Morning or Mourning in America

| September 22, 2010

Kathleen Parker, a Washington Post columnist, writes about two ads, one directed to appear like the first. The first of course, was Ronald Reagan’s ad entitled “Morning in America”. If you haven’t seen it, here it is;

The other ad is recently released by the Citizens for the Republic and entitled “Mourning in America”

Now, as I remember it, Parker jumped the Conservative ship and boarded the Obama steamer before the election. So I don’t why she has tried to jump back, and in her limited commentary beyond the ads she writes;

…it is probably fair to say that Obama’s ideas were too big for America’s appetite. It would have been nice had he made a few incremental repairs to the economy and left the transformative events for a less stressful time.

Actually, it would have been nice if America had seen what was coming in 2008 and voted for anyone except the ambitious, overachiever who is willing to gamble with our future and our money to ensconce his ideas in history. And stupid fucks like Parker can accept responsibility for their flirtation with the Obama tasty goodness.

I got a chuckle out of this line, “who is willing to gamble with our future and our money to ensconce his ideas in history”. I think you have him confused with his predecessor, who took a $3 trillion dollar gamble that didn’t pay off, and trashed the world economy for good measure. You never cease to amaze me Jonn.

Kathleen Parker is the media’s token non-conservative conservative. The only reason they even keep her around is so they can run to her for one of those “even some conservatives are saying” quotes.

You know, “Even some conservatives” really like the newest left-wing insanity they’re trotting out in Washington. “Even some conservatives” are saying that a real conservative is terrible and should shut up.

When she won the Pulitzer Prize, she called into Joe Scarborough’s show. Scarborough mentioned, “I’m going to break the law, I’m going to break it again because something big happened last night: A conservative [sic] won a Pulitzer Prize. It just never happens. With us on the phone right now, Pulitzer Prize winner Kathleen Parker.”

Parker then went on to explain that she didn’t expect a lot of kudos from the right. “There, it’s only because I’m a conservative basher that I’m now recognized after 23 years of toiling in the fields, right?”

What in the world are you talking about? What “$3 Trillion dollar gamble”?

If you’re talking about the Iraq War effort, it was

(1) not even close to $3 Trillion and
(2) not the reason for the economic collapse.

Over-achiever? I’m not entirely sure that term is justified. Yes, he did become President despite his absolute lack of qualifications, but in my mind,an over-achiever is someone who actually accomplishes more than is expected of them. The only way I’d say that Obama is an over-achiever is if he’s judged by the standard of destroying the economy.

And Joe, what party controlled the Congress during the first failed Stimulus/TARP package? Oh, that was Pelosi’s Congress, wasn’t it. And Bush’s signature helped to demotivate conservatives from voting enough that McCain lost the election. As for the “world economy,” Congress only has control over our own, even though they are now trying to pay for Greece’s economic failure.

Same with David Frum.

I always find it hilarious when I get into a discussion with a liberal and they’ll cite some Frum or Parker column and state “even respected conservative Frum/Parker agrees with the Democrats on…” The Left’s definition of a ‘respected conservative’ is one who agrees with the Left on 9 issues and is conservative on 1 issue. In other words, a liberal.

Joe,

Comrade, you have a wonderful and bright future awaiting you as an editor for Pravda!

Speaking of Parker, iowahawk published another piece this week in the style of my favorite of his several characters, T. Coddington Van Voorhees VII:

No one beats IH for satire.

Joe; please let go of the commie talking points. The $3 trillion number has been debunked for the made up crap that it is. You don’t really crack us up, because we understand that you suffer from a mental disorder called liberalism.

it is probably fair to say that Obama’s ideas were too big for America’s appetite.

There it is! When dealing with such magnificent ideas we must have pity on ‘The Great Unwashed’, they know not what they miss.

Kiss my unwashed ass you arrogant nerd.

The whole idea that the electorate in this country are ignorant dummies is the Alinksy (et al) mantra writ large.
