President Trump to airlines: Consider Venezuelan airspace as closed
President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to warn airlines, pilots, drug dealers, and human traffickers to consider the airspace over and surrounding Venezuela to be closed “in its entirety.” This comes a week after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a warning about flying over Venezuela. Their warning called on airlines to “exercise caution” on the account of the region’s potentially hazardous situation. The justification included the decreasing security situation and increased military activity in or around Venezuela.

“To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Trump’s comments come about a week after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) warned airlines about flying over Venezuela. The FAA issued a notice urging airlines to “exercise caution” due to the “potentially hazardous situation” in the region.
“Operators are advised to exercise caution when operating in the Maiquetia flight information region at all altitudes due to the worsening security situation and heightened military activity in or around Venezuela,” the FAA advisory had said.
“Threats could pose a potential risk to aircraft at all altitudes, including during overflight, the arrival and departure phases of flight, and/or airports and aircraft on the ground,” it added, requesting airlines to provide at least 72-hour advance notice to the FAA if they plan to fly through the area.
Some international airlines then canceled their flights to Venezuela following the FAA’s warning.
When asked for a response Saturday to Trump’s message, the FAA directed FOX Business to its Nov. 21 notice.

Yeah, I’m somewhat suspicious that unilaterally closing another country’s airspace is considered a hostile act of war in some places. Drug smugglers… already criminals outside the law. Civilian air traffic? Not so much. This needs to be a TACO moment.
Consider the drug boats the same way JFK did those missiles in Cuba, except they were being launched one at a time. I don’t think Americans of any political stripe would have been overly concerned about him shooting those down over international waters.
But that’s “different!” because “Reasons!” will be the reply.
Not going to get the Nobel Peace Prize by going this route.
Meh, given how it was awarded to the likes of Al Gore Junior and B. Hussein 0bama, that right there shows just how dignified it is anymore.
