My peek into the Ron Paul Revolution

At the risk of attracting trolls, I thought I’d give my regular readers a look into my alter ego this week as a Ron Paul Revolutionary. It was completely inadvertent at first, but I decided to just go along. It began with the post I did on Saturday about the Ron Paul march and it mostly happened on YouTube and Flickr where I have accounts to support this blog.
I’ve never had a video get so many YouTube-bestowed “honors” – the video has had over 20,000 views;
#15 – Most Discussed (This Week) – News & Politics
#21 – Most Responded (This Week) – News & Politics
#60 – Most Responded (This Month) – News & Politics

I’ve never had so many “Friend” requests, I’ve had production companies email and ask to use the sweat-covered video. The only “Friend” I’ve ever had on Flickr was Skye, but I have six requests awaiting approval (how they found my Flickr account, I’ll never know). I think that’s why the movement is so popular – they embrace any whacko and lunatic (I include myself in that number). I’ll admit that it’s almost intoxicating. Well, until you take a look at these people.
What I learned was that they’ve convinced themselves that everyone is out to get them and stop their “revolution”. Even YouTube, apparently.
Everytime I try to watch the video won’t load.
It must be good Youtube is preventing me from viewing it or censureing it. Commie agenda?
LOL youtube is sooo messing with the views on this video. thats sick, and sad.
For awhile the view count on my video got stuck at 810 views and it touched off a flurry of comments to prove that YouTube was conspiring against them;

STILL at 810, 9pm EST.
Of course, that wasn’t the extent of it. YouTube was deleting their comments. Not really, as I scrolled back I found the comments they left – they were just too lazy to really look – it was easier to imagine a conspiracy.
I left a comment on here yesterday and it’s been deleted for some reason.
Comments are being deleted on this video. Who and why?
Campaign For Freedom
RundoeTXWhat the, I left a bunch of comments a while ago and they’re all gone. Now I’ve had this problem before, but since a bunch of people are reporting it, it would suggest that this account may have been hijacked.
Ron Paul didn’t lose the primaries – it was…you guessed it – a conspiracy;
You know not of which you speak… RON PAUL DID NOT LOSE ALL OF THE PRIMARIES.. AND ITS A FACT THE VOTE COUNT WAS “MANIPULATED” TO SAY THE VERY LEAST.. IF ANY OF YOU THINK OUR VOTING SYSTEM IS EVEN REMOTELY FAIR AND ACCURATE..ha ha ha the joke is on you…
@Acttion…
The reason RP didn’t win was Media block out and voter fraud, wake up!Its the mainstream media that sabotaged
his campaign. But here on the internet we
know whos the real deal. But were not big enough yet for they wont allow this to reach the masses thru television.The Republican Party and officials are afraid Ron will blow their cover, and they’ll all end up on the unemployment line with the folks whose jobs they’ve helped ship overseas to China and India.
The corporate controlled media refuses to acknowledge Ron Paul because a guy like Ron threatens corporate control of our current government.
We shall only overcome if we rise up in the manner of Dr. King, Rosa Parks and Ghandi.
It’s time to turn up the volume, People.
Ron Paul was the best candidate for presidency, but this is America… 🙁
Some people had it all figured out;
The reason why Ron Paul didn’t win is because people still have not felt enough pain to want to get off their collective asses and do somthing about it. There were 10,000 people at this march and I applaud their willingness to take the time and show support. But on the same day there were over 50,000 people at the free Bon Jovi concert in Central Park. How can people care more about free music than to want to save their country from tyranny? Maybe America really is “Living on a Prayer.”
The media tells you who your only two candidate choices are, and 70% of Americans fall for it every election. More of the same stereotypical Democrats and Republicans in office will get you more of the same failure, and less of the Constitution to protect you from their corrupt ways. We need a Constitutionalist like Ron Paul in the White House; end of story.
I dont care, I’m STILL going to write in Ron Paul’s name on my ballot. Then when these scum get thousands of write ins at least they will know where we REAL American’s stand
We’re going to have to take to the streets in larger numbers. We need to descend on the Republican and Democrat National Conventions where the media will not be able to ignore our presence.
We have to confront our current representatives in government to demand campaign reform and fair/honest election procedures. Then become election judges and poll watchers.
Let’s do the world a favor and crucify O Reily, Hannity, Olberman, and Limbaugh instead.
Sorry kids, your energy is misdirected. Yes this candidate’s ideology is best we’ve seen in decades. However, the change we so desire is in out own hands. The books are rigged, the corruption so deep he would never stand a chance even if some freak chance he was elected. Your energy must be directed towards civil disobedience NOW. STOP all voluntary funding of a broken and unfair tax system. Claim 10 dependents on your payroll. TURN OFF TV, turn in your digital boxes. boycott gas just one day..
Finally … someone that gets it!
We need to put this guy and his staff in one of our foreign prisons for a long, long time. I want my habeus corpus back!
Of course, Ron Paul is indomitable;
you’re a fool if you waste your time and vote on Barr, Barack, or Nader…plus how are you so sure you wont see Ron Paul’s name somewhere on the ballot? He’s still got a few tricks up his sleeve, he just has to wait until Sept.
Ron Paul is Jesus Christ….i truly believe this…..read the bible and you will see that all of the predictions of what is in Revelations Israel and doomsday are all coming true and the only one that is going to change the course of human history is Ron Paul
But the conspiracy goes deeper than just just stopping Ron Paul;
Has anyone heard that the United States is actually a corporation? Youtube Jordan Maxwell. This was news to me but apparently our Birth Certificates “legally” created your name (IN FULL CAPS) to represent you as a corporation/franchise of the US. The taxes we pay go the Queen of England. Look this us. spread the word.
i was searching for media coverage of this event all day and there was none. i wonder what other information they kept from me all along!
Don’t let your kids drink tap water! Fluoride is very harmful to infants and a fetus! Fluoride is the number one poison in RAT KILLER.
Look up the following on youtube…

Spread the word about all of this and the
RON PAUL REVOLUTIONHelp spread truth to the sheeple 😀
See, if you put a smiley face after an insulting phrase, that makes it OK.
They didn’t bother to use smiley faces for their comments about the troops;
They’re not “our” troops. They fight for and take orders from the world’s latest war criminal: George Bush.
When Bush’s soldiers take off their Redcoats and start defending the Constitution, the real Revolution will begin.
yet, the ignorant keep signing up to be pigs and ‘soldiers’/mercenaries…
Then there was exchange about impeachment;
I like Ron Paul but Ron pissed me off when he did not vote with Kucinich to impeach Bush. Does anyone know why Ron refused to impeach Bush?
Yea, Because Ron Paul hates to spend the taxpayers money on useless crap. Bush will be out of office in less than 6 months. By the time it takes to get impeachment rolling and testimony and committees, Bush and Cheney will be long gone. I say lets start impeachment preceedings for McCain right now.
A common excuse for not attending the opening salvo of the next revolution and stopping the New World Order in it’s tracks was the cost;
if only i had enough $ to go to this and meet ppl like minded. i didn’t and the nwo is an brilliant work of evil constructed to stop peons like me. justice will be rewarded in the end for all who stood for liberty or tyranny!
I think my favorite guy was this one;
Just an idea, why can’t we (the people) all raise donation for a statue of Dr. Ron Paul holding the Constitution facing the Capitol Building? The statue would symbolize the important of the Constitution and to remind all of our current & future representatives that they should not forget to serve and protect the Constitution of this Great Nation.
It took the Paulians three months to raise the $30,000 for this rally, most couldn’t afford to pay for gas to get to DC, yet they’re going to build a statue and go through all of the paperwork and organization it takes to put something on Mall? Yeah, good luck with that.
A Ron Paul PAC emailed and asked to use my photos on Flickr;
Hi there. I was wondering if we could clear using some of
your amazing photos from the Ron Paul DC March from July
12. My PAC is in the pro-production stage of creating a
high end documentary on RP’s 2008 campaign, and you have
some really nice shots that could help the production.Regards,

When I said thanks but no thanks, that I don’t in anyway shape or form support Ron Paul or furthering their delusional endorsement of his campaign and draining people of their hard-earned money, my pictures weren’t worth it anymore;
:: Re: Rights to photos
Yeah, how delusional to think we should follow the
Constitution, and expect accountability when a treasonous
government lies and steals. What a crazy idea…..It’s amazing how one person’s delusion is another’s truth.
And vice versa.No worries though. We’ll get photos from someone else.
Chris
They’ve embraced all of the things that are not Conservative, but the myths that the Left have created about Conservatism. They welcome racists, they call for the eradication of every institution that keeps modern society running – they even call for a return to gold coins instead of paper money. You can’t argue with them because they are anti-intellectual and they move the argument from subject to subject every time you prove them wrong. They are REAL xenophobes, not the fake kind like the volunteers monitoring the border. They are REAL Luddites who want to turn back the clock to the 19th century.
Like I said in the earlier post, they complain about politicians, but they trust Ron Paul implicitly. And they don’t see a problem.

Awesome.
I don’t think these people understand that only one Messiah is authorized to run for President at a time.
Woo boy! Here it comes now. ALL HANDS BRACE FOR MOONBATS!
So many portents, so many prophets. First, the Goracle. Then Ronulus of Paulia. Now the Obamamessiah. We are either seeing the foretaste of the apocalypse, or preparing for a new Holy War. We didn’t even have to import any pedophile death cultists to set the stage.
But, at least I saw more AMERICAN flags with the Paulians, as opposed to the leftie love of Palestinian/Cuban/[insert any other communist country here] flags.
As always Jonn, you are Prince among men to willingly risk your sanity for the sake of informing the rest of us. I, on the other hand, would have delegated this high-risk-of-infection mission to TSO.
As a non-voting Paul supporter who has defended him before, I will tell you I enjoyed reading Jonn’s take on last week’s revolution march. Your wrap-up post covering last week’s march was one of the best you’ve done.
Correct me if I’m wrong, Jonn, but your problems are with Paul’s supporters, not Paul himself. I don’t understand why you continually highlight Paul’s fringe supporters – individuals Paul himself has distanced himself from – as though they are a reflection of the Congressman.
If you are attempting to establish Paul’s illegitimacy by using the guilt by association tactic, that’s a very slippery slope. An argument is effective only when it is consistently applied, and surely there’s plenty of events/people/etc. you are associated with that have shady characters connected to them. For example, only a fool would label every military member puppy-throwing, murdering rapists because we’ve seen a few stories emerge from Iraq demonstrating the military’s worst behavior.
I attended portions of the revolution march. Overall, your coverage was quite good. Let’s be honest, though: what you’re doing is editorializing, not journalism. There’s a big difference. The second to last paragraph in the above post underscores that reality.
Jonn wrote: Thank you for your compliments, however I don’t think I’ve ever said this was journalism, have I? It is what it is. I focus on the “fringe” supporters, as you call them, because that’s all I see at these events, and those are the only people supporting him on the internet. If there are “non-fringe” supporters, I don’t see them.
True, you never outright claimed to be covering the events as a journalist. I read too much into that statement.
Are fringe supporters all you see, or are fringe supporters what you’re looking for? I’m not trying to be confrontational, but I think there’s a big difference. As I said, I attended portions of march…and we observed different things. I’d estimate the fringe contingency to be about 10% of the total, but I’m certain we have different definitions for fringe supporters.
My critique is rooted in the linkage between IVAW, Code Pink, etc. and Paul. Surely Paul cannot be responsible for the behavior/beliefs of all his supporters…that’d be impossible! The bottom line is, we all have associations that could be termed fringe by one measure or another. In light of that fact, the argument against Paul’s politics/beliefs/policies is very thin.
In the same way that I am hoping Obama wins so that he has the chance to disappoint the Dems, I am glad the “Ronbots” had their hopes dashed too. Hopefully they have realized that they can’t change anything within our current State framework. Instead of writing in Paul on the ballot the best thing they could do is unregister.
Eddie- did you see the racists? They were welcomed right? What percentage of them were wearing swastikas?
Jesse Helms probably would have voted for McCain so I guess he welcomes racists too.
And Obama has Jesse Jackson and Rev Wright… right?
Rooney – I hope you are being sarcastic.
The purpose of the march was to show support for Ron Paul and his beliefs, not to promote bigotry. If Paul supporters happen to wear swastikas it should in no way reflect on Paul’s beliefs.
Similarly, I see nothing wrong with Rev Wright’s comments or McCain’s “gook” comments. Sure, they were rooted in bigotry, but is bigotry a crime? Racism is a personal problem, a disease of the mind – it cannot be eliminated by government mandate, rules, affirmative action, civil rights acts, etc.
Jonn wrote: Rooney was indeed being sarcastic. But the whole point of this piece was that all Ron Paul supporters are on the fringe of the rest of us. You’re defending the movement by pointing to the fringe of your fringe, but the truth is; we’re never going to get rid of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, we’re never going to return to gold coinage, we’re never going to kick out the brown people, we’re never going to draw our military down and do away with the FBI and CIA. There’s always going to be an IRS in some shape or manner. That’s just the truth. We aren’t a 19th century agrarian society that lives in far-flung corners of a vast un-navigable wilderness. I know that’s hard to believe looking at the world from your basement window, but that’s the way it is.
Eddie- yes that was sarcasm. Just trying to show that racist supporters are not unique to any one candidate.
Jonn, believe me, I fully understand your position. But saying “We’re never going…” to any new ideas is, at the very least, a tacit endorsement of the status quo.
And what has that status quo brought us? Based on the general mood of your posts, you are frustrated by a lot of things – and rightly lay the blame at the foot of government (usually Democrats). The sole purpose of government is to justify its existence and to expand based on what it can take (at gunpoint) from its citizens. I know I’m treading in Rooney territory here, but he’s right…at least on that point.
You label Paul’s solutions impossible, but have you fully evaluated them? If we were in the 19th century agrarian society, as you described, you probably would have laughed at/denigrated someone who told you they thought man could fly. Whether you realize it or not, defending the (government) system that suppresses human creativity and cooperation serves only to perpetuate its existence.
Few believe Ron Paul will abolish the Fed overnight or pull troops from overseas immediately; rather, it’s his IDEA that’s catching on. As time wears on, events will unfold that will support Paul’s message…and the philosophy of individual liberty will benefit. Given the dismal state of our economy, to take one example, Paul’s wisdom will ring true sooner rather than later.
Jonn wrote: Just calling it the status quo doesn’t automatically make the way things are bad. And just because an idea is different, that doesn’t make it good. I haven’t labeled Paul’s ideas impossible, I’ve labeled them populist drivel. And you don’t have to “fully examine” something to know that it’s nuts. Gold coins instead of paper money? Completely withdrawing from the world like we did in 1920? Ending taxation? Ending a Federal crime-fighting organization that whole world depends upon? Just populist drivel. To borrow from the late Pat Moynihan “It’s boob-bait for the Bubbas”.
“You don’t have to ‘fully examine’ something to know that it’s nuts” Really?
Under that logic, I would argue that your contentedness with the status quo places you in the 19th century agrarian society you purport to despise. In that context, you would have spurned the bulk of recent human achievement on the basis that you deem it “nuts.” Moreover, your defense of the status quo has its roots in tyranny…an idea much, much older than 19th century America.
My point is, human achievement has succeeded in spite of–not because of–the controls and regulations metered out to them by government and its subsidiary organizations such as the Federal Reserve. Governments are parasitic in nature and inhibit the progress of its citizens. I think we agree on that point?
Regarding the gold standard, I think you misunderstand Paul’s position. Dr. Paul advocates the return of competing currencies, an idea that (justly) threatens the existence of the Federal Reserve. Why not let the market sort out which currency provides a better means of exchange? The answer is because competing currencies would ruin the government-sponsored monopoly that is the Federal Reserve.
The balance of the claims you attribute to Ron Paul are incorrect and therefore are irrelevant to our discussion.
Jonn wrote: Yeah, really.
Eddie your pimp hand is way strong
As it happens, I know a fair number of Ron Paul supporters. All are perfectly nice, normal people–until they start talking about Ron Paul. Then, they suddenly turn into conspritorial, crazed loons. It’s a little disconcerting–it’s like knowing something for years and then finding the belong to a cult.
I’m sorry but when I look at the numbers…..
In My Humble Opinion,
the “camps” duped into support for the other more “popular”
candidates throughout the contest, (and blatantly slandering all others) FAR outnumber the rEVOLutionists.
Those crazy lads that dressed up as American Indians for a tea party were a “minority” too!
Jonn wrote: But those fellows dressed as Indians convinced a majority of the nation to go along with them towards revolution. They didn’t spend all of their time insulting everyone whose support they needed.
