DoD to certify end of DADT

| July 22, 2011

Tman and Jeff Schogol sent us links to the report that the new Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, is ready to certify that DoD is ready to end the 17 year old Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy established by the Clinton Administration it’s first year in office (Stars & Stripes link);

The certification comes after months of training for military personnel to prepare them for the presence of openly gay uniformed colleagues for the first time in history, and starts the 60-day waiting period before the law is completely removed.

Under rules outlined by Congress in December, the president, defense secretary and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff were required to certify that the services are ready for the dramatic personnel change before the law could be repealed.

Pentagon officials last week said that the service chiefs had submitted their reports on training and readiness to new Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who had stated that repeal could take place in late July or early August.

So all of you recruiters get ready for the flood of new recruits – those legions of patriotic gays who have been waiting anxiously for the policy to be repealed so they can slug through the mud and deserts for their country. I’ll bet the line will stretch around the block. All of the military’s recruiting issues will be solved, and you recruiters will be making mission for years thanks to the end of this policy.

This may also mean that men in the Army will be allowed to carry umbrellas while in uniform finally.

I can see the sarcasm dripping from your post, Jonn, but what you forgot to remind everyone is that now there will be a whole new set of priorities that the gay community will want to go with their open service, which will include, protected status and a mile long line of complaints and accusations of held up promotions, etc. You can bet that within the first quarter after DADT is gone that there will be a complaint filed for discrimination because some jackwagon didn’t get their promotion, not because they are a piss-poor soldier, but because, as they will claim, they are gay and the promotion board is full of homo-hatin’, knuckle-draggin’ neanderthals.

Guess this is gonna put a whole new spin out of, “Get the sand out of your vagina”…

And yeah, here comes the flood of, “You didn’t promote/etc me because I like dicks!” Then so many years down the road, they’ll make a huge deal about the first gay/lesbian general officer or MCPON/CSMA/etc…

Congrats, Leon–you finally got to gut the military, which you’ve been trying to do for so many years. Guy can’t fix a motor generator set without crying about breaking a nail, but damned if they don’t suck a mean dick!

I can already see every T.I./D.S./D.I. being sent to MEO for being “prejudice” or making a remark to a trainee. Then once they get to their first base half the base as well just for saying something politically incorrect. Nobody cared before hand and now I have to walk on egg shells just so I can stay in…I thought this was the military now day camp.

Along with the above, don’t forget ‘gay military appreciation’ day, which may, frightfully, follow along the likes of the kinds of “parades” and shenanigans witnessed in places like san fran.

So much for being quiet and professional about things.

Forget about the boost in recruiting. Just think about how our enemies will crouch in fear knowing that America’s military now includes homosexuals.

I can just see it. America faces a dautng national crisis from the latest global despot or terrorist. Americans are waiting for action, and Obama obliges. He glares into the teleprompter and utters those words that will live in infamy: “Don’t call my bluff. I have gay soldiers and I’m not afraid to use them.”

As someone who has been a commander of a recruiting company, I can tell you that, regardless of the hype, a large portion of those who truly want to serve, for whatever reason, are not qualified. If only 25% of all males aged 17-24 (primary demographic) are even medically, morally, physically, and mentally qualified anyway, letting gays in will maybe account for an additional 20-30 entrants/year. Those who love to tout the line about “over 19,000 have been discharged under DADT”. If you take that number between 1993 and 2010, that’s 19,000 over 19 years, or an average of 1,000/year. That’s FAR less than the number of recruits who never make it to basic. While I was in USAREC, the total Army Mission was about 68,000 over the course of the recruiting year. (The recruiting month goes from about the 13th of the previous month to the 12th of the current month) USAREC assumed a 10% net loss of Future Soldiers. That means that they expected a total of 68,000 Soldiers to ship to basic and assess AFTER DEP LOSS. That means that, out of about 75,000+ Gross Contracts, over 7,500 would not ship. PER YEAR. In a sense, per year, the number of Soldiers chaptered under DADT is less than 15% of the total number of DEP losses in the ARMY.

Just cause their ending it there still don’t mean we can’t call ’em *pansies* here does it?

It’s interesting that nobody chimed in on the story of the gay guy who saved himself from a beat down in DC by faking having a gun. The guy was a staunch advocate of the 2nd Amendment. I guess you didn’t want to catch yourselves praising a *pansy*.

Yes streetsweeper and you can also continue using “cause” for “because” and “their” for “they’re” to show how you are clearly superior to any homosexual who might happen to serve in uniform and also know how to spell and use the English language above a third grade level.

ROS

I’m almost certain they also instruct on the usage of commas in the 3rd grade, Klompus……

Lose the condescending and confrontational attitude and you’ll go a lot further.

You bet, watch the grammar and not the message.

Jonn, as an aside I thought umbrellas could now be carried. I thought I read, that they had to be black and carried only in the left hand. I admit I could be wrong though.

6# Yep agree. There are not that many gays in the general population, nevermind the military. Those discharged for just adultery far out number those for being gay and we don’t plan on changing that policy do we? Nevermind some of the other practical considerations everyone just papers over.

Cedo Alteram

8# Thats because that story was mentioned two days ago bitch.

Todd

I’m so sorry. I just never realized how difficult your lives must have been, you poor put-upon white, heterosexual males. The injustices you must surely have suffered because you were born this way; the endless amount of promotions and access that have been denied you; the tax-breaks you’ve received because you’ve chosen to marry the one you loved; the recognition of holidays and other accomodations made to you because of the religions you’ve chosen for yourselves…bless your hearts, all of you. What a bunch of whining little girls. You’ve shamed the uniform you supposedly wore and the cause for which you fought (though I suspect that the majority of you were long gone from service before it ever got dangerous).

PintoNag

Todd, just fair warning…
If these folks are in the mood, you are going to get seriously dog-piled.

Enjoy.
