The end of the SGM Letuli saga
The above picture is the one that brought down SGM John Letuli (center) who appeared in the photo with fellow sergeant majors after a fallen warrior ceremony in Iraq. Months afterwards, he was called on the carpet, after a 15-6 investigation for wearing a Ranger tab and Special Forces tab that he didn’t earn. Our buddies at Professional Soldiers alerted us to the case just days before my post two years ago. Of course, Letuli had defenders in that post (one of whom we suspect to be Letuli himself), so this post is to satisfy those who were hoodwinked. Even though I know it won’t.
Here’s his 2-1 record of assignments;
His 2-1 record of schooling;
According to the 12 megabyte file I received yesterday, Letuli ended his career as an E-8 with a General Officer Letter of Reprimand in his files and a General Officer Article 15. So that settles that.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be an alarming number of house fires among these phonies
And, of course, good ole’ PTSD complete with bag full of medications.
Definitely won the sympathy card for that one.
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer fraud.
Have to give him credit for having balls, though – pulling that shit that close to Fort Bragg and JFK Center.
But I guess it’s entertaining to see another variant of the “my records were lost/destroyed in the fire” story.
If it’s not house fires, it’s that big fire that destroyed how many records? I think, from the number of idiots being outed, the number of files destroyed were close to the number of books in the Library of Congress… and most of them Special Forces.
I think we need a full investigation into what kind of paper they are using for our records. They must be spontaneously combusting.
In fact, I think this is worth a $25k grant to study the problem and I volunteer myself for the job
Jonn: minor comment on the article: you’re kinda dating yourself. They’re now called General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand (GOMR).
Kinda apropos, actually – since you generally have to be rather a “Gomer” (as in Gomer Pyle) to get one. (smile)
pulling that shit that close to Fort Bragg and JFK Center.
That kinda ranks right up there with Forrest Gump dropping in on a Black Panther Party meeting and starting to drop n-bombs.
It’s not appropriate, and it’s pretty fucking dumb to boot. But at least some measure of justice was served.
F’ing leg POS.
Hahaha GOMR, Hondo, my entire chain of command in Iraq got one of those from the 1st AD commander back in 09-10. Talk about good times lol
What did they do, break up with the COL’s daughter? (inside joke)
Seriously, sounds like something went seriously wrong in your unit. That’s unfortunate; a situation like that is never a good one and is hard on everyone in the unit, including the innocent.
Never received a LOR, but i did get a Letter of Concern once from my BnCdr. She got received for cause shortly thereafter so I assume it wasn’t much of a concern anymore.
received = relieved
Although, she certainly was served.
You know, I got plenty of Counseling Statements, the worse was for smoking the shit out of a Private (when I was a Specialist) who was finger fucking shit on my desk and popped a can of CS. I guess I should have smoked him outside rather than masking and smoking him in the smoke. But this ass-clown only got a letter for claiming to be high speed when he is as high speed as an anchor?
Oh, and Hondo, it all depends on if your buddy sends the right text message. (if I am getting your reference correctly)
Fuck him.
Flagwaver: bullseye. (smile)
