The next best thing to phonies

| May 2, 2012

Mary sent us these links to the Third Brigade Star Fleet Marine Corps’ Mutual Masturbation Society. Ya know, what you do with your off time is completely up to you, but you don’t have to put it on the internet;

I’m sure this dickweed earned all of these ribbons, but I think I don’t want to ask him what he got them for;

Are you Army folks still thinking how cool it would be to wear MARPAT after seeing this;

I’m pretty sure that just by it’s name, the Marine Corps is somehow related to large bodies of water, so why would we need a Marine Corps in space? Check out the other pictures at this link.

#85 CombatCAsh – Combat, I am not Scottish, but I wear a kilt with the Army Tartan on it for formal occasions. I wore one with my ACUs in Iraq for some pics, in Ashcanistan for some pics, and I wear it even today when the weather is nice. Why do you have a problem with people wearing a fashion that was begun by another culture?

I dress up as sci-fi characters. How is that bad? I have a Darth Vader costume that cost me $3500. Let me ask you this, when was the last time you delivered presents on Christmas Eve to little kids in a hospital because they were too sick to go home? When was the last time you earned a total of $15,000 for charity in a year? When was the last time you were personally contacted by the Make-A-Wish program to appear for a child as part of their wish?

Oh, I am also a former member of the SCA and have competed in several jousts. Have you? Full speed, lance, shield, the whole shebang. Why? Because it is a thrill. Why do guys strap themselves to a couple tons of hamburger for 8 seconds?

#92 CI – In my hobbie, I have met a playboy bunny in a pleather jump suit and had a pic with her in a rather naughty pose. I have also befriended several Slave Leias (a couple of which are underwear models) and other hot women who don’t mind spandex and hot poses.

Key point on their medals, they actually go out of their way to state all medals used or submitted for their site have to have at least two points of difference between any medals currently or formerly in use by the actual Armed Forces.

I will admit, as a nerd myself, what’s more mind-blowing for me is the sheer scale of attention to detail they put into all of this. That’s scary levels of commitment beyond even the scope of my own dorky pursuits.

Greetings, First off to all that have served and continue to server thanks for serving our country. My name is Jonathan and I am the “Starfleet Marine” in the picture with my son and two friends in digital woodland camouflage. By no means are trying to steal any ones valor! We role play as Starfleet Military Assault Command Operations, M.A.C.O.s that were shown on the ST Enterprise show. We cos-play at SCI-Fi convents as “Starfleet Marines” and do not wear any actual Military devices. What we do is take pilot wings and attach a Starfleet Tie tack over and call it Aerospace Wings. We wear the Digital Woodland with the collar sealed in order to make it look like the ST: Next Gen Uniform from the TV show. If you would like I can supply pictures. I order name tapes from 1-800 Nametape have modeled it based on a mix of a SCI-FI BDU and the real world ACU. I am military historian fanatic and we dress up and preform community Service such as participating in blood drives and recently assisting in in a food drive for victims of Hurricane Sandy. For twelve years I was a member of Starfleet, International Fan Association as a Chapter Commanding Officer, N.C.C. 74502 U.S.S. Iwo Jima, as a “Starfleet Marines”. The Starfleet Marines was a originally a separate independent organization, Starfleet Marines International, that was founding by former members of the United States Military. Who were Star Trek Fans in the late Seventies. SMI, followed a military structure and used Marine ranks and preformed community service. The member devised their own ribbons and devices that were used by schools and was not in use by the United States Military or any other real world military. They were the first to believe idea of not to steal valor. It was around the early eights that SMI and SFI merged and the Starfleet Marines became a sub division and required a person to be a member of SFI in order to “roll play” as a Marine. The ranks and file of SFI and the SFMC… Read more »

Just somne FYI on these guys. They are harmless thats a fact. None of them claim to be real world military, and most instead of spending there off time drinking and partying are out serving their communities through charity work, fund raising and other activities. The ribbons they wear are not real world military they are the ones used by many civilian orginizations for various uses. No real world ribbons are allowed period even for those who have served in the military. There is some use of military insignia all though are modified to a point to make them distinctive from real world ones. Some are not even american insignia to make it even more distinct. Some of the items are JROTC items which any high schooler who takes the class can wear or earn or buy. By the way the ribbons typically are for service to the community, the overall orginization, participation in varuious activites and challenges, academic achievement. And in a few cases for saving a life sometimes at great risk to self. By the way that award is only earned by those who do so not as part of a job but as just any other person. Learn a little more beforeyou criticise.
