Karzai: US negotiating with Taliban

| June 18, 2011

Back in November of 2009, the blogs reported that the US embassy in Kabul, run by that dick, Karl Eikenberry, was negotiating with the Taliban to end the war in Afghanistan. On that same thread, some PAO bint named Caitlin Hayden from the embassy came on this blog to tell us that we were wrong. Well. today, Afghan President Hamid Karzai told Reuters that the US is involved with negotiations with the Taliban;

Diplomats have said there have been preliminary talks between the two sides for months, and Karzai has said Afghans are in contact with insurgent groups.

“Peace talks are going on with the Taliban. The foreign military and especially the United States itself is going ahead with these negotiations,” Karzai was quoted as saying in the Reuters article.

The U.S. Embassy in Kabul declined immediate comment.

So will Caitlin come back to scold us again today? Stay tuned.

There was a report from early 2009 of Medea Benjamin being the ambassador FROM Mullah Omar. A sanctioned go-between.

That Karzai is saying something now means one of of relatives, or a money-making scheme (but I’m being redundant) has been given over to the Taliban.

This isn’t new though. We’ve been talking off and on again for years. The problem is the enemy thinks its winning with our withdrawal date, they just plan on waiting us out.

A secondary issue is that most of our success has been in the south against Mullah Omar’s Quetta Shura. RC East is collapsing. There are now attacks being launched into Pakistan from Nuristan and Kunar Provinces. We’ve lost ground to AL Qaeda, the Haqqani network, and HIG. Who are by the far the deadliest and best trained fighters. Even LeT, the terrort organisation responsible for Bombay bombings and based in Kashmere, has made an appearence in the east. We have no strategy there!
