There should have been a hanky alert with this as well. I have seen this before and still cried – both times I saw it today. Do you think Mr. Gundy needs any adopted grandkids? That guy is just cool.

When the Collins Foundation brought their B17 to our town, I took my Dad out to the airport. As he was a Bombardier in a total of three B17’s(the other two getting too shot up and down to fly again), I figured he would enjoy seeing the old bird again.
While he did have a grand time walking around the aircraft and reminiscing about his combat time with other Army Air Corps vets, when he was invited by the crew to climb inside he gruffly refused, saying that he ..”spent far too much time in the God-damn thing getting shot at, why the hell would I want to get back in there?”
Loved my Pop!

Glad to see that he received his Black Hat award and his shooting experience while he was still alive to enjoy these things. Good memories to warm an old set of bones in the evening.
