Is THIS Joke Funny?

Okay, so it really ain’t a joke?
Ron Paul: Iran wants to disrupt world oil supply because we are provoking them

There is a video at the link, but here’s a transcript:

How would I deal with the threat or the so-called threat of the Iranians, that they are going to disrupt the oil supply?

Well I’d be provoking them a lot less because they’re reacting to the provoking of the West saying “we’re gonna put on sanctions”. We have them surrounded with nuclear weapons and we’re claiming that they’re gonna build a nuclear weapon and there’s no evidence for this.

So we’re just looking for trouble. We’re building the war propaganda against Iran just as we did against Iraq.

And it’s the march on. You know it’s Libya and it’s in Egypt and now we’re involved in Syria, now we’re sending troops into Africa. And also, of course we’re still in Iraq, we’re into Pakistan and we’ve been in Afghanistan for a long time.

And people want to go to war against Iran. And I think they’re reacting to the provocations of so many other people saying that “we’re liable to bomb you because you are building a nuclear weapon.” But our CIA doesn’t confirm that nor does the UN confirm that.

So they’re acting actually in a rational manner because they’re saying “they’re gonna attack us and start bombing us”. They have to say “well, we don’t have any nuclear weapons, we can’t really defend ourselves. So we might sink a boat, sink a ship out there in the Persian Gulf”, hoping that we might back off.

I just think we’re treating the whole thing wrong. …

“So they’re(Iran) acting actually in a rational manner”. Well, that really does wrap up Ronpaul’s whole schtick when it comes to the U.S. and foreign policy, doesn’t it?

Please tell me why ANYONE with an IQ above room temperature takes this assclown seriously.

You obviously don’t know that Ron Paul sneeked a glance at the iluminati’s secret plan at world domination

I don’t know who worse, fanatic Obama supporter or fanatic Ron Paul supporters! Supporters of both are both naïve to the realities of the real world. Obama and Paul are like a two high school girls that have abusive boyfriends. Obama on one hand wants to talk about feelings and apologize, and Paul on the other, wants to run in his room and lock the door and thinks everything is going to be ok. Neither will do what needs to be done to bring the US from hole we find ourselves in as we lose our grip as being leaders of the Free World. I prefer the high school girl (presidential candidate) who busts out the baseball bat and beats the shit out of her boyfriend for even threatening to lay a hand on her!

Bobo

Actually, in his world, they wouldn’t have been given sanctions in the first place. I’m not sure how the carrot/stick thing works with no carrots and a twig, though.

That’s just about sums up ONE of Ron Paul’s major problems. He considers Iran, (Saddam’s) Iraq, Al Qaeda and the rest to be rational actors with justified grievances. Most people listed to these crackpots and say, “what a nutjob.” Ron Paul listens and says “ok, that sounds legit, we should do what you say.” I wish Rudy was still around to give him another STFU.

How can Texas be such a great place to live and nominate such idiots for national office? Bad news for ya, Ron ol’ buddy- the real world is not strictly reactive and we need to be proactive now and then. When someone overtly hostile looks a lot like they are making nukes, you don’t rationalize. You determine the threat level and act accordingly. I have to agree with 902dMI up above… RonPaul idiots are little different than Obamaniacs. They’re all waterheads who need a little more tinfoil – their hats leak.

My Dad and cousin knew Ron in medical school (I wonder if his nut job, 99% type followers know he went to Duke Medical School?). Anyway, both say good ole “Dr. Ron” was a bit whacky even then. Of course my cousin, his classmate, is also a retired Army Col. and a VMI grad.

As far as the US goes, I know how to mitigate the problem of Iran disrupting our oil.

DRILL DOMESTIC!!!
Cut thru the Gubbment EnviroNazi Red tape and BS.We have more then enough coal, oil & natural gas to last over 100 years, if we were allowed to use it. Leave the children of the desert to play in their sandbox by themselves. And that includes the Saudies, too.

Doc Bailey

Watch Ron tonight. Boy is he kookie. But perhaps the real problem is that he and his supporters are dangerously Naive on Iran. Dear God we would really be screwed if he became president.

11# I concur. I’m sure a Paulite will be around shortly to correct us.

Nah, the KoolAid takes a while to wear off.

Ronulans always leave me a bit puzzled. When I encounter one its like meeting a pretty girl that speaks well and then tells you the toaster told her to buy guacamole dip today. You swing from feeling like she’s very interesting to looking for the exits. Remember, when they say “Dr Paul” you know you have a true believer on your hands so be careful.

He’s consistant in his strict libertarian views for both national and international things. But as several above have put it, the national policies are (to an extent) rational and make sense for a rational population with a western cultural background. Alas for the Paulians and their leader, “rational” for Al Quaeda, Iran, et al is very, very different from what Paul and Co. think it is. he makes the same mistake as the other end of the political spectrum – he doesn’t take the mullahs at their word.

As usual, Paul is acting batshit crazy. The Iranians feel threatened by everyone, but they aren’t particularly worried about America as long as we have Halfrican in the white house. Same deal as when Jackoff Jimmah was in there. They don’t think we would do anything.

Arabs respect nothing but brute violence. Anything less and they are not going to pay attention. Why else would Iran be making all this noise. They were very quiet on the whole when Bush was president, because they thought he was a cowboy. They made no efforts to piss us off. That is what they are doing here, simply antagonizing us because it pisses us off, and they know damned well that we will do nothing to them. They count on that.

Old Trooper

What Paul and his Ronulan supporters don’t understand is this: Like nuclear weapons, once the genie of globalization got out of the bottle, you can’t just wish it back in. We tried the isolationist mantra twice (arguably 3 times if you include the Carter years) in the last century with devastating effects to both us and the world in general. After WWII, we had to take a different approach, because like it or not, the world had changed. It doesn’t matter if you agreed with the Korean War or Vietnam War. Whether you were vigilant during the Cold War, or didn’t think the Ruskies were all that bad. The facts aren’t in dispute, but rather the dispute comes in the form of those in denial versus those that don’t take lightly the real threats to our security and the security and stability of other regions around the world that have real effects on us. The Ronulans want to stick their collective heads in the sand and, like a child, believe that as long as they have their eyes closed, nothing bad can happen. I wasn’t for the Iraq War, but once the case was made and the shooting started, I supported the troops and their mission. There have been many discussions and disagreements about whether Saddam was a threat. I believe he was still a threat to his neighbors and his own citizens (proven time and again by the atrocities that he, his sons, and his regime committed against the people of Iraq) and he still had the ability to destabilize the region, I just didn’t agree on the timing of the operation (as well as various other things associated with it), but that doesn’t make me anti-war and it doesn’t make me an isolationist. Iran has the ability to be a destabilizing force in the region. Burying our head in the sand or denying they are a threat doesn’t make it any less so. Do I believe we need to attack Iran? No, I don’t, and I wouldn’t be in favor of doing so. I do believe that we… Read more »

“they know damned well that we will do nothing to them”. Well, it’s easy for the mullahs, they have the Jimmy Carter playbook, and the update, the Obama playbook.

@Old Trooper. VERY nicely written. I will say this (not a response to Trooper, just wanted to give you props before I wrote this), Ron Paul may be (is) lacking in regards to his assessment of Iran. That being said, the man truly does stand against a threat greater than Iran (unless they actually drop a nuke, which they won’t). The things that Ron Paul really stands for, he doesn’t discuss in interviews, but his supporters are well aware of. I’m SURE everyone here rolls their eyes at the mention of shadow-governments, especially the ever elusive “Illuminati”. But, as BRIC, the EU, and China’s (and recently many others) call for a one-world currency, there is indeed a plan in action to centralize the world powers. This group, whatever it is called, is the single greatest threat to humanity.
