It was a week ago that Iraq veteran, IVAW and Veterans for Peace member, Scott Olsen was somehow injured while police cleared out a hippie uprising in Oakland. Speculation has run wild in the vacuum of information about that incident. Gordon Duff speculated that Olsen was shot with a 40mm grenade lancher, but that doesn’t seem to bear out, according to the SF Gate;
The San Francisco Sheriff’s Department was one of more than a dozen law enforcement agencies helping Oakland police on the streets Tuesday night. Eileen Hirst, a spokeswoman for the agency, said the 37 deputies who were in Oakland did not carry tear gas, concussive grenades or any other type of explosive canisters.
Hirst said one or two officers had Arwens, guns made by Police Ordnance Co. Inc. of Markham, Ontario, that fire cylinders meant to stun suspects and force them to comply. However, those weapons were not fired Tuesday night, she said.
Oddly enough, after the hippies have singled out a deputy as the person who injured Olsen, again with no evidence, after plastering pictures of Olsen across the internet as he lay bleeding, they’ve suddenly clammed up about Olsen’s injuries;
Olsen continued to recover at Oakland’s Highland Hospital on Monday. His roommate, Keith Shannon, said he visited his friend on Sunday but was not allowed to discuss his condition.
“He’s doing better,” Shannon said.
Adirondack Patriot, who sent us the SF Gate link speculates that maybe the doctors have found evidence that the injury wasn’t a result of police action, which would explain why no one is talking about Olsen’s condition.
I wouldn’t be so suspicious of the Left if they had been this vocal about the Guerena murder in Pima County, AZ and this quick to judge Sheriff Dupnik’s deputies.

I went over and posted some of this stuff last week on Foreign Policy – Tom Ricks’ blog, best Defense. I was immediately attacked. He seems to collect every left wing mil dog on the planet. Nobody can believe that this guy is possibly full of sh$t. Keep digging. I’d like to gloat over there.

Could it be something as simple as getting hit in the head accidentally by a rock thrown by a fellow hippie? Lord knows, hippies are always the last ones picked in sand-lot baseball games…and the ones that are usually end up as catchers cause they aren’t expected to be able to throw the ball too far or accurately.
Meanwhile, VFP apparently now believes we WERE fighting in Iraq to protect America. Or maybe just Scott Olsen was:

I am not going to hold my breath waiting for the “inside job” theory to pan out. A quick Wikipedia search shows that the ARWEN also has a tear gas round. Occam’s razor still points toward a cop wearing a gas mask firing off a short round from an unfamiliar weapon.
Still, I would still like to see Olsen’s DD214 and chapter paperwork. Seems only fair considering OWS’s propensity to releasing private information about cops.
Another piece of the puzzle. Olsen was “unresponsive” but still able to text.

The more of this story that comes out, the more I firmly believe that the acting lessons displayed by the protesters came from code pinko.
What I’m unable to determine from the video is what caused Olsen to go down in the first place. He was standing at attention for along time with the IVAW sailor waving a flag in front of him. Then, for no apparent reason, Olsen is lying on the pavement. He was wearing a boonie when he was apparently injured. The next day, his friend was depicted in the Guardian Newspaper with the boonie and there was no blood on it. Strange. Furthermore, I have seen the photo of Olsen immediately after the injury allegedly occurred. There is no “raccooning” around the eyes. The only thing of note is the blood, which occurs even with the smallest of lacerations on the head. In pro-wrestling, the smallest razor cut to the forehead produces a dramatic amount of blood disproportionate to the degree of actual injury As far as his “critical” status, by protocol, the hospital was going to treat him as a critical patient because of his claimed impairment — namely lost or slurred speech — not based on any objective assessment. The OWS and IVAW all told the media that he was going to need brain surgery. That never happened and it appears it is not going to happen since brain swelling needs to be mitigated in the first hours of traumatic brain injury. It has been days since the injury and there has been no surgery. Oddly, after the objective assessment was conducted (x-rays, cat scan), he was quickly upgraded to fair condition the following day. Today, the only symptom that appears to be keeping hospitalized is his inability to speak or write — both symptoms that can be voluntarily controlled or faked by the patient. Like AP said, I can’t find anything in the video that would explain Olsen dropping like a bag of cement, other than the cue from the “director” of the video. And, functionally impaired, but he’s texting? Really?
I doubt that anyone in possession of a weapon capable of launching a projectile was in the front row, consequently, I doubt that the cop employing such a weapon fired between the officers standing shoulder to shoulder in front of him/her.

The whole event strikes me as well planned PSYOP operation.
1) Bait the police to induce a desired response.
2) Get ahead of the information stream and get your story out first
3) Ignore/bury counter response
