Media vs Palin

| September 12, 2008

I suppose that since the media can’t get Governor Sarah Palin to make mistakes, they figure they’ll have to manufacture some. Last night, Hot Air caught Charlie Gibson mangling a quote of hers to make her seem like an extreme whacko Christian. From Ace of Spades;

GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, “Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.”PALIN: You know, I don’t know if that was my exact quote.

GIBSON: Exact words.

PALIN: But the reference there is a repeat of Abraham Lincoln’s words when he said — first, he suggested never presume to know what God’s will is, and I would never presume to know God’s will or to speak God’s words.

Not exact words, Gibson. She said (paraphrase) “Let us pray that our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.” The AP cut off the beginning off that, and of course all the idiots in the MSM repeat it.

In this morning’s Washington Post, Anne Kornblut mischaracterizes Palin’s words to deploying Alaskan troops. I’ve taken to screen capping WaPo’s articles because they change stuff after they get caught lying;

The part I dispute is the supposition that Palin was talking about the Hussein government when she mentioned the “the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans.” Kornblut might not know this but there’s an organization in Iraq called “al Qeada in Iraq” who are affiliated with the people who planned and carried out” the 9-11 attacks. Governor Palin didn’t mention the nationalities of the enemies. But that didn’t stop WaPo from making the assertion that she did. Cute.

The idea that the Iraqi government under Saddam Hussein helped al-Qaeda plan the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, a view once promoted by Bush administration officials, has since been rejected even by the president himself. But it is widely agreed that militants allied with al-Qaeda have taken root in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion.

I guess, even though they dispute the main thrust of their own argument in the same paragraph makes it OK. Even the link on their front page carries this theme for the attention deficit crowd;

Keeping it classy, commenters swallow the thing whole;

wake up America and smell the coffee ,its more of the same old .If you want to be dragged into another war vote McCann and Palin.

Added:

Michelle Malkin quotes Michael Goldfarb;

“It seems we are to assume that this group [al Qaeda in Iraq], despite sharing a name and leadership with the group responsible for the 9/11 attacks, has nothing at all to do with those who ‘planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans.’”

Ed Morrissey;

Now, it doesn’t take a genius to realize that the US now fights al-Qaeda remnants in Iraq, and not Saddam Hussein, who’s been dead for many moons now. His regime collapsed in the first weeks of the American invasion of Iraq in the spring of 2003, more than five years ago. Palin’s comment clearly doesn’t refer to Saddam Hussein or link 9/11 to him.

But, the Left has been unable to accept a year change since September 10, 2001, anyway.

Frankly Opinionated

The Lunatic Liberals know that they have no valid argument against Saracuda; causing them to invent anything negative. For the next 60 or so days, we will be treated to many, many examples of how the facts are not considered in their claims. They are also pissed that Sarahs hairdo style is getting more requests than the hair plugs of bin Biden. They are such a pitiful lot, aren’t they?

The problem is that al qaeda and other jihadists were being trained in Iraq prior to the liberation of Iraq. This is a fact. The scum who blew up the WTC in 1993 was in the country on an Iraqi passport. But this is another in a long line of liberal/static thinking. In a post 9/11 world, Iraq was a real threat to our security. To liberals, you wait until you are shot in the chest, and then you think and ponder why somebody would do that. Then you convene a committee to weigh your options. Then you bleed to death.
