So how is that PAC working out for you, VFW?

| August 30, 2011

You probably remember the the dust-up we caused in the last election cycle over the VFW PAC which endorsed mostly incumbent Democrats in Congress. the VFW’s excuse was that it bought us veterans more access to the ruling party. Well, VFW, how’s that working out for you?

According to Fox News, the Obama Administration blew them off this year;

The Veterans of Foreign Wars convention this week will not feature a top-tier official from the Obama administration, a breach in tradition that the group’s commander described as an “insult of the highest magnitude.”

However, an administration official claimed Monday that the White House made “every effort” to provide a speaker for the event, offering up a range of top officials.

Yeah, “top tier” – Susan Rice, the UN ambassador. So I guess those endorsements have really paid off for the VFW. The American Legion has no PAC and that’s where the President is making his appearance. So what’s Joe Biden doing that he can’t make it to the VFW Convention in San Antonio? Not much according to his schedule this week.

So that’s what members are getting for their PAC. I hope the VFW does the right thing and trash their PAC during this convention like they promised us last year.

That’s why I like the AL, we’re non-political in that we don’t choose sides, we choose the Veteran’s side (and America). Leave all the politics to the VFW and AMVETS.

OT, sure wish they would apply that logic here in southern Hellinois.

VFW announced last year that the VFW PAC had been dissolved.

This is just payback for members keeping a representative committee accountable to the members. That kind of thing can be catching, as AARP and a number of other DNC money groups found out.

With Eid-ul-Fietr upon us, wonder when The One will send out his usual pro-Islam message?

“With Eid-ul-Fietr upon us, wonder when The One will send out his usual pro-Islam message?”

Should be soon, the same tenor of message sent out each year by Bush.

I agree with the sentiment above…veteran organizations should advocate for veterans and not political party.

Problem is, DaveO, is that they couldn’t make it official until the bylaws had been amended at the next (read this week’s) convention.

Spigot

A perfect example why I have never had any interest in joining the VFW.

This…and the fact that they invited Slick Willie to address their national convention while he was still POTUS.

WTF…an organization of men and women who served in harms way…in combat…and you invite a guy who dodged the draft while smoking dope, drinking bitter, and shagging birds while at Oxford?

No thanks…

#5 Sparky – thanks for the clarification.

Caveat: I’m a Life Member of the VFW (and the DAV), and an annual member of The Legion.

There is something to be said for adapting that is NOT trivial.

When I look at a list of those speaking at the AL convention I am NOT sanguine.

Spooky… The inverse has some merit. Why invite someone (Al Franken) that anyone with half a brain (mine) would dismiss?

Miss Ladybug

Isn’t Franken from Minnesota?

Miss Ladybug: He is, but we don’t claim him.
