Vet arrested for threatening the President
Old Trooper sends a link to article in The Smoking Gun about the Secret Service arresting a 77-year-old veteran from South Carolina for threatening to shoot the President to his nurse at the local VA
…“[Michael Bowden] was thinking of traveling to Washington, DC, to shoot the President (Obama) because he is not doing enough to help African Americans,”…
During a search of Bowden’s home, the investigating agent found 3 handguns and a rifle and a shotgun by the door. Lightweight.
But they recommended him for prosecution according to the affidavit submitted by the Secret Service agent. I’m pretty sure Bowden had no serious intentions toward accomplishing his dastardly deed.
I’m glad they investigated him, but do they really think it’s possible for him to even travel to DC and get within range of the President? It sounds to me like he has some problems, otherwise why he spout off like that to a nurse and later to the Secret Service?

There are a LOT of people that think like Mr. Bowden. They just don’t tell the “wrong” people and probably would never act on it anyways.
Why don’t they just see what it is that he needs, and what problems he has that might easily be addressed?

The Secret Service may have arrested him to get him an involuntary admission to a psychiatric hospital for a comprehensive evaluation, not because he posed any real threat to the president. I doubt he’ll ever see prison.
He may see prison. Remember that WWII Vet that shot up the Holocaust museum and the hay they made about that old bigot being a Vet.
The old man did the threatening at our local VA clinic in Spartanburg, SC. He’s actually from Woodruff, SC. Fox news said he was from NC. His crap about Obama not doing enough for the blacks should have been a dead giveaway that the old scudder wasn’t hittin’ on all cylinders. Jeez, I’m 74 but have enough sense not to say something like that in a scenario like a government building for cryin’ out loud.
