LEO and civilian. It feels much better as civilian. No law suits for the arresting civilians. To make the arrest good (generally and in my terms) they just have to do it as a witness to and knowledge of (the incident of crime), and in good faith. My bet is they will get an award from the Mayor or Police Chief.
I love a happy ending! I was also amused by the patrol officer running into the melee with a scatter gun.
Well done, all!
The Edmund Burke quote came into play…well there were good men present and they acted!
I like that part where the nasty man’s mask fell of. It looked like his face was falling apart.
Jerome Neill — whatta guy!
From a quck look at the Glock on the ground, it looked like he had a malfunction. Just read a study where they’ve found that most dumbass criminals have pistols that don’t work. (wrong ammo, no magazines, dirty, broken parts etc)
Let’s just keep hoping they stay stupid
This Jarome Neil and I thank everyone for their comments. The thing is I just care about people and I have been shot before and it is not fun. This dumb ass just started firing and there was women and some young kids around. I felt it was my duty to do what I had to do.
Jarome, you have no idea how much the members of this forum are grateful that there are veterans out there like you that make the rest of us look good. Thanks.
