That contrast thing

Yesterday, more than 70 US troops were wounded in what can only be described as a terrorist-style attack at Combat Outpost Sayed Abad in Wardak province. the attack happened on the tenth anniversary of the attack on our own soil which launched military forces to Afghanistan in the first place. Fox News reports;

ust hours before the bombing, the Taliban vowed to keep fighting U.S. forces in Afghanistan until all American troops leave the country. The insurgent movement also stressed that it had no role in the Sept. 11 attacks.

A Taliban suicide bomber carried out Saturday’s attack by detonating a large bomb inside a truck carrying firewood, NATO said Sunday. It was unclear how many foreign and Afghan soldiers were serving on the base.

“Most of the force of the explosion was absorbed by the protective barrier at the outpost entrance,” NATO said, adding that the damage was repairable and that operations were continuing.

NATO said none of the 77 injuries sustained by the Americans was life-threatening. Spokesman Maj. Russell Fox said Sunday that all the international troops at the combat outpost are American.

It’s one of the largest terrorist-style attacks that I’ve read about on American troops by the Taliban, but you know it’s not what they want to do. They’d rather kill scores of innocent Americans instead of members of our own armed forces. If our troops weren’t keeping them occupied over there and if law enforcement here in this country didn’t have the tools they have now, any old scumbag off the street would be building bombs and having their way with us.

I know this nothing new for regular readers, but it needs to be said somewhere on the internet for the intentionally ignorant and intellectually vacant.

“The insurgent movement also stressed that it had no role in the Sept. 11 attacks.”

That’s true, however, the taliban was in charge of the country, back then, and they refused to give up Bin Laden, so we went in and removed the obstacle that was protecting those that did have a role in the Sept. 11th attacks.

“If our troops weren’t keeping them occupied over there….”

This implies that the QST harbors realistic desires to attack overseas targets. Quite contrary to their stated goals and our strategic analysis.
