Brace Yourself Folks, the Obamatrons are about to Explode!

Obama got a “bounce” out of his light-bending, LGBT favoring convention but how about this new shocker from Gallup!

WASHINGTON — The Republican National Convention has given John McCain and his party a significant boost, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken over the weekend shows, as running mate Sarah Palin helps close an “enthusiasm gap” that has dogged the GOP all year.

McCain leads Democrat Barack Obama by 50%-46% among registered voters, the Republican’s biggest advantage since January and a turnaround from the USA TODAY poll taken just before the convention opened in St. Paul. Then, he lagged by 7 percentage points.

That’s an eleven point swing among “registered” voters. In a far more relevant group, it is 15 points among “likely” voters!

If other polls due out in the next couple of days validate this one (and they will), the Obama camp will go into full attack mode. They will have no choice; a swing of this magnitude is catastrophic.

If the Obama camp has an October surprise, expect it well before October. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, this swing in polls and particularly in swing states will need to be addressed quickly and secondly, perhaps more importantly, is the Hillary factor.

I can assure you that if a campaign ending bomb is to be found in Obama’s past, Hillary has known about it for some time. Hillary couldn’t politically afford to de-rail Obama openly but his election would kill her chances of ever getting the prize.

This is why Obama has found himself in a two front attack. The McCain camp is throttling him over his weaker than dishwater resume leaving Obama to attack the McCain VP for the same thing and only reinforcing the point that he has no experience. He can’t attack Palin as an insider and she is certainly not a product of the most corrupt political machine in America (which Obama is).

The other problem is Hillary. Her “campaigning” for him has been lukewarm at best and Bill has been nothing less than indignant.

Not selecting Hillary was bad but not even vetting her was a colossal mistake because this takes the Attorney General or Supreme Court promise out of play.

Obama will have to show his hand very soon and Hillary likely holds the cards that McCain doesn’t have to bargain for.

Obama may need to find a “dead woman or live boy” smoking gun to counter this trend.
The next few weeks will be interesting indeed.
