Stolen Valor Selection Committee
It hasn’t been a full year since our last tournament, but we’ve got so much publicity right now about stolen valor that I wanted to get the tournament rolling.
One problem, I am going through our archives, and just from November to March I already have 65 Nominees. So, I am throwing this out there.
I need 5 people to be on the selection committee. You have to have the time available to do this. I will provide you with a spreadsheet (excel) with probably 100 names or more, and links to their perfidy, and I need you to come up with seedings from 1-16 for 64 of them. That means 4 #1’s, 4 #2’s and so forth. If you think you have time, let me know. I want to unveil the tournament on Monday of next week, including the seedings.
If you want to, just comment here with your ACTUAL email address. It won’t be first come first served, it will be the 4 folks that I know have been reliable commenters etc. So please don’t get unhappy if you aren’t picked, it means I probably had memory lapse or something else.
Anyway, who wants in. Seriously, this is not for the feint of heart.

Is it wrong that I am eagerly awaiting this tournament? I enjoy outing/embarrassing them as much as the next guy, but the tournament is purely a humorous activity that doesn’t enrage me like the initial exposure/outing does.
It is a more laid back experience, where I read in the evening while enjoying a beer.
So when is the tournament starting?
Probably next week we will unveil the brackets, with voting to start thereafter.

I would like to participate, but this is my drill weekend.
I will be happy to participate, but since I’m a newbie, if you have someone else in mind, I’ll be equally happy to sit on the sidelines and wait for the next one.
I wish I could do this. As a 4 time Selection Board Member I know how to pick the “best of the fully qualified”. However, this weekend is no good. This is my first summer in 32 years without the Navy and we are travelling!

TSO called to say that he has all of the people he needs for the tourney and he’d tell you himself, but popular guys that we are, he’s off to tape something for Fox News for tomorrow.

Jonn the guy’s name escapes me right now but for sure it has to be the guy that was playing the Marine LtCol in Jacksonville and spoke on Veteran’s Day there.
Last year’s tourney was a blast. I am looking forward to the bracket and seedings.

My favorite time of the year!
I am 100% for doing this. Recently diagnosed with cancer… recovering from surgeries and have chemo treatments. I have plenty of convalescence to spend on something. This could be fun. Background: Captain, Active Army. Voluntarily branch detailed from Infantry (3 years, 15 months combat) to AG (8 months “combat”; AG means I know a shitload about poseurs and awards).

Indeed Hondo, that sound you hear is TSO backing off the seeding committee and handing his reins over to Justin. I will still tabulate individual results and such, but Justin is totally on, and I am honored to have you sir.

P.S. 32 years! I haven’t even been alive that long. Reminds me of a command master chief asked me what year I was born. After I replied he said “(Given year), huh?I made 2nd Class that year.” Sometimes I do feel pretty young.
