Man shot in self defense amid chaotic confrontation has died, according to MCSO

PRICHARD, Ala. (NBC 15) — An accused murderer was shot and killed in a case of possible self-defense on Sunday. Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch says Keenta Todd threw a full sports drink bottle at an ex-girlfriend, who apparently wasn’t receptive to the flowers he’d brought to her McAboy Street home. The bottle hit her in the face, and Burch says he was threatening to kill someone when his 23-year-old nephew, who lives at the home, intervened.

“And settle, deescalate the situation. The decedent continued to act erratically. Was asking where the gun was,” said Burch. “Went to the kitchen, got several knives, began looking for his girlfriend, still yelling, cursing.”

Burch says Keenta Todd charged Kenton Todd with the knives. And the 23-year-old nephew fired two shots, striking his 47-year-old uncle in the chest. Keenta Tood later died at the hospital.

“I will not refer to him as a victim. He has an extensive criminal history of violence,” said Burch.

Keenta Todd has been booked 22 times into Mobile Metro Jail since 1997. Changes included assault, shooting into an occupied building, domestic violence, robbery, burglary, drug distribution and possession.

Mr. Todd’s murder charge was dropped when the detective investigating the case was found guilty of perjury. Ironic- had he been convicted he’d be in jail now instead of the morgue.

There was only one catch and that was Catch-22. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn’t, but if he was sane he had to fly them. If he flew them he was crazy and didn’t have to; but if he didn’t want to he was sane and had to.
