Sometimes There Is THAT Thing…
The family opted for privacy (bless them) but others in my old stomping grounds have decided to be pro-active.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician Chief Petty Officer (Expeditionary Warfare Specialist/Freefall Parachutist/Diver) Nicholas H. Null, 30, of Washington, W.Va. WILL have a memorial event.
A member of DEVGRU lost in the chopper crash in A’Stan for those who don’t know.
The details are still in flux, but the hillbillies are working it out.

Ummm, can you clarify please, Pons? Is this memorial with the family’s blessing?
I got this as a response, K:

#1 and #2:
Not sure what requires clarification? This thing has only just gotten underway. I don’t personally know the principals involved, yet.
I heard about it via a friend over there who is an active vet supporter.
Pon’s I was asking if the family is ok with other folks hosting a large memorial event.
The way your post reads, it says, “The family opted for privacy…” but, regardless, we “WILL have a memorial event.”
I was trying to delicately ask if the organizers had taken it upon themselves to over-ride the family’s wish for privacy and host a huge event anyway.
But from #2’s post it sounds like they are at least in the loop.
The family is involved, to the extent that the event had to be rescheduled from its original date due to members of the family not being available to take part. This has been a tremendous community effort that will have a positive effect in light of horrible tragedy.
